Chapter 68 Illegal Construction, Right?
The laughter from the loudspeaker still lingered.
The ground shook three times.
The reinforced concrete beneath my feet began to soften.
Wall plaster, flooring, load-bearing beams...
Even the exposed steel bars seemed to sink into a scalding pot of syrup, then twisted into gray-black rock spikes that lashed out at the three of them.
The King of Cards cursed in French, then flipped his hand, sending out a dozen or so playing cards that glowed purple.
The rock spikes were blasted to pieces, and stone dust covered his face, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
But the next glance made him want to curse.
The blasted gaps seemed to writhe like living things.
The gravel rolled back, the mud was compacted again, and in the blink of an eye, the broken rock spikes grew back intact.
"Did this bastard activate an auto-repair cheat underground?"
The Queen took two steps back, and a tear appeared in the hem of her trench coat.
On the other side, the entire dome pressed down.
Wolverine let out a low growl, shifted his feet, and forcefully pushed forward.
Six steel claws pierced the rock layer above, causing the shoulder and back muscles to bulge inch by inch while simultaneously cracking under the immense pressure.
The blood had barely spurted out when it was forcibly sewn back together by the abnormal self-healing factor, over and over again, causing excruciating pain.
"Logan! Can you handle this, buddy?" Gambit shouted.
Wolverine's neck veins bulged, but he didn't even turn his head.
"Stop talking nonsense, let's blow it up! I can hold out for another hundred years!"
Stephen Chow glanced up at the top of his head.
"Landslide? Your construction skills are terrible. Did you buy your diploma from Lanxiang Vocational School?"
Another rock spike grazed his ear and embedded itself in the wall.
"Not only did they cut corners, but the structure was also haphazardly constructed. And this landslide even involved illegal secondary backfilling?"
A burst of wild laughter came from the loudspeaker.
"You really dare to be so stubborn."
"In ten seconds, you'll be crushed into a pulp and stuffed into the foundation here! Free sustenance!"
Stephen Chow closed his eyes.
The King of Cards had just thrown out a string of powered cards when he caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of his eye and almost had a stroke from anger.
"Hey, bro! This isn't the time to AFK and sleep, is it? Wake up, we're about to be wiped out!"
Stephen Chow kept his eyes closed and ignored him.
Gently tap your left hand with your fingers together in front of your chest.
His breathing became shallow.
The shaking around them intensified.
The walls, floors, pillars—all the rocks were rising and falling and rearranging themselves like crazy.
Within this chaotic pulse, a deep and subtle rhythm lies hidden somewhere.
Just like the toughest, most difficult-to-gnaw pork bone under the butcher's block.
He was looking for that bone.
Another round of pressure is coming.
With a flick of his wrists, the King of Cards unleashed dozens of purple-glowing playing cards that scattered like petals in all directions, the explosions blasting the approaching rock wall back half a meter.
But half a meter later, a new wave of stones surged up.
He caught his breath. "I can only stop three more cars at most!"
Wolverine's knees were already half an inch into the ground, and blood was streaming down his back along his muscle lines.
He stared ahead, like an old wolf trapped in a snare.
"He's definitely hiding in the rocks, but I fucking can't smell it; this place smells like mud!"
Just then, half a head suddenly emerged from the crack in the ground next to them.
Disgusted.
It was a gerbil.
Whether it was a sudden pang of conscience or the fear of not being able to pay the final installment due to the landslide, the timid young man had mustered up his courage.
"The rock veins are converging! They're all heading to the right front! The thickest pillar is hollow inside!"
When the King of Cards saw him appear, he didn't even have the energy to utter a beautiful French compliment to the timely mole.
In an instant, Stephen Chow opened his eyes.
His gaze was fixed on the rock pillar ten meters away.
"Found you, you little bastard."
He took a step forward, like a knife fish sliding off a chopping board, passing through the dense, deadly stone spikes unscathed.
The moment the strategist saw a blur flash by, the butcher's knife was already drawn.
"Buzz".
The sound of the blade was extremely faint.
Stephen Chow swung his hand back, his movements powerful and unstoppable.
The invisible, crescent-shaped blade of energy slashed out along the ground, first cutting through the incoming rock spikes, then carving its way into the load-bearing rock pillar.
With a loud bang, the outer layer of the pillar exploded like a ripe watermelon, scattering pebbles all over the ground.
There are people inside.
The landslide left the person curled up inside the rock core, like a malignant tumor parasitizing the earth's veins, forcibly peeled out of its shell.
He stumbled as he landed, his maniacal laughter turning into astonishment.
How did you find me?
Stephen Chow flicked the stone dust off the tip of his knife.
"I've been slaughtering pigs in the Beijing market for three years, and my heart has long since become as cold as this butcher's knife."
"I can tell which piece is pork belly and which is tenderloin even with my eyes closed. Pork sellers are the best at feeling the bones."
The King of Cards whistled first.
The next second, Wolverine chuckled softly.
Shan Beng's eyes were sinister, and he slapped his hands in front of his chest.
The entire underground trembled violently three times, and all the rocks, debris, and soil from the foundation rushed towards him, clattering and enveloping him.
Chest, shoulders, arms, leg bones...
In the blink of an eye, it was covered with a layer of rock armor.
Three meters high.
Half a meter thick.
The person was no longer visible; only a pair of eyes remained embedded in the cracks of the rock.
The mountain collapsed and laughed loudly, its sound muffled within the rocky cliffs, like thunder in a drum.
Come on!
"Underground, I am God! You insects can't even tear my skin!"
Rocks fell like rain.
After the landslide created more space for them to move around, Wolverine, with his most volatile temper, was the first to rush forward.
Six adamantium alloy claws slammed into the thick rock armor.
Stone chips flew everywhere, and the claw sank halfway in. Suddenly, the surrounding rock and soil contracted, trapping the alloy claw tightly.
"not good!"
The moment the King of Cards uttered the shout, Mountain Collapse's fist came crashing down.
boom!
Wolverine flew sideways and eventually embedded himself in the wall.
"Take this French-style firecracker!"
The King of Cards grabbed a curved steel rod next to him, and purplish-red energy crawled all over the rod.
"You like repairing things, right?"
"I'll fix a bigger one for you!"
He twisted his waist and threw it.
The steel rod pierced the crevice of the rock on the side of the landslide, and the next second it exploded with a bang, blowing away half of the rock shell, and rubble collapsed all over the ground.
Before the King of Cards could even feel smug, he saw the rock and soil below the gap surge twice and then fill it back up in the blink of an eye.
The mountain collapsed, looked down at itself, and grinned.
"Your gua sha technique is quite good."
Gambit: "..."
He swallowed back the last French swear word.
The mountain collapsed and brought its hands together in the middle.
The rock walls on both sides suddenly ripped out dense, barbed stones that snapped together in the middle.
"Stephen!"
Stephen Chow stood in the center and didn't back down.
The butcher knife trembled incessantly in his palm, its blade emitting a low, barely suppressed groan of excitement, yearning to drink blood.
Stephen Chow didn't smile at all.
He looked down at the landslide below and spoke slowly.
"Illegal construction."
"Shoddy construction project".
"Today, I, representing the Safety Supervision Section of the 749th Bureau of China, will teach you a lesson in structural mechanics for free!"
