American comic: From Beijing with Love, starting with a mutant.
Chapter 9: The butcher's knife flips once, even bullets have to be rerouted.
The passageway was filled with a piercing buzzing sound.
Footsteps and the clanging of metal came from around the corner; the bolt was pulled back, and the magazine was loaded.
"Twelve people"
Stephen Chow's ears twitched.
"No, there are fourteen. Two of them are wearing soft-soled shoes; they must be technicians."
The rapids ask.
"Are your ears that good?"
"When I was selling pork, Old Zhao next door would steal three ounces of meat from me every day."
"I learned how much he stole by listening to the rhythm of his cutting meat."
As soon as he finished speaking, a row of gun barrels emerged from around the corner.
"Fire!"
Twelve assault rifles fired simultaneously.
Zhou Xingxing did not back down. He flipped the butcher knife in his hand and then made a diagonal cut with the blade.
The first bullet grazed the back of the knife and embedded itself in the ceiling.
The second bullet, deflected by the blade, changed its trajectory and struck the wall, scattering sparks.
The third one, the fourth one, the fifth one.
The knife drew an arc in the air, moving so fast that only a flash of silver light could be seen.
The bullet wasn't stopped, it was deflected.
Instead of clashing head-on, they used the opponent's force to deflect it, changing the angle of each bullet slightly as it flew past Stephen Chow.
Even while carrying Anton, his steps remained steady.
For three years when I was selling meat, I carried half a pig to the chopping board every day, rain or shine; it was much heavier than this.
The rapids behind were dumbfounded.
He prepared his cover, the wind blade in his palm poised to strike.
But Stephen Chow didn't give him a chance to make a move.
seven steps.
Stephen Chow took seven steps and reached the center.
The first guard was still pulling the trigger when Stephen Chow was already right in front of him.
The butcher knife flipped over, and with the back of the blade facing forward, it slammed into the gun barrel with a loud crack, knocking the barrel askew.
The guard's hand was shattered by the impact, and the gun flew out of his hand.
Then, the tip of the knife flicked downwards, and the vest's shoulder strap broke.
With another flick, the belt broke.
The guard's equipment fell off, and magazines and communicators were scattered all over the ground.
The person was still standing, but was completely naked.
The second guard came up with a gun pointed at him, and Stephen Chow stepped aside to avoid the muzzle of the gun.
Anton almost slipped, but he bounced up to steady himself and kicked the butt of the gun.
The butt of the rifle slammed back and hit the guard's nose, splattering blood everywhere.
The third and fourth attempted to flank from both sides.
Stephen Chow spun around halfway, and the butcher knife cut an arc, severing the vest straps.
Cut the gun sling and the buckle around the waist.
Both men's equipment fell apart at the same time; their guns and ammunition were lost, and their belts were cut off.
One of the guards tripped and fell, his trousers falling down to his ankles, and he hit the back of his head on his colleague's knee.
The two people were stacked together.
In less than fifteen seconds, eight people were lying in the corridor.
The remaining four guards realized what was happening and began to retreat.
But the corridor was only so wide, and the speed at which they could retreat couldn't keep up with the speed at which Zhou Xingxing walked.
Until the last guard was struck on the back of the neck with the back of a knife.
Fourteen people lay on the ground, groans rising and falling.
No one died, but they won't be able to get up for a while.
Jiliu stood still, the vortex in his palm dissipated, and the wind blades disappeared.
"What exactly do you do for a living?"
"Agent Ling Lingqi, Stephen Chow, Stephen Chow, call me whatever you like."
Stephen Chow twirled the butcher knife in his hand and then tucked it back into his waistband.
Have you ever heard of "Butcher Ding dissecting an ox"? Mine is called "Butcher Ding dissecting a soldier."
"If you find the right joints and load-bearing points, it will fall apart if you lift it too much; there are gaps between the structural components."
Jiliu opened its mouth, then decided not to ask any more questions.
The two continued running towards the exit.
As he walked through the sunken corridor, Stephen Chow slowed his pace.
A row of different cells appeared on the left side of the corridor.
There is no metal.
The walls and floors of the quarantine area are made entirely of plastic and glass.
Even the door hinges are made of carbon fiber.
The light fixtures are embedded in the ceiling, so the wires are not visible.
Most of the cells were empty.
Only the innermost room had its lights on.
A person was sitting inside through the bulletproof glass.
The young woman is in her early twenties.
Her green hair was loose over her shoulders, and she was wearing a straitjacket.
Her arms were crossed and fixed in front of her chest, and her fingers were individually wrapped, making it impossible for her to move any of them.
She sat cross-legged on the floor in the center of the cell, her back straight and her chin slightly raised.
The rapids are pushing us forward.
"Let's go! The alarm's been going off for almost three minutes. Reinforcements are on their way!"
Stephen Chow didn't move.
He stared at the green-haired woman for five seconds.
He started to plan in his mind.
The fact that this woman was locked in a metal-free cell suggests that her abilities are related to metal or magnetic fields.
The ability to work with metals is relevant to the infrastructure sector.
Rebar bending.
Metal welding.
Tower crane operation.
If we could manipulate magnetic fields, we could achieve precise calibration of high-speed rail tracks and assembly of steel segments for undersea tunnels.
Cable traction for large bridges.
Damn, this is a mobile multi-purpose crane.
Even if we take a step back and assume this woman has no skills whatsoever, taking her back to work at the construction site canteen would save us the money we would have spent on temporary workers.
Since we're already here, we can't come empty-handed; that's basic courtesy.
"You go first. The exit is at the second fork in the road ahead; turn right. I'll be there in a minute."
The rapids are getting stronger.
"Are you crazy? Leave now!"
Stephen Chow unloaded Anton and stuffed him into Jiliu's arms.
"One minute"
"Carry your brother and go first, I'll be there soon."
Jiliu staggered a step under Anton's pressure, before he could even curse.
Stephen Chow had already turned and walked towards the prison cell.
The green-haired woman in the cell looked up and narrowed her eyes.
She couldn't remember how long she had been in that lab.
Stryker's people came to draw blood for testing and attached various instruments to her body.
She tried to break free, but the straitjacket was made of a material designed for her abilities.
Now a man suddenly appears, and she's unsure whether it's a rescue or an experiment.
Stephen Chow walked to the door and examined the structure of the door lock.
The buckle is made of pure plastic, with no electronic components; it is purely mechanical.
The four rotating bolts require a special key to be turned simultaneously to open.
Stephen Chow raised his right foot and aimed it at the center of the door.
One kick.
The glass didn't break, but the latches couldn't withstand the impact, and all four bolts popped out of their slots at the same time.
The door slammed inward, hitting the floor with a dull thud.
The green-haired woman stared at him.
Stephen Chow stepped over the door panel, walked up to her, and squatted down.
Up close, the woman had beautiful features, but her face was pale and her lips were chapped.
There are dark circles under the eyes.
Malnutrition combined with chronic sleep deprivation.
The woman spoke in English, her voice hoarse.
"Who are you?"
"Your new boss"
Stephen Chow went around behind her to examine the structure of the restraint garment.
There are seven buckles on the back.
Stephen Chow stuck his finger into the gap of the buckle and pried it open with his luck.
With a snap, the buckle was broken off.
The binding clothes loosened and slipped off the woman's body.
The green-haired woman moved her fingers, bending and straightening them, her knuckles cracking.
She was half a head shorter than Stephen Chow when she stood up, but her posture was ramrod straight.
she says.
I won't thank you.
Stephen Chow had already turned and walked out.
"I didn't ask you to thank me."
"Come on, we'll talk outside."
Why should I go with you?
Stephen Chow didn't even turn his head.
"You can choose not to come, or you can stay here and wait for Stryker's men to come back and tie you up again."
"Anyway, I've already taken off the straitjacket; they'll use a stronger one next time."
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor.
The green-haired woman stood still for two seconds, then took a step and followed.
Her fingers spread slightly at her sides, and the metal pipes embedded in the wall began to vibrate.
The corridor light flickered.
Stephen Chow caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of his eye and was somewhat pleased.
Magnetic field manipulation.
He quickened his pace, his mind calculating the woman's labor costs.
At the fork in the road ahead, the raging torrent carried Anton and waited.
The expression on Stephen Chow's face was priceless when he saw a green-haired woman behind him.
"You picked up another one?"
"It's not called picking up, it's called introducing talent," Zhou Xingxing said, taking Anton back from him and carrying him on his shoulder again.
"Go, turn right, the exit is up there."
Three able-bodied people plus one unconscious person climbed up the exhaust pipe.
The green-haired woman crawled at the very back, staring at the man in front who was carrying people and still walking very fast.
She didn't know where this person was taking her, but at least it was better than staying in a prison cell.
