Sadie and Kim didn't reply immediately, but instead listened silently to the sounds outside the door.

Only when the footsteps gradually faded away did they breathe a sigh of relief.

Sadie stared at the bowl of candy in Ava's hand and said in a low voice:

"I think listening to Li Yuan is the right thing to do; we can't eat the food here."

She looked at her two friends with a strange expression and tentatively asked:

"Didn't you guys notice what she said just now?"

Ava casually tossed the candy into the trash can and asked curiously:

"What did she say? I didn't hear her."

Jin lay relaxed on the bed, looking somewhat tired, and said:

"Let's stop what we're doing and wait for Ava's knight to come and rescue her."

"Jin! Don't talk nonsense."

Ava retorted in a low voice, but the smile on her face betrayed her true thoughts.

But the two friends acted as if they hadn't heard a thing.

Completely bewildered, Sadie stood up, pulled back the blinds, and looked out the window.

Outside, there was only an endless desert and the sun about to disappear below the horizon.

Inside the guest room at the other end of the house.

Now relaxed, Li Yuan had taken a quick shower and changed into clean clothes.

Li Yuan wandered around the room while drying his still-wet hair.

They looked around the room with some curiosity.

The furniture and decor of this room have a 50s style.

The main colors are mint green and cream yellow.

The wallpaper has a wood grain pattern, giving it a vintage feel.

Li Yuan casually fiddled with the decorations in the room, waiting for dinner to arrive.

About an hour later, Li Yuan, with his keen senses,

I heard footsteps coming from upstairs.

There were about three or four of them, all adults.

Li Yuan guessed that these were probably the Sinkingtons that Dale had mentioned.

A moment later, footsteps slowly approached Li Yuan's door.

A young man's voice slowly came from outside the door:

"Sir, dinner is ready. Please come and eat."

"Okay, coming right away."

Li Yuan casually responded but did not open the door immediately.

The people outside saw that Li Yuan did not open the door.

They waited there for a while before quietly leaving.

The same thing is happening on the other end.

However, it was the lady of the house, Betty, who came to knock on the door.

"Girls, come and eat! I specially made this local-style barbecue for dinner."

The three looked at each other, and Sadie responded:

"I'm sorry, madam, we're not very hungry, so we won't be eating tonight."

Besides Dell, four other people were found sitting at the table.

Sitting on the other side, Dale greeted the three with a smile:

"Come and sit down, don't be shy. The main course will be here soon, I'm sure you'll love it."

Upon hearing this, the three of them nervously swallowed.

When they realized Li Yuan wasn't in the restaurant, they immediately became frightened and instinctively backed away.

A fleeting thought of running away crossed my mind.

Meanwhile, Sadie and Kim were both resentful of Ava's impulsive nature.

But just then, a casual voice...

The three of them immediately felt reassured and sat down at the table with Li Yuan.

Seeing this, Dell stood up and introduced with a smile:

"These are the Sinkingtons, and their son."

Sadie looked at the four people's faces and asked with some surprise:

"How far along is Mrs. Sinkington in her pregnancy? You look so young."

Based on the twins' ages, the Sinkingtons must be close to 50, but they don't look it at all.

Sinkton, holding his wife who looked sad, smiled and said to Sadie:

The group looked at the piece of meat and nodded with forced smiles.

Mr. Sinkington, sitting opposite them, laughed heartily and praised them:

"Betty, we're so lucky to know all these old-fashioned family recipes!"

Betty smiled slightly and then distributed the pieces of meat to everyone's plates.

However, some candy was added to the plates of Sadie and the other two.

Betty explained with a broad smile:

"Eating more sugar will be good for you."

Before anyone could refuse, Mrs. Sinkington suddenly gestured for everyone to raise their hands.

She wanted everyone to pray before the meal.

This is typical of religious families; they give thanks to God for His blessings before meals.

Li Yuan, looking speechless, placed his hand on the hand of the person next to him.

I want to see what tricks these people are going to pull.

Mr. Sinkington slowly closed his eyes and began to recite the prayer:

Let us offer our gratitude.

We offer our worship to this sacred being.

For this blood, for these newborn vessels.

We bow down to you, for you are all-knowing.

We dedicate ourselves to you.

Because you are the Lord. Amen.

As Sadie and the other two listened to the distorted prayer, a storm raged within them.

Some of the sentences sound like vocabulary created by cult members!

Before they could speak, Mr. Sinkton finished reciting the prayer.

With a broad smile, she looked at the four guests and said softly:

"Try it, this is a special roast meat that Betty cooked especially for you. You can't get this anywhere else."

Betty noticed that the others had stopped picking up their cutlery.

A malicious smile immediately appeared on his face.

She gritted her teeth and hissed in a low voice:

"Eat up! Why aren't you eating my cooking!"

The three of them trembled with fear at Betty's sudden outburst.

They shrank back in fear.

Ultimately, all eyes turned to Li Yuan.

Li Yuan, however, remained calm, gazing at the six people across the table with a faint smile on his lips.
