Cole arranged for the FBI's investigation and questioning to take place in a conference room in the office building.

The meeting room is downstairs from Cole's office. It's not very big, and can probably accommodate about twenty people.

At this moment, there was only a rectangular conference table and a few black office chairs inside.

The windows were sealed shut, and the air smelled of stale coffee mixed with the dry scent of printer toner.

Li Fu sat at one end of the table, while Cole sat at the far end, holding a freshly poured cup of coffee that was gently steaming.

Two minutes later, the meeting room door was pushed open.

A man and a woman entered, both dressed in dark suits, without ties, and wearing FBI badges around their necks.

The man was around forty years old, with very short hair and sharp, eagle-like eyes.

The woman was younger, probably in her early thirties, with short hair that reached her ears, and was holding a thick folder in her hands.

"Mr. Forrest," the male agent said, glancing at Cole first, his tone polite but also noticeably distant, "I am Federal Agent Jason, and this is my assistant, Lina. Thank you for your cooperation."

"That's to be expected. I'm just listening in today, so you don't need to worry about it," Cole replied casually, pointing to Li Fu on the other side. "This is Mr. Li, the man you're looking for. He's my partner at the Los Angeles wine company. Feel free to ask me anything."

His posture was elegant and confident.

Of course, he has the qualifications. There are only a handful of families like theirs in the whole of America; you can count them on your fingers.

What are ordinary federal agents?

Jason nodded slightly, pulled out a chair and sat down. Lina placed the folder on the table, and inside was a stack of printed documents.

She glanced at Cole out of the corner of her eye before fixing her gaze on Li Fu's face.

"Mr. Li," her voice was steady, clearly someone who had seen it all, "we've come to see you today to learn about your time in Los Angeles, mainly about two people, Chad Winthrop and Goldstein."

Li Fu nodded, leaned forward slightly, and placed his hands on the table with his hands crossed. "I understand. I will tell you everything I know."

“Let’s start with Winthrop,” Agent Jason began, leaning back in his chair with his fingers interlaced on his stomach. “According to our investigation, you’ve had dealings with Chad Winthrop. Can you tell us how you met?”

“Winthrop was Lucy’s college classmate, and they got along quite well,” Li Fu answered readily. “Lucy asked me to accompany her to a party that Winthrop hosted.”

"Only met at parties?" Lina leaned forward, her gaze sharp. "No private contact? Like having meals together, or meeting alone?"

"No," Li Fu shook his head, his expression calm. "My interactions with Winslop are limited to the social occasions where Lucy is present. We have never exchanged contact information or met privately. My understanding of him is limited to what Lucy occasionally mentions: that he seems to be very rich."

He was telling the truth, but not the whole story.

The two did not arrange to meet, but they did meet in person.

At that time, Winslop gave him a check for two hundred thousand dollars and told him to leave Lucy.

He turned the tables on his opponent, eventually causing them to reveal a weakness.

However, very few people know about this.

He was certain that even if Winthrop's elders knew, they wouldn't dare tell the FBI agents. If this were to leak out, it would easily lead people to associate Lucy's kidnapping with the Winthrop family.

In that case, they would not only have to bear the wrath of the Forrest family, but also face irreparable damage in public opinion.

"When was the last time you saw Winslop?" Jason pressed.

"It was a party about six months ago," Li Fu said, making a face as if trying to recall. "It was at a villa in the mountains, and Lucy's other classmates were there too."

"Do you have any issues with Winthrop? Like business rivalry or personal grudges?"

Lina took a statement while asking questions.

"No, my only connection with him is Lucy. We've never met in private, and we have no enmity whatsoever."

Li Fu shook his head.

Jason and Lina exchanged a glance, seemingly assessing Li Fu's answer.

In the end, no flaws were found.

"OK," Jason nodded, turning to a page of the document. "Then let's talk about Goldstein. Our investigation shows you saw him in New York. Could you elaborate?"

Li Fu's heart stirred slightly.

They investigated very thoroughly!

"Yes, about a month ago," Li Fu said slowly. "That day I accompanied Gadot to a fashion party, which was full of fashion celebrities. Mr. Goldstein was also there, and we had a brief conversation."

"Mr. Li is really lucky with women. He was Miss Forrest's boyfriend and even accompanied Gal Gadot to a fashion party as her date," Lina suddenly remarked, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

"I was Ms. Gadot's bodyguard at the time, so it was my duty," Li Fu replied briefly.

"Speaking of bodyguards, I recall that Mr. Li should have served in the military. During the hostage situation six months ago, you practically appeared out of nowhere and single-handedly wiped out all the hostage-takers. So, if I may be so bold as to ask, you must also be skilled with a sniper rifle, right?"

Lina appeared to be doing it unintentionally, but in reality, she was staring intently into Li Fu's eyes.

"I've used sniper rifles before, but I'm quite rusty now. I prefer using pistols now," Li Fu said calmly.

He knew the other party had no evidence whatsoever.

"What was the content of the conversation?" Jason didn't delve any further.

"You might not believe it, but Goldstein asked me like a talent scout if I would like to develop my career in Hollywood, saying he had some connections and could introduce me to someone," Li Fu said with a smile and a shrug.

Not a single letter in these words is false.

Jason frowned slightly; he hadn't expected this to be the topic of conversation.

Lina, however, didn't find it strange at all.

It's not surprising that Li Fu's looks and physique led to his being scouted by a talent agent.

This may be due to the different focuses of men and women.

"Did you know Goldstein before?" Jason continued to press.

"I don't know him," Li Fu shook his head decisively.

Have you been in contact since then?

"no."

"You've never even met them privately?"

"no."

……

One problem after another.

But Li Fu's answer remained perfectly watertight.

He admitted to all verifiable "social relationships" but denied all "private dealings" and "personal grudges."

Why did you suddenly leave Los Angeles and come to Nashville?

After some trivial questions.

Lina suddenly asked a question.

"Because Mr. Forrest wants to transfer me to work in Nashville," Li Fu's answer remained flawless.

"I can confirm that."

Cole, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up.

The meeting room fell silent for a moment.

Agent Miller closed the folder and looked at Cole.

"Mr. Forrest, we have no further questions for now."

Cole nodded, stood up, and said, "If you have any further questions or need any assistance, please feel free to contact me."

Jason and Lina nodded slightly, then turned and walked out.

They felt that Li Fu had absolutely no problems?

Of course not, but they have no evidence and now there are powerful figures from the Forrest family around, so what can they do?

To take it to an extreme, they might not even be able to get into the office building today.

There was nothing that could be done afterward.

The bureau chief specifically instructed that all behavior must be proper and not go astray.

Therefore, the investigation can only end here.
