American comics: Incredible comprehension, hand-crafted forbidden spells
Chapter 17: He can even know the made-up spells?
Master Wang has now given up on everything.
He was usually a very disciplined person, but in order to keep his precious son Lin Jie in Kamar-Taj, he went all out and even abandoned his own dignity.
Lin Jie is not only incredibly talented, but also an upright person who dares to shoulder responsibility when things happen.
Letting such a pure-hearted and promising talent slip away would be a tremendous loss for Kamar-Taj.
What's even more frightening is that if people are tricked into becoming believers by evil gods like Dormammu, then Earth will truly be doomed.
Watching Lin Jie walk away, Carter let out a long sigh and slumped into his chair.
"Good heavens, teaching apprentices is more tiring than fighting Dormammu's fanatics!"
Carter wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling utterly exhausted.
Upon hearing his complaint, Master Wang's anger flared up instantly.
"How dare you say that!" Master Wang glared, his voice low and menacing. "You've got some nerve, making up magic out of thin air! You've completely ignored the rules of Kamar-Taj! If the Sorcerer Supreme finds out, let's see how you handle this!"
Carter shrank back, looking aggrieved, and protested, "Grand Mage, I was just pushed to the limit! Special cases require special treatment!"
"You saw it yourself. He only practiced teleportation for one night, and he can open a portal directly to the King's Palace in Asgard! If he keeps practicing like this, is there any place in the entire universe that he can't go?"
"Even you, a grand mage, can't achieve this kind of precise cross-dimensional teleportation. If we really can't suppress him, where will we put our faces?"
Carter felt increasingly wronged as he spoke.
How does this kid's brain work? His comprehension is insane!
Although Master Wang thought Carter's move was too ridiculous, he also understood his predicament.
Since things have come to this, we have no choice but to grit our teeth and move forward.
However, a terrifying thought suddenly popped into Master Wang's mind: "You think... this kid might actually master that made-up 'fear magic' when he gets home tonight?"
"Impossible!" Carter dismissed the question without hesitation, waving his hand in denial. "Archmage, don't scare yourself. We just made this up with pure talk; we don't even have a basic technique. What would he use to practice?"
That's the truth.
If you can even master something you made up, that's not called high comprehension, that's called creating something out of thin air!
That's creating magic out of thin air!
This is something that even the Ancient One, who has lived for hundreds of years, couldn't do, let alone Master Wang.
"Create magic? How is that possible!" Carter shook his head, his tone utterly certain. "Our magic in Kamar-Taj relies entirely on the power of the Triune God, the Vishanti. No matter how monstrous Lin Jie is, he couldn't possibly bypass the source of magic and create magic on his own. How could he possibly be more powerful than a god?"
After listening, Master Wang's brows relaxed slightly, and he nodded.
indeed.
The power of magic always has a source.
Without the support of Vishanti's magic, it's all just empty talk.
However, just as Master Wang was relieved, another, even more troublesome problem came to mind.
"What if... he can't master it and discovers we're all in cahoots to cheat him?"
Master Wang felt a chill run down his spine.
Although Lin Jie is straightforward, he's smart.
If they find themselves being made a fool of and run away in a fit of anger, wouldn't today's performance have backfired?
"Don't worry, Archmage!"
Carter chuckled and patted his chest.
"Judging by the dates, the Venerable Master will be back tomorrow!"
"If we can just get through tonight, this hot potato can be handed over to the boss to deal with. The boss can definitely keep him in check!"
Shifting the blame.
This is Carter's ultimate plan.
As for whether he will be punished by the Ancient One afterwards?
That's all for tomorrow; at worst, I'll get a beating.
Master Wang glanced at Carter from head to toe, then snorted coldly:
"You little rascal, you're full of mischief. But your acting today was pretty good."
"Especially the part where he's so scared he kneels on the ground, his legs going weak was so natural, it was like he was just playing himself, right?"
Carter scratched his head awkwardly: "Grand Master, please don't make fun of me. Back when I was out there trying to make a living, if I didn't have some acting skills to save my life, I would have been beaten to death long ago."
Hearing Carter's somewhat poignant words, Master Wang stopped teasing him.
He turned to look at the sky outside the window, silently praying: I hope this kid won't cause any more trouble tonight.
.......
As Master Wang and Carter sighed deeply in the library, an eerie quiet permeated the New York Temple night.
The Ancient One sat cross-legged in the center of the meditation room, his eyes slightly closed.
Suddenly, her brow furrowed as she sensed a powerful energy fluctuation emanating from the space.
"What a rare guest."
Gu Yi uttered three words softly and slowly opened her eyes.
The air rippled outwards like waves on water.
In the blink of an eye, an old man with a white beard, wearing dazzling golden armor and holding a golden spear, stepped into the quiet room out of thin air.
It was none other than Odin, the king of gods, who had just displayed his divine power in the library.
"It's been centuries since we last met. What brings the God-King to my little Kamar-Taj?"
Gu Yi slowly stood up, nodded slightly as a greeting, and wore a flawless smile.
In terms of age and seniority, Odin, the ruler of Asgard, is indeed older than her.
Gu Yi will still give the face that is due.
Despite the polite formalities, Gu Yi was secretly displeased.
Arriving uninvited, tearing through the temple's spatial barrier to barge in—this was a blatant provocation.
The Ancient One's words were barbed, a reminder to Odin: This is my territory, you'd better be polite.
Odin, however, seemed not to understand. He strode to the futon in the middle of the quiet room, sat down cross-legged, and took the initiative.
"I should not disturb the Venerable Master's secluded place of meditation."
Odin stared at the Ancient One with his single eye, his tone curt.
"But today, you people of Kamar-Taj have opened a portal into my Asgardian royal palace! How do you intend to settle this score?"
Gu remained unfazed, not even blinking an eye.
Can someone open the gates of Kamar-Taj and enter Asgard?
What kind of cosmic joke is this?
Are Asgard's defensive barriers just for show?
Is Odin getting senile and doesn't even know to fix the broken barrier?
"Is that so? I've never heard of it."
Gu Yi spoke calmly, simply playing dumb.
Odin's gray eyebrows instantly furrowed into a knot.
Gu Yi, you're trying to renege on your promise, aren't you!
"You're always focused on the past and future of the Earth, don't you have time to manage the people under your command?"
Odin snorted coldly, his tone filled with undisguised sarcasm.
The Ancient One chuckled softly: "God-King, you jest. How could any sorcerer in Kamar-Taj possibly possess the ability to break through the God-King's barrier?"
Odin's face darkened, and his voice rose several decibels: "Not a fully-fledged mage! An apprentice! According to your men, he's only been learning magic for less than seven days, yet he appeared in my hall the moment he opened the door!"
An apprentice who has been learning magic for less than seven days?
Hearing this, Gu Yi's heart was finally stirred.
If you entered using access to the Asgardian Rainbow Bridge, that's not surprising.
But what if you just create a portal out of thin air and force your way in...?
This talent is absolutely outrageous!
If the newcomers to Kamar-Taj are really this powerful, then Asgard's proud Rainbow Bridge might as well be dismantled and sold as scrap metal.
However, Gu Yi carefully went through the list of newly recruited people in her mind.
Nothing.
She was very selective when choosing people; she had never seen such a monster before.
In her premonition, the person with the greatest magical talent on Earth was Stephen Strange, the neurosurgeon who was currently operating in a New York hospital.
Could it be that we've been too preoccupied with dealing with Dormammu's fanatics lately and missed some promising talents?
Looking at Odin's serious old face, the Ancient One knew he wouldn't lie.
At their level, it would be shameful for them to come to someone else's house and spout lies.
Ancient One rolled his eyes slightly and raised an eyebrow: "My Kamar-Taj can actually recruit apprentices of this caliber? Is the God-King making fun of me?"
Even if he believed it to some extent in his heart, Gu Yi would never admit it out loud.
If she admits it, and Odin uses it as an excuse to accuse her of deliberately condoning her subordinates' provocation of Asgard, then she'll be in big trouble.
"Whether you know or not is irrelevant!" Odin, having lost patience with further beating around the bush, slammed his spear into the ground. "This brat has violated the dignity of the realm of the gods; you must hand him over to me. Asgard is not a marketplace where you can come and go as you please!"
The fox's tail has finally been revealed.
Gu Yi sneered inwardly.
If an old acquaintance who hadn't seen each other for centuries suddenly showed up at the door, Odin simply wouldn't have the nerve to reprimand him for a clueless apprentice.
Given his status, if he were to send any of his subordinates to deliver a message, the Ancient One would have to give him some face.
But now, the God-King himself has stepped in and is exerting pressure indirectly, all in order to snatch people away!
This further proves that the apprentice, whom even Odin coveted, was definitely a rare and exceptional treasure.
You want to snatch someone away from me, the Ancient One?
None of the doors!
"If it was truly my subordinates who were ignorant and offended the divine realm, I apologize to the God-King."
Gu Yi clasped his hands together, his tone humble, but his eyes were unusually firm.
"God King, you roam the Nine Realms, your fame is renowned, who in the entire universe does not know of your magnanimity?"
"If we were to fuss over a mere apprentice, it would likely damage the God-King's prestige if word got out."
"Once I've dealt with these trivial matters in New York, I'll definitely go to Asgard in person to apologize to you. Is that alright with you?"
They had a whole repertoire of sales pitches.
The subtext is simple: Want people? No way.
Go back to your Asgard and wait for my news.
