One Piece: Starting with Sharingan, First Mate Uchiha
Chapter 456 Sleeping Under the Moon! The First Mate Who Couldn't Escape
The door slowly closed behind them, shutting out the lingering aroma of wine and laughter from the courtyard.
As soon as Victor sat down on the tatami mat, Robin leisurely placed the medicine box she had brought with her on the table.
"Miss Hiyori just said that she prepared regular alcohol for you this time."
Her voice remained gentle, as if she were merely mentioning a minor incident from the banquet.
But the atmosphere in the room became subtly quiet for a moment after those words were spoken.
Nami, who was tidying the bedding, stopped what she was doing and turned to look at Viktor.
"What does this mean?"
Viktor paused for a moment, then raised his hand and touched his nose.
"There was a minor incident before the big battle, but it has nothing to do with tonight."
Nami squinted her eyes.
Robin's smile became even gentler.
Both of them were all too familiar with Viktor's little trick.
Normally, whether facing the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Four Emperors, or the Marine Admirals, he can always maintain that smiling and calm demeanor.
Only when feeling guilty or deliberately hiding something will one unconsciously touch their nose.
"I see."
Nami crossed her arms over her chest, her voice trailing off meaningfully.
"It seems that something quite worth hiding has indeed happened."
Robin added quietly from the side.
"And that matter was probably related to a certain unusual glass of wine."
Viktor wisely refrained from further explanation.
The more detailed the explanation of some things, the more details are likely to be revealed.
Nami and Robin exchanged a glance, clearly having guessed what was going on from his reaction.
However, when their gaze fell on the bandages that were faintly visible on Viktor's body, they swallowed back the questions they were about to ask.
Nami walked up to him and grabbed his collar.
"Flower-hearted radish".
"You'd better take this time to recover and think things through carefully."
"After I recover from my injuries, how am I supposed to explain that matter to everyone?"
Is there still a chance to explain?
"It depends on your attitude."
Nami pressed him down onto the tatami mat and immediately unbuttoned his outer garment.
As the hem slipped down, the dense scars beneath the bandages were exposed to the light.
His chest bore large bruises from the frontal impact of the Eight Precepts.
There are still several lacerations in the muscles of his right arm, and his shoulder and back are covered with burns left by excessive chakra consumption.
Although some of the wounds had scabbed over, the edges were still red.
Nami was initially angry about Hiyori's situation, but her expression quickly darkened after seeing the injuries.
During the final battle on Ghost Island, she could only see the purple war god through the collapsed buildings.
When the arm of the complete Susanoo shattered beneath the island and Onigashima began to fall back towards the Flower Capital, she genuinely believed that Victor would be crushed by the entire island.
Later, the nine giant tails lifted up the island, and everyone was shocked by that power.
All she wanted to know was whether that guy would come back alive.
"The wound has almost healed."
Victor noticed the change in atmosphere and tried to comfort her in a lighthearted tone.
Nami looked up and glared at him.
"Shut up."
She carefully removed the old bandage and peeled away the medicated cloth stuck to the wound bit by bit.
Although the movements weren't exactly professional, they were already quite skilled.
Robin brought over some warm water and sat down behind Victor.
She reached out and wrung out a cloth to wipe away the remaining medication and dried blood from his back.
Throughout their voyage, they had treated Viktor's wounds more than once.
However, no matter how serious the previous injuries were, none seemed to bring as much lingering fear as this one.
I thought you were really never coming back.
Nami lowered her head and applied new ointment to the edges of the wound.
Victor smiled.
"Someone has to clean up the rest."
Nami tightened her bandaged hands slightly, and Viktor immediately felt a sharp pain in his chest.
Why does it always have to be you?
Viktor paused for a moment, then answered matter-of-factly:
"Because I'm the first mate."
"Luffy is in charge of defeating the enemy, so of course I'm in charge of ensuring everyone can leave safely."
Robin stopped wiping her wound.
She approached from behind, gently wrapping her arms around Victor's shoulders, her chin resting on his uninjured side.
You always feel that if you take on more responsibility, others will suffer less.
"But we'll be just as afraid when you might not be able to come back."
Her voice remained calm, yet it carried a weight heavier than any reproach.
Viktor fell silent.
He could never give a satisfactory answer to Nami and Robin's concerns.
Because if he were to experience the same situation again, he would probably make the same choice.
This time, however, he finally realized that those decisions were never just about himself.
Nami tied the last bandage around his neck and looked up to meet his gaze.
"Don't show off like that again."
Viktor thought for a moment.
"I'll let you know next time."
"The key is to prevent a next time!"
Nami was clearly not satisfied with this answer.
But she also knew that this was the biggest concession Victor could make.
This man would never choose to back down when his comrades are in danger, just as Luffy would never abandon his comrades and straw hat in front of the enemy.
She eventually stopped arguing and instead leaned down to kiss Victor.
Viktor paused for a moment, then reached out and put his arm around her waist.
This kiss lacked the taste of wine at the banquet, and it wasn't as rushed as during a battle.
Nami kept all the worries and fears that had been building up for days hidden inside her, and only slowly separated from him after confirming that the person in her arms was indeed warm and real.
"At least let us know what you're planning to do next time."
She said in a low voice.
"it is good."
Robin approached from behind and placed a light kiss on Victor's cheek.
Nami did not show any discomfort at being near her.
The relationship between the three was no longer the cautious, tentative one it had been at the beginning.
From island after island to life-or-death battle after life, they had long been familiar with each other's breathing, habits, and emotions.
Nami remained leaning against Victor's left, while Robin wrapped her arms around his shoulder from the right.
Robin looked at Nami, as if remembering something, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
"It seems we really need to keep a close eye on our wounded tonight."
Nami immediately understood what she meant and nodded seriously.
"To prevent anyone from sneaking out in the middle of the night."
Looking at the two people who had trapped him on either side, Victor suddenly realized that there was really no way he could leave tonight.
However, he originally had no intention of leaving.
Victor stretched out his arms. As their bodies drew close, his tense mind finally truly relaxed.
From the moment he landed on Ghost Island, he almost never stopped calculating.
Only now, surrounded by familiar warmth and scent, did he finally realize that the war that had lasted all night was over.
Just as Victor was about to move his hand, Nami accurately pressed it down.
"Behave yourself."
"Your injury hasn't healed yet."
"The wounded just need some comfort."
Viktor whispered something in their ears, then, with a knowing smile, comfortably lay back down on the tatami mat.
Nami and Robin looked at him at the same time, and then exchanged a glance.
Their eyes held both helplessness and indulgence towards the man's complete lack of remorse.
"Wounded people should look like wounded people."
Nami was still complaining, but she leaned down and kissed his lips again.
Long orange hair fell to Victor's sides, blocking out most of the light.
Robin gently raised his hand,
An arm grew out from the wall and extinguished the light in the room.
Darkness descended, leaving only moonlight filtering through the shoji paper, casting a hazy, silvery outline in the room.
The hushed conversation gradually turned into soft laughter.
The occasional soft noises were quickly drowned out by the night breeze blowing through the courtyard.
On this night after the war ended, Viktor was finally able to let down his guard.
He was only kept by the two closest people.
……
At the other end of the corridor, after arranging the last few guest rooms, Hiyori walked alone towards her own place.
As I passed Viktor's room, a faint sound suddenly came from behind the shoji door.
Hiyori subconsciously stopped in her tracks.
She initially thought Victor's injuries had suddenly relapsed, but soon heard Nami's low moan and Robin's smiling words of dissuasion.
The sounds that followed were not clear, but they were enough for her to understand what was happening in the room.
Hiyori's cheeks quickly became hot.
She immediately turned around, ready to leave the corridor.
But as soon as he took his first step, memories of the night before the Battle of Ghost Island resurfaced uncontrollably.
Hiyori gripped her sleeves tightly and stood still for a moment.
Three blurry figures, very close together, were projected onto the shoji paper.
She slowly raised her hand, as if wanting to approach the window, but ultimately stopped in mid-air.
A moment later, Hiyori withdrew her finger.
Without disturbing anyone in the room, she quietly retreated and continued forward along the moonlit corridor.
She didn't stop until she had walked quite a distance, and then raised her hand to press her still burning cheeks.
The wind in the courtyard ruffled my sleeves.
As Hiyori gazed at the night sky, a question suddenly arose in her mind that she dared not think about in detail.
If the Straw Hat crew leaves Wano Country—
What kind of relationship will develop between her and Victor?
Will he remember me?
