Chapter 51 The Extremis Virus Appears!
In the meditation room of the Ancient One, the sandalwood incense still rises gently.
Master Wang and Modu rushed over after being summoned.
No sooner had the ceremony ended than the Ancient One dropped a bombshell.
"Guess what level Lin Jie reached in his spatial teleportation practice today?"
The Ancient One, unusually, kept everyone in suspense.
Upon hearing this, both Mo Du and Master Wang felt a pang of jealousy.
Another breakthrough?!
You've only been in Kamar-Taj for a few days? Less than half a month at most!
What other people can't overcome in their entire lives, this kid broke through in the time it takes to eat a meal?
Modu forced a stiff smile: "That's a good thing. Junior Brother is exceptionally talented; he can teleport to other planets now, right?"
Master Wang chimed in, but with a touch more daring: "Senior Brother, broaden your horizons! I bet Lin Jie can now freely roam between different dimensions!"
The Ancient One shook her head, her tone carrying a subtle, complex emotion: "Using the power of the Tesseract, he not only broke through the barriers of dimensions..."
At this point, Gu paused, looking at the expectant yet fearful eyes of the two, and finished the second half of the sentence, word by word: "He also teleported me directly to Dormammu's dark dimension."
"..."
"..."
The quiet room fell into a deathly silence.
Master Wang and Modu's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and their mouths were agape enough to fit a fist.
Master, could you please stop panting when you speak?!
Teleporting directly to Dormammu's lair?!
This isn't just a breakthrough; it's like rubbing the faces of all the mages in Kamar-Taj into the ground!
After all these years of training, Mo Du hadn't even touched the threshold of the other-dimensional space, yet Lin Jie had directly crossed over to the highest level of the dimension?!
"Not only that," the Ancient One added, seeing the two's horrified expressions, "he was even able to forcefully open the portal again in front of Dormammu and bring us back."
Even the usually composed Master Wang couldn't help but gasp in surprise.
In the Dark Dimension, forcibly opening a door and running away? Is that something a human would do?!
"Didn't you guys think there might be something wrong with this?" the Ancient One suddenly asked.
Master Wang's mind worked incredibly fast; he immediately realized what was happening, and his expression changed: "Master, do you suspect that Lin Jie secretly learned dark magic? Without dark magic as a guide, how could he so accurately pinpoint the dark dimension?!"
Upon hearing this, Mordo immediately seized upon it as if he had found a handle to use against him, loudly echoing, "Master! I told you so! This kid is definitely suspicious! He's definitely colluding with the dark forces! He must be expelled from Kamar-Taj immediately!"
The Ancient One shook her head again: "That's the strangest thing. I examined him carefully, and there wasn't even a trace of dark magic about him."
This simply doesn't make sense.
Without black magic, they can move freely in and out of the dark dimension.
This is beyond the comprehension of all magical theories in Kamar-Taj.
The Ancient One turned around, looked at the night outside the window, and let out a long sigh.
"I really don't know whether leaving him in Kamar-Taj is a blessing or a curse."
Master Wang quickly stepped in to smooth things over: "Master, I don't think Lin Jie is a bad person. He might just be... naturally talented. We can't suspect him of being a traitor just because he's so quick to understand."
Modu snorted coldly, clearly still unconvinced. But knowing his master had his own plans, he didn't say anything more.
"I'll be going out for a few days to see an old friend," the Ancient One interrupted the argument, turning to look at the Wong. "I'm temporarily entrusting the affairs of Kamar-Taj to you. Remember, keep a close eye on Lin Jie and don't let anything unclean get close to him and affect his mind."
Master Wang secretly groaned inwardly.
It's me again?! Master, please have mercy on me!
I really don't want to deal with this living ancestor anymore!
Seemingly seeing through Master Wang's predicament, the Ancient One smiled slightly: "Don't worry, the spatial laws contained in the Tesseract will keep him busy for a long time. During this time, he won't cause any more trouble."
Upon hearing this, Master Wang finally felt relieved. Thank goodness!
"Supreme Master".
Seeing that the Ancient One was about to leave, Mordo quickly called out to her, "I reported to you before that those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are still circling around Kathmandu, seemingly searching for us. Should I go and get rid of them?"
The Ancient One waved her hand: "Don't worry about them. If they can't find the entrance, they'll get bored and leave."
The Ancient One always kept her distance from Nick Fury and his gang of politicians and agents, too lazy to get involved in their intricate power struggles.
"Understood." Mordo nodded, then reported another important piece of information, "There's one more thing, things aren't very peaceful in New York lately."
"What's wrong?" the Ancient One asked casually.
"In the past few days, several bizarre explosions have occurred in downtown New York City. No traces of explosives were found at the scene, and after investigation, it seems to be... a suicide bombing." Mordo's expression was grave.
Human self-destruction?
The Ancient One paused slightly, her brow furrowing involuntarily.
She had indeed seen this scene in the future trajectory predicted by the Eye of Agamotto.
If she remembered correctly, this was caused by that thing called the "Extremis Virus".
It seems Tony Stark is in for another busy period.
"I understand. Let the superheroes handle these mundane troubles. As long as it doesn't involve interdimensional magical invasion, we at Kamar-Taj will not interfere."
Human minds are more complex than any magic, and the earth has never lacked those who would take risks for profit and ambition.
But in the Ancient One's view, these internal struggles and the troubles brought about by technology all fall within the scope of the Avengers' business.
Kamar-Taj's duty is to defend against the intrusion of supernatural forces; she will not overstep her bounds to interfere with the course of worldly affairs.
The established timeline means that even if she forcibly intervenes, what is destined to happen will still happen.
In contrast, Lin Jie, a variable completely outside of all predicted trajectories, is what she needs to focus on most right now.
"Just have the resident monks in New York keep an eye on things; there's no need to interfere."
After giving his instructions in a calm tone, Master Gu Yi nodded slightly, which was considered a farewell to Master Wang and Mordo.
Then, she casually drew a golden portal, stepped inside, and disappeared.
"Respectfully bidding farewell to the Venerable Master."
Master Wang and Modu bowed in unison.
