My absurd experiences in North America over the years
Chapter 59 A Touching Moment
The houses here are all very old, mostly detached houses built in the 1980s, with palm trees and bougainvillea planted in front of them, and a few cars parked sparsely on the streets.
More than a decade ago, this was an upscale neighborhood for the wealthy.
Now most of the houses have been sold, and the area has become a gathering place for emerging middle-class families.
Li Fu parked the car in front of a gray-white detached house. The house was not big, with a thin layer of rust on the iron gate, and the grass in the yard was knee-high.
It looks like no one has lived here for a long time.
"Where is this?" Gadot unbuckled her seatbelt and looked around curiously.
"A friend of mine used to live in a house and needed money urgently, so I bought it," Li Fu said without revealing who this "friend" was; in fact, he didn't have that friend.
This was just one of the places he had prepared to stay.
As the saying goes, a cunning rabbit has three burrows; he knew better than anyone how chaotic things were on the American side and that they couldn't possibly be completely unprepared.
"You bought such an old house?" Gadot was a little confused.
Li Fu didn't explain much. He walked to the door, took out his key, and opened it. As soon as the door opened, a waft of air mixed with the smell of dust and sunshine rushed out.
Having a sunny room has its advantages.
It has good lighting and plenty of sunshine, and there is no musty smell even though no one lives there.
Gadot followed behind him, her high heels clicking crisply on the concrete steps.
She stood at the doorway and glanced inside using the light from her phone screen. The living room wasn't large, and the furniture was simple, but it was fairly clean.
A white dust cover was placed on the sofa, the coffee table was empty, and a cast iron floor lamp stood in the corner.
"Do you come here often?"
"I don't come here often, but I come to stay occasionally," Li Fu said as he walked in, lifted the dust cover, and sat down on the sofa.
Gadot sat down next to him, the sofa springs creaking slightly as they both sank in, shoulder to shoulder.
"Do you know who's following us?" She turned to look at Li Fu, her voice very soft.
"I don't know yet, but it's definitely not paparazzi."
Li Fu did not tell the truth.
There's no need for her to know about his relationship with Winslop.
Gadot hummed in agreement and didn't ask any further questions.
She's not the type to pry, or rather, she's the type who knows when to ask and when not to.
If Li Fu knew or wanted to tell her, he would naturally speak up; if he didn't, he must have his reasons.
"A big shot is willing to introduce you to Hollywood. Are you really not interested, or are you just playing hard to get?" Gadot changed the subject, her voice tinged with a hint of teasing.
Do you think I should go?
Li Fu reached out and put his arm around her shoulder.
"I think you should go, but you probably won't," Gadot said with certainty.
"Why do you think that?" Li Fu looked at her with great interest.
"Intuition," Gadot answered simply and directly.
The room was quiet for a while.
A cat's meow came from outside, intermittent and broken.
"Then I can only say that your intuition is very accurate," Li Fu said, ruffling her hair.
"However, if you are really interested, I can introduce you to some people in the industry. Of course, I am not very experienced and my connections are limited," Gadot said, turning her head to look at him.
Her profile looked beautiful under the light; the line of her nose bridge flowed down from between her eyebrows and slightly upturned at the tip, creating a perfect curve.
Li Fu looked at her and suddenly found it a little funny.
He recalled Gal Gadot's image as Wonder Woman, who was always dignified, sacred, and inviolable on screen.
Perhaps this is her style right now.
However, after another ten years of struggling in this industry, it will be difficult for anyone to remain unscathed.
"I'm really not interested." Li Fu shook his head and hugged her even tighter.
"Not even a little bit?" Gadot pressed.
"Not at all," Li Fu shook his head again.
Why?
"My ambitions lie elsewhere."
Gadot stared at him for several seconds.
The dim overhead lamp gleamed in her eyes.
"This is a very rare opportunity. Countless people would do anything to have this chance," she said, lowering her head and resting her forehead on his shoulder.
His long hair fell down, covering half of his face, with a few strands brushing against his neck.
Li Fu felt a tickle in her hair and could smell a faint perfume on her body, a very light scent like grass after rain.
"It doesn't really matter to me," he replied calmly.
"So you're going to hide here for the next couple of days? How long do you plan to hide?" Gadot's voice was muffled by the fabric of his trench coat.
"I'm not hiding, I'm just staying here temporarily tonight," Li Fu replied casually.
"And then?" Gadot continued to ask.
Li Fu did not answer; his plan was to lure the enemy into a trap and eliminate them directly.
Of course, these words cannot be said aloud.
He reached out and brushed the strands of hair that were brushing against her neck, his fingertips touching her earlobe, which felt a little cool.
Gadot snuggled closer to him, like a cat that had found a warm corner.
"I have a schedule tomorrow afternoon," she said, her voice carrying a hint of reluctance.
They seem to want to stay here for a few days as well.
"Then I'll take you back tomorrow morning," Li Fu said, patting her back gently.
"Tomorrow morning? It's already past midnight. If I don't rest now, I definitely won't be able to get up," Gadot looked up, preparing to get up and go to the bedroom.
This was the first time she had stayed in a completely unfamiliar environment.
The bedroom was also very tidy.
Li Fu lifted the dust cover on the bed, took out a quilt from the cabinet, and simply spread it out.
"Please make do for one night, Miss Gadot."
He shrugged, indicating that these were the current conditions.
"As long as it's not sleeping in the car, I can accept it," Gadot said, sitting on the bed and looking up at him.
Those brown eyes, which could captivate audiences on the silver screen, were now gleaming with a light deeper than the night.
His eyes and posture clearly didn't look like he was about to rest.
The subtext of that sentence... might be that she doesn't like being in the car.
She's ready now.
Li Fu didn't speak, but lowered his head and accurately captured those slightly parted red lips.
At first, it was just a tentative touch, like a feather gently brushing across the water, carrying an extremely gentle meaning.
But Gadot soon became dissatisfied with this superficial tenderness.
She took the initiative, climbing her hands up Li Fu's neck, her fingertips threading through his slightly messy black hair, and kissed him forcefully.
In their relationship, she was always the one who took the initiative, at least initially.
The faint smell of dust in the air seemed to be instantly replaced by a much hotter smell.
Li Funeng could clearly feel her rapid breaths spraying on his face, carrying a refreshing and alluring fragrance like grass after rain.
He tightened his arms around her, pressing her against him until their bodies were pressed tightly together, as if trying to meld her into his very bones.
The wooden bed made a slight creaking sound, but the sound was quickly drowned out by the two people's intermittent breathing.
Gadot's black off-the-shoulder dress gleamed with a cold, elegant sheen under the dim light, and Li Fu's fingers slowly slid down her smooth back.
The passage of time caused her to tremble slightly.
"It's a bit cold tonight..."
Between breaths, Gadot murmured something in a hoarse voice, pressing her body even closer to his chest, trying to draw in more warmth.
"It won't be cold soon," Li Fu said in a deep, magnetic voice as he pulled her onto the bed.
Gadot gasped softly, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in the crook of his neck like a lazy and affectionate Persian cat.
Moonlight streamed in through the gaps in the blinds, casting dappled shadows on the two of them.
