Thanos was thrown to the floor, filled with humiliation. He watched as the Ancient One reached out her hand, seemingly wanting to check his injuries.

"Don't touch me!" Thanos roared in his mind.

"A scholar can be killed but not humiliated!" He mustered the last of his strength, opened his blood-red maw, and fiercely bit at the Ancient One's wrist.

Just then, something unexpected happened.

A red magical chain shot out like lightning, precisely wrapping around Thanos's snake neck and tightening abruptly.

Thanos didn't even touch the Ancient One's sleeve before he was forcibly pulled back and slammed to the ground.

"Oh dear, Venerable Sorcerer, where did you get such a thick snake?"

The king strode into the temple, clutching the other end of a scarlet chain.

Gu Yi looked at the large snake that was being strangled and calmly said, "Your Majesty, you've tightened it too much; it will hurt it."

Wang frowned: "Master, it tried to bite you just now! This thing is wild and difficult to tame."

"It's alright." Gu Yi smiled. "Animals have a natural instinct for self-preservation; there's no need to bother with a snake."

After hearing Gu Yi's words, Wang relaxed his guard slightly. He walked over to Lin Jie and asked curiously, "Junior Brother, where did you guys catch this thing?"

"Right next to the Himalayas," Lin Jie replied casually. "It just fell from the sky."

"It fell from the sky? That's not normal. Should we investigate it carefully?" Wang asked with some concern.

The three of them stood in the center of the hall and started chatting.

"This little thing looks really bad." Gu Yi looked at the limp snake and turned to Lin Jie, instructing, "Lin Jie, get it a cage and keep it here for now. Once it's healed, release it back into the wild."

"No problem, Master." Lin Jie readily agreed.

He took two steps forward, squatted down in front of Thanos, stared at the large purple and white snake, and spoke with a smile.

"Little snake, my name is Lin Jie. From now on, we'll be living together."

Thanos stared intently at Lin Jie, his eyes filled with a fierce killing intent.

A small snake?!

I am the overlord who is about to conquer the multiverse! You actually called me a little snake?! And you want to keep me as a pet?!

Thanos wished he could bite Lin Jie's neck off right now.

Sensing the giant snake's fierce gaze, Lin Jie's smile widened even further.

He leaned closer and said slowly, in a voice only the two of them could hear, "However, you'd better behave. I used to have a snake, it had a terrible temper, and then it started disobeying me..."

Lin Jie paused, his eyes suddenly turning cold: "I just peeled it and threw it directly into the hot pot to stew. It actually tasted quite good."

Thanos's scales suddenly exploded.

Thanos stared at Lin Jie with his vertical pupils incredulously, his heart filled with turmoil.
