Chapter 387 Bargaining and Something's Wrong: The Conditions for Entering the Bar
The innkeeper looked at Evelyn and remained silent for a moment.
After a moment, he slowly opened his mouth.
He spoke in fluent English, with a mysterious tone:
"The legendary Hamunaptra is shrouded in death and curses, and few people know of it."
The hotel owner looked somber and seemed unwilling to take the job.
Evelyn was disappointed when she saw this, and prepared to tell Li Yuan and the others to leave and find another hotel.
But the next second, the innkeeper changed the subject and said:
"But I happen to know someone who has been to Hamnata, though it's quite expensive."
"Miss, you'd probably have to offer him $1000 per person per day before he'd be willing to go."
Evelyn was overjoyed to hear that someone had been to Hamunaptra.
But listening to the price quoted by the hotel owner,
This left Evelyn, whose budget was limited, scratching her head in dismay.
However, Evelyn's face didn't change much.
She decided to try and negotiate the price with the hotel owner:
"Boss, we just came here because we've heard so much about it, we're just traveling and sightseeing."
It's not necessary to find Hamunaptra.
Therefore, I'm only willing to spend $100 per day.
The boss rolled his eyes when he heard Evelyn's offer.
He said in a disdainful tone:
"At your price, you can't even hire a camel."
Evelyn didn't refute, she just smiled, and then turned to leave.
Seeing that the fat sheep in front of him was about to slip away, the boss's face was no longer the same as before.
He was so frightened that he quickly shouted:
"Hey! Miss, wait a minute! The price is negotiable!"
Evelyn stopped slowly upon hearing this, but did not turn around.
Seeing that Evelyn didn't leave immediately, the boss said very quickly:
"Miss, how about we each take a step back?"
$800, everything included, guaranteed to make your trip easy and enjoyable!
Evelyn didn't even turn her head, simply stating a number:
"200 dollars."
"Oh no! You can't do that, it has to be at least $500! That's the lowest price!"
Evelyn ignored the boss's wailing and continued to quote prices:
"300, if that's not enough, I'm leaving."
The innkeeper was so angry that his face turned red. He opened his mouth, wanting to offer another price.
Evelyn, however, did not give him that chance.
She strode out the door.
Seeing this, the boss quickly shouted to Evelyn, who was about to leave:
"300! That's $300! Deal!"
Evelyn slowly turned around and added to the boss:
"Food, lodging, vehicle, and gasoline are included; there are no extra charges."
The boss nearly fainted upon hearing Evelyn's additional information.
He took a deep breath and said to Evelyn:
"No problem, you can stay here. I'll arrange a guide and vehicle for you tomorrow morning."
However, as he spoke, the innkeeper muttered to himself:
"Hmph, let you have your fun for now. Once we get to the desert, I'll be the one calling the shots."
After arranging the room, the hotel owner turned and left.
Watching the innkeeper's departing figure, Li Yuan whispered to Evelyn:
"This boss doesn't look like a local. Is he trying to scam us?"
Evelyn was still basking in the joy of successfully negotiating the price.
When he heard Li Yuan's words, he was stunned for a moment and murmured:
"How did you tell? I don't see any difference."
"His tone of voice is slightly different from the locals..."
Li Yuan abruptly stopped speaking halfway through his sentence.
He decided it was best not to interfere.
So as not to miss the real Hamunata guide in this unknown plot.
Thinking of this, Li Yuan shook his head and said softly:
"I'm probably overthinking it."
Evelyn nodded in confusion, then walked into the guest room with Grace.
And so, Li Yuan and his group of five settled down at this inn.
Professor Banner and his group also checked into the hotel shortly after Li Yuan and the others did.
However, they did not choose to hire a guide.
Meanwhile, outside a midnight bar in Los Angeles.
Edward and Jason stood in a long line.
People lined up to get into the midnight bar.
Jason looked at the men and women entering one by one and smiled at Edward, saying:
"This is no different from any other bar, yet they're acting all mysterious."
Edward nodded, about to agree,
Then I heard a woman's teasing voice beside me:
"Don't be impatient, young man. You'll soon see the difference between this place and a regular bar."
Jason turned around upon hearing this and found that the other person was a tall, slender, and alluring blonde beauty.
Seeing this, Jason's face immediately broke into a wicked grin:
"Oh? The difference is that other bars don't have girls as sexy as you?"
Upon hearing this, the blonde beauty gave a faint smile.
She whispered to Jason:
"If you actually get in later, I wouldn't mind buying you a drink."
"Thank you so much."
Jason winked at the blonde woman and said with a smile:
I like it a bit stronger.
The blonde woman smiled and said nothing more.
Soon, the line reached the man in front of Edward and Jason.
The blonde woman's line was even longer; she had already entered the midnight bar.
The security guard at the entrance didn't say anything.
She simply took out a card with a picture on it and placed it in front of the man.
The man stared at the card and stammered:
"Um... a duck?"
The security guard shook his head, reached out and pushed the man, signaling him to leave.
Why?
The man questioned the security guard, looking surprised:
"That's exactly what that person just answered!"
However, the security guard remained standing there expressionless, ignoring the man's shouts.
"Fuck! This damn lousy bar! I don't want to go here!"
The man cursed and took two steps back, then turned and quickly left.
Edward and Jason exchanged a glance, thinking to themselves:
"What kind of strange rule is this? Do we have to solve riddles just to get in?"
But before the two could think about it, the bodyguard had already shown them the cards.
The card in his hand still had a picture of a duck on it.
Jason coughed lightly and answered directly:
"Duck."
The bodyguard nodded, pulled the rope, and lowered Jason inside.
Jason walked in excitedly, but instead of going directly into the bar, he waited for Edward at the entrance.
"It's a duck, Edward, trust me!"
Edward nodded, somewhat bewildered, and replied to the bodyguard:
"Duck...a duck?"
The bodyguard nodded again and let Edward in as well.
Jason smiled and gave Edward a high five as he approached, saying:
"Trust me, that picture is definitely a duck!"
The two chatted and laughed as they slowly walked into the midnight bar.
What they didn't hear was that the person who answered "duck" behind them was kicked out again.
"This isn't fair! Was that a swan? You damn black bastard!"
