Transmigrated with a Demon-Refining Pot: Hehehe, Refine in an instant
Chapter 25 Tacit Understanding
The next morning, Ron set off with his men.
It was still the same forty-odd people, still wearing cloth masks.
The leader was still Laun, while Ron mingled in the crowd, wearing the most ordinary clothes and carrying his Nine of Bamboo.
Ron, mounted on his horse, glanced back at Ron. Ron nodded, and Ron waved his hand, signaling the group to head east.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Stone Creek Ridge, another group of bandits also set off.
Leading the group was Locke, Boris's captain of guard. Boris himself mingled in the crowd, wearing old leather armor and with his face covered by a black cloth.
Boris has figured out Stony Brook Territory thoroughly and has decided to make his move today.
If Ron can impersonate a bandit, why can't he?
Peter has a lot of good stuff on him. Rather than letting Ron enjoy it all by himself, he might as well grab a piece of the pie for himself.
As for framing Ron? That's a piece of cake!
Ron's men arrived first.
The farm had already been looted once, so there should still be some junk left, but Ron's main purpose for this trip was destruction.
With a wave of his hand, the crowd rushed in, picked and chose, and finally set the house on fire.
Just as the black smoke rose, the sound of horses' hooves suddenly came from afar.
Ron looked up and saw another group of bandits, more than fifty people, coming this way.
The two groups stopped, several hundred steps apart.
Lauen gripped the hilt of his sword and asked in a low voice, "Sir, shall we fight?"
Ron didn't say anything, just stared at the group of people.
The leader opposite them was a burly man on horseback, also looking this way. In the crowd behind him, there was a figure... that looked somewhat familiar.
Ron squinted.
The man was also staring in their direction.
The two groups stared at each other for a few moments, and then they suddenly understood.
Boris! Ron!
Ron's lips twitched slightly.
interesting.
Both sides huddled together, seemingly discussing the matter.
After Ron's discussion ended.
He gestured for Lauen to spur his horse forward a few steps, and the leader on the opposite side also stepped forward a few steps. The two were fifty paces apart, and neither spoke.
After a long pause, Laun spoke first, his voice low: "Brother, which side are you from?"
The man opposite chuckled, his voice low and menacing: "Just passing by. Thinking of making a quick buck."
Laun nodded: "What a coincidence, me too."
The two stared at each other for a while longer.
"How about we go big?"
Suddenly, someone across from me said, "I can't eat all by myself."
Lauen nodded: "I know."
The person opposite him looked at him and asked, "Together?"
Laun paused for two seconds, then nodded: "Together!"
The two men turned around and called to their respective groups. The two groups were several dozen paces apart. There were nearly a hundred people, including four high-ranking knights as squires.
There is only one goal—Peter's Estate.
Peter was eating at the manor.
His territory was looted for several days in a row, and was almost completely ransacked.
The serfs are gone, the food is gone, the farm tools are gone, and now he can only stay in the manor, living off the little food he has left.
But at least the manor is still there, the walls are still there, and those enchanted crossbows are still there.
As long as he can hold out until reinforcements arrive, he still has a chance to turn the tide.
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out outside.
Peter frowned: "What's wrong?"
A guard stumbled in, shouting, "Sir! Bandits! Lots of bandits! They're coming for the manor!"
Peter jumped to his feet, his face ashen.
He rushed to the wall and looked out. A dark mass of people was charging towards the manor. Leading them were two masked men on horseback, looking menacing.
"Damn it, this local lord has absolutely no credibility!"
"Fire arrows! Fire arrows!" Peter shouted.
The archers frantically drew their bows, the enchanted crossbows humming as arrows shot out, felling several men. But there were too many of them; as those in front fell, those behind continued to charge.
Four figures rushed to the front, moving at an astonishing speed.
They're high-level! Four high-level ones!
Peter's legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground.
It’s over.
The wall was breached in less than a minute.
Four high-ranking warriors attacked simultaneously, using their battle qi to scale the walls and destroy the watchtowers. The archers didn't even have time to aim before being killed.
Locke kicked the door open, and the rest of the men rushed in, hacking at anyone they saw.
Ron and Boris mingled in the crowd, watching their men pin the guards down one by one.
When Peter was dragged out by Lawn, he was trembling all over and could barely speak.
"You...you know who I am! I am the son of Earl Red Maple! How dare you touch me—"
Before he could finish speaking, he was punched in the face.
Ron picked him up and looked at Ron. Ron shook his head, indicating that he shouldn't kill him yet.
Peter was tied up and carried with him.
Chaos erupted in the manor. Two groups rushed into the houses, ransacking them and taking things away.
Grain, tools, gold and silver utensils, were hauled away in cartloads.
Ron, with Laun in tow, searched for the elf's house.
But someone beat him to it—Colin.
He had visited Stone Creek Estate and remembered its approximate location.
Several masked men stood at the entrance to the elf room.
He lowered his voice and said, "We'll take this place for now, you can leave."
Laun sneered, "Whoever sees it first gets to own it? Who made that rule? We didn't agree to it!"
The leader from the opposite side also came out of the elf's room. Ron could vaguely see nine jade boxes neatly arranged inside through the crack in the door.
The two groups faced off, their hands on their sword hilts.
The atmosphere instantly became tense.
Ron stood at the back of the crowd, watching this scene unfold.
He glanced at the person opposite him; the leader of the group was Boris's captain of guards, a high-ranking knight squire.
Boris himself should be in the crowd, but I couldn't tell which one it was, since Ron knew to change his hood.
If a real fight breaks out, it's hard to say who will win or lose.
But no one can accept the loss.
The question is, is it worth it?
The two groups then sat down separately for another meeting.
"Peter is in our hands; we'll negotiate with them."
The fairy insect and Peter are bound by a contract; stealing the fairy insect is useless. They can only take the insect by killing Peter. If they don't kill him, they can only force him to give it up voluntarily.
After the meeting, both groups were clearly aware of the current situation.
"Hey bro, wanna talk?"
Lauen nodded and walked over.
The two stood in the corner, neither of them removing their masks.
The other side spoke first: "The Sprite Bug, my people got it first."
Lauen shook his head: "Peter is in our hands. You're useless just because you have worms."
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
"Then what should we do? Fight it?"
Laun looked at him: "If you agree, then I agree."
The other side fell silent: "Splitting it in half?"
"Can!"
There are nine spirit insects in Stone Creek Territory: three potion spirit insects and six agricultural spirit insects. Two of them have damaged cordyceps; someone impersonating Ron sabotaged them last time.
The two damaged insects were a potion-making insect and an agricultural insect.
In this way, each side gets three good insects and one magic potion insect.
What remains is a damaged potion worm and a good and a bad agricultural worm.
Ron naturally chose the Potion Worm, and Boris's side didn't lose out either. Who knows how much longer the Potion Worm's lifespan is? What if it dies before the Cordyceps can be cultivated properly?
After both sides put away their respective sprites, Laun brought Mr. Peter up.
"Master Peter, you should understand the situation now."
"Breaking the contract with the spirit insect is better for everyone. Otherwise, locking you up and torturing you might not be enough for your pampered body," Locke threatened.
"That pepper spray is unpleasant, let alone torture, right?" Laun chimed in from the side.
"I can break the contract, but what will it take for you to spare my life?" Peter pleaded.
"Once you break the contract, you will no longer have what we want."
"Think about it, you are, after all, a son of an earl. We don't want to completely anger His Excellency the Earl if there's no vested interest involved, don't you agree?"
Peter believed this analysis and broke the contract with the spirit.
After both parties completed the inspection.
Peter was stabbed to death by Locke.
Locke was watching him closely, so Lauen stepped forward and delivered a finishing blow.
Ron felt a pang of regret; his good older brother had just passed away.
It will be hard to find something like this again next time.
