Join the management group, I've stockpiled millions of supplies for survival at sea.
Chapter 38 is about to end.
[Round Thirteen - Yin Leyao]
Current location: 45th grid, "Safe Island"
Status: Energy 2/3, Wit 1, Caution 0.
The will to fight in dire straits has been broken.
Verified signal device: in possession.
Distance from the lighthouse: 15 squares.
The tide receded very slowly at this moment, carrying a chilling cold.
Yin Leyao stood on the safety island, watching the lighthouse flash in the distance.
Dusk was spreading a layer of dark gold foil across the sea, on the 45th square, the only absolutely neutral zone on the entire chessboard.
She escaped a crisis caused by a rising tide here.
Chen Haisheng (last place) rolls the tide die, and the pointer moves forward.
Low tide.
All positive effects remain in effect, but their values are halved, another window of halving.
Yin Leyao quickly laid out the grid in her mind:
46 "Distance Signal Station", 47 "Seagull Flock", 48 "Reef Area", 49 "Thunderstorm Remnants", 50 "Tide Observation Station", 51 "Buoy Tower", 52 "Pirate Watchtower". (See Chapter 36 for corresponding tile effects)
The crucial and extremely risky step is still the 49th frame.
What are the effects of thunderstorm remnants during low tide?
The rulebook states that the effect of the ebb tide is halved, and the effect of the 49th table is "Loss 2 lives and randomly destroys 1 tool".
After being halved, losing 1 life does not reduce the obsolescence effect (non-numerical effect), and the tool will still be obsolescence triggered.
The flare gun and waterproof flashlight are her most important items for passing the level. If either one is destroyed, the victory condition will be broken. 49 squares is really a roadblock.
Can she get around it?
Starting from square 45:
Moving dice 1-3 and 5-6 are both safe.
If it's between 4 and 49 squares, you'll step on a landmine, with a 1/6 probability.
The probability of encountering a problem is 1/6, which isn't high.
But she had no means to adjust her steps, no food or fresh water to pay for, and carefully marked her steps as consumed.
You can only gamble on your own luck.
But there's one thing she can do before rolling the dice.
-
Remaining energy: 2/3.
Yin Leyao looked down at the "Dry Driftwood Fragments" in her backpack.
Materials are supplies with no negative effects. The reason I kept them was to discard them when needed, thus lowering the trigger threshold for fighting spirit in desperate situations.
She doesn't need to worry about the quantity of supplies right now, but she's thinking about something else.
If the movement die rolls a 4—if she actually lands on the 49th square—Desperate Measures can negate curse-reversal effects like "Scrapped." She only takes 1 point of damage, and the tool remains unharmed.
However, the "Fighting Spirit in Desperate Situations" state is currently disabled, and the resource quantity is 3, which does not meet the trigger conditions.
If you dispose of the driftwood fragments before moving, your supplies will drop back to 2, the "Fighting Spirit" buff will be active again, and stepping on a mine will only reduce your health by 1.
What should I do?
Should you just discard them? The game rules don't explicitly allow you to freely discard supplies, but there is one rule for careful action.
"Reinforce": Consumes 1 material to protect your backpack from the next storm or theft.
The driftwood scraps are materials she can use to reinforce her backpack. Although there are no storms or theft threats right now, the rules don't say you have to face a threat to reinforce it.
She decided to carry it out.
Yin Leyao tied the piece of driftwood to the left side of her backpack. The piece of wood wasn't very big even though it was dry, and she used the remaining fibers of the rope to secure it.
Consumes 1 stamina and a piece of driftwood to perform "Reinforcement".
Backpack protection is in effect (until the next storm or theft).
Remaining energy: 1/3.
Backpack supplies: Signal gun (verified), waterproof flashlight (verified).
Total supplies: 2. The "Desperate Fighting Spirit" mechanic has been retried.
The +1 movement dice effect is permanent? No—the +1 movement from Desperate Struggle only applies while resources are ≤2. Previously, the +1 disappeared when the effect was removed, but it is now regained.
Yin Leyao looked at the golden shield that had lit up again on the panel and nodded slightly.
Now, even if she steps on the 49th square, she can keep her tools.
But she still hoped not to step on it.
-
Move the die: 2.
Desperate Spirit Bonus: +1.
Actual movement: 3 steps.
45th square + 3 steps = 48th square "Reef Area".
Yin Leyao's breathing calmed down; she was safe. She was one step away from stepping on a landmine, but she didn't.
Settlement grid
In the 48th square, "Reef Area," the effect of low tide is halved.
Original effect: Obtain 1 unit of fresh water.
Low tide halves: Look at the top card in the freshwater deck and choose whether to collect it.
Yin Leyao flipped to the top of the freshwater display case: "Bottled Freshwater"
The front is a transparent plastic bottle with clear water. This game teaches you never to believe what you see on the surface. And she is thirsty and tired now, so she really needs to replenish her water.
After thinking it over, she decided to endure it. She wasn't at the point of dying of thirst or hunger yet. Her current conditions were more than enough to pass the level. The energy expenditure was secondary. The key was to have an extra piece of supplies, which would dispel her fighting spirit in this desperate situation.
Remaining energy: 1/3.
Option: Do not receive fresh water.
Two supplies remain, and the fighting spirit in dire straits continues to be effective.
Backpack Underworld Judgment
Backpack: Signal gun (verified), waterproof flashlight (verified).
Total supplies: 2.
With the "Desperate Fighting Spirit" active, the metal resonance still exists, but the shield negates one risk of destruction, ensuring safety.
Event determination.
The 48th slot has no "?", so it will not trigger.
Yin Leyao stood at the edge of the reef area, watching the receding tide reveal more rocks. She avoided the remnants of the thunderstorm, but she knew there was still a hurdle ahead.
The 57th compartment is the "Illusion Zone".
-
Chen Haisheng (24th position, returned here after being robbed by pirates in the previous round)
My backpack is completely empty, and I'm mentally broken.
Move dice: 5, reach the 29th space "Driftwood" (low tide halves: flip the material card, you can choose whether to collect it).
Chen Haisheng drew a piece of "styrofoam", glanced at it, and threw it into the sea.
He no longer cared; all he could see ahead was not the lighthouse, but Yin Leyao.
He was robbed twice, and twice went from rich to poor. He believed that someone was stealing his luck.
His gaze was fixed on the figure in the 48th frame, and he stopped speaking, simply walking forward in silence.
-
Zhao Tiesha (32nd slot, only 2 lives remaining after being poisoned)
His abdomen was still cramping, but the worst of the attack had passed. He had been lying on the ice for a whole round, and now he could barely sit up, his lips pale.
Move dice: 3, reach the 35th square "Thunder Edge" (Tide Reduction: Thunder Edge has the effect of "Losing 1 life" during low tide - originally 2, now halved to 1, this is a dangerous square).
Zhao Tiesha crashed into the reef on the ice, and an arc of electricity shot out from underwater. He shuddered, and his health dropped from 2 to 1.
It was so close.
If he had left any later, he would have died at sea.
But he didn't die. Zhao Tiesha lay on the ice, panting heavily.
He only had a box of waterproof matches left in his backpack, and he didn't know if they were genuine or a trap.
He no longer had the courage to get checked.

[Round Fourteen - Yin Leyao]
Current location: 48th grid, "Reef Zone"
Desperate Measures: In effect (Immune to the next curse reversal, move dice +1)
Tidal changes
Yin Leyao threw the tide dice, and the pointer moved forward.
Low tide.
The sea was as smooth as a mirror, without a single ripple.
The tide has receded.
This is another full tailwind window since the sixth round.
Fully effective for replenishment, and fully effective for safety.
But the trap is also completely ineffective—there's no way to reverse the tide and clear up the danger; if you step on it, you step on it.
However, for Yin Leyao, Pingchao has one crucial advantage:
Tidal observation station.
The 50th slot, "Tide Observation Station," has the following effect: Peek at the next tidal phase and gain 1 Wit Mark.
She needs this.
We need to know whether the next tide will be high or low in order to plan the journey for the last ten squares.
Clever marking is even more necessary—the cautious marking has been exhausted, and the Desperate Shield can only save you once.
She needs another layer of insurance.
The number of steps from 48 to 50 squares is 2.
The minimum move die is 1 + Desperate Fighting Spirit + 1 = 2, which brings the total to 50 squares.
However, if you roll a 6, the bonus increases to 7 moves, exceeding 50 spaces.
She needs to control the landing point.
Move the dice 1+1=2 → 50 squares "Tide Observation Station", a perfect landing.
Move the dice 2+1=3 → 51 squares "Buoy Tower".
Pingchao directly obtained 1 material, increasing his resources to 3, and his fighting spirit in dire straits was lifted. Not good.
Move the dice 3+1=4 → 52 squares "Pirate Watchtower".
There is a question mark surrounding the Pingchao incident; the outcome could be good or bad, and there are risks involved.
Move the dice 4+1=5 → 53 squares "Drifting Treasure Chest". Roll the lucky dice when the tide is high. Odd numbers result in resources, even numbers in traps. Resources increase risk.
移动骰5+1=6→ 54格「浮木」。平潮获得1材料,物资增加。
Moving the dice 6+1=7 → 55 squares "Safe Island", absolutely safe, but skipping the observation station means losing the opportunity to obtain tidal information and clever marking.
Aside from moving to 50 squares, other landing points either increase resources to overcome desperate situations or trigger events that increase risk, but she has no way to adjust her step count.
Is it okay to gamble?
