Don't go to the moon, there are gods on the far side of the moon.

The first thing Lin Xiaoman did after waking up was to ask for paper.

Her face was as white as if she had just been pulled out of ice water, but her hands were very steady.

The pencil fell on the back of the medical record, and stroke by stroke, it drew a door.

The door was so high it didn't seem like a place for a person to walk through.

The pillars on either side resembled skeletons hanging down from the clouds, and the lintel was engraved with dense circular patterns. Lin Jibai stood by the bed, watching her draw the top of the door, his fingertips unconsciously tightening.

The ward was so quiet that only the beeping of the monitor could be heard.

Lin Jibai squatted down, trying to keep his voice steady: "You dreamed about it?"

Lin Xiaoman nodded, then shook her head.

"It's not a dream."

"What is that?"

"Someone left me at the door." She stared at the door on the paper, her eyes eerily empty. "It was cold inside, and there were lots of boxes. Someone was counting names, and when they got to my name, Dad said it wasn't time yet."

Lin Jibai's heart tightened.

"Did you see Dad?"

Xiaoman bit her lip.

"I couldn't see him clearly. He was under the door, with lots of wires attached to him. He told me to tell you not to trust the people who went to the moon."

Just as Lin Jibai was about to ask further questions, the ward door was pushed open.

The head nurse came in with two nurses, followed by a man in a gray suit.

"Routine inspection," the director said.

The man in the gray suit smiled: "Mr. Lin, we are the data security team that collaborates with the hospital. Last night, the equipment malfunctioned, and we need to synchronize and verify the patient records."

Lin Jibai laughed as well: "The hospital's EEG data is managed by the data security team? You guys have quite a wide range of responsibilities."

The man in the gray suit maintained his smile: "Special circumstances."

The nurse behind him pushed a portable EEG machine over.

Lin Jibai glanced at the interface; the model was incorrect.

That wasn't standard hospital equipment. Although it had a medical label on its casing, there was a miniature deep-space communication module on the bottom. His expertise in repairing equipment ensured he wouldn't mistake it.

They're not here to inspect.

It's to connect to Xiaoman.

Lin Jibai stood up and stood in front of the bed.

"My sister just woke up, so we're not doing it today."

The director frowned: "Lin Jibai, don't be ridiculous."

The man in the gray suit sighed, "Mr. Lin, cooperating will be beneficial for you. Lin Xiaoman's medical bills are already twenty-seven days overdue."

This sentence is like a knife.

Lin Jibai was poor.

The lights in the ward dimmed.

On the paper draft of the South Heavenly Gate drawn by Xiaoman, the pencil lines actually shimmered with silver light.

The mobile EEG device turned on automatically, and waveforms appeared on the screen.

Lin Jibai couldn't understand medical curves, but he could understand synchronization.

The waveform was exactly the same as the low-frequency echo from the far side of the moon last night.

I also saw the gray suit.

For the first time, he lost his composure and reached out to snatch the manuscript.

Lin Jibai was faster than him.

He grabbed the medical record with one hand, and with the other hand he grabbed Xiaoman's IV stand and smashed it directly at the EEG machine.

The device screen shattered, and sparks flew out.

The director screamed.

The man in the gray suit took a half step back, and an urgent voice came through the earpiece: "Sample synchronization interrupted! The patient's waveform has been deliberately cut!"

Lin Jibai's eyes turned completely cold.

"You call my sister a sample?"

Realizing he had let something slip, the man in the gray suit turned and left.

Lin Jibai did not pursue.

He first removed the needle from Xiaoman's hand and then wrapped her in his coat.

"Brother will take you away."

"Where to?"

"I don't know." Lin Jibai picked her up. "Let's get out of here first."

At the end of the corridor, the elevator doors opened.

Two men in black stood there.

The silver star-pattern badge on his chest gleamed slightly.

Lin Jibai, carrying Xiaoman, turned and rushed towards the fire escape.

Xiaoman leaned on his shoulder and suddenly whispered, "Brother, they're not human."

"Don't be afraid."

"I'm not afraid of them."

"What's there to be afraid of?"

Xiaoman looked at the moon outside the corridor window, her voice trembling.

"Someone is calling my name from inside the door."

Lin Jibai rushed into the stairwell and locked the door behind him.

The next second, the loudspeakers throughout the entire hospital building started playing simultaneously.

This is not a hospital notification.

It was cold, ancient, like a declaration coming from the bottom of a metal well:

[South Heavenly Gate Preliminary Verification.]

[Human interface: Lin Xiaoman.]

[Guardian: Lin Jibai.]

[Should the handover proceed?]

Lin Jibai hugged his sister tightly and kicked open the fire door.

"Hand over to your grandpa."

He rushed into the night.

Behind him, the moon reflected in all the hospital windows turned towards him at the same time.
