Li Fu stopped walking, not immediately responding to the "please" gesture.

Goldstein wasn't annoyed; he simply watched him quietly, his fingers rhythmically tapping the rim of his whiskey glass, producing a crisp sound.

The sound wasn't loud, but it was like a countdown, striking Li Fu's heart precisely.

Surrounded by elegantly dressed women and lavish conversations, the air in this corner seemed to freeze.

A few seconds later, Li Fu stepped over.

Instead of sitting on the sofa opposite Goldstein, he chose the single armchair next to him, maintaining a distance that suggested he could suddenly launch an attack at any moment.

"Hello, Mr. Li."

Goldstein spoke first, his voice deep and resonant, carrying an air of well-educated elegance.

He didn't act like the stereotypical capitalist, displaying the arrogance of someone in a superior position; instead, he behaved like a kind and approachable elder neighbor.

"We don't seem to know each other, do we?" Li Fu frowned slightly.

He must pretend that he is meeting the other person for the first time and act somewhat nervous.

"Hmm... I don't know you, but I have heard of you," Goldstein said with a smile and a shrug. "You don't need to be so nervous. I just want to chat casually with a young man."

"Really? I'm just a lowly bodyguard," Li Fu said with a self-deprecating tone. "I'm only able to be at this party thanks to Miss Gadot."

"You're being too modest," Goldstein laughed. "You're actually quite famous in the industry now."

"I'm not sure, maybe I'm just more of a professional!" Li Fu replied with a smile.

"Now let's get to know each other formally," Goldstein said, gently swirling his glass as ice cubes clinked against the side. "Eliza Goldstein."

Li Fu raised his wine glass and lightly clinked it against his own. "Li Fu."

Goldstein took a sip of his drink. "In this circle, people like to call me Elisha, or Mr. Goldstein. Of course, exchanging business cards in this kind of setting is too tacky. There will probably be many more opportunities to meet in the future."

"I don't actually have the habit of carrying business cards," Li Fu replied casually.

“Truly capable people don’t need business cards to promote themselves,” Goldstein said with interest. “I imagine quite a few people at this party today would like to hire you as their bodyguard.”

Li Fu remained noncommittal, instead casually asking, "I wonder what brings Mr. Goldstein here?"

Goldstein put down his glass, leaned forward slightly, and looked directly at Li Fu with his gray-blue eyes. "You may not know, but recently there have been two names that have been appearing frequently in the Hollywood casting directors and talent scouts circles. One is Gal Gadot, who just came to Los Angeles, and the other... is you."

It's understandable that Gal Gadot is getting attention.

She originally came here to develop her career, and that set of sexy military-themed photos brought her considerable fame.

However, Li Fu didn't understand why his name had appeared.

Is this old guy trying to trick me?

His eyes flickered slightly, but his face remained blank, as if he couldn't understand what the other person was saying. "Are you kidding me? I'm just a salaried bodyguard."

"Don't be so self-deprecating," Goldstein waved his hand, his tone as relaxed as if he were talking about the weather, but his eyes were fixed on every micro-expression of Li Fu.

"Staff at Maxim magazine are saying that Gal Gadot's bodyguard is more photogenic than a model."

"Is that so?" Li Fu chuckled. "Perhaps it's just a coincidence. Different fields are like different worlds. The talent scouts probably misjudged him."

He doesn't believe in free lunches.
