American comic: From Beijing with Love, starting with a mutant.
Chapter 16 When the Absolute Magnetic Monster Meets the Butcher's Knife
Lorna recalled some unpleasant things.
He's the one who got himself thrown into the lab!
"He is number one."
Stryker's lowest-ranking and longest-living modified assassin.
Aside from the time she was captured, she had seen this thing working in the lab.
Tear a disobedient mutant in half, then wipe your hands clean and eat a sandwich.
"Lorna, that person—"
Before the soft-serve ice cream could finish speaking, Number One suddenly appeared on the windowsill, the hem of his gray trench coat fluttering in the wind.
Wow! A close-up kill?
Stephen Chow pressed down on the brim of his hat and clicked his tongue in amazement.
Lorna's fingers opened and then clenched.
She could sense the weapons on Number One's body, and even the reinforcing materials implanted in his bones were all non-magnetic polymers.
My own abilities are of no use to it.
He looked around.
Hmm, TV, toaster, and table lamp...
Lorna wasn't sure she could defeat Number One by controlling these three things.
They climbed in through the window and landed silently.
"Polaris," Number One began, "The Doctor said it would be best to bring it back alive, but if that's inconvenient..."
He raised his right hand, his five fingers together.
"The head is also acceptable."
"Wait a moment."
Stephen Chow was still holding half a bowl of vanilla-flavored soft-serve ice cream he had just made.
He scooped up a spoonful and put it in his mouth, mumbling, "Brother, did you climb up from outside?"
Number One turned to look at him.
"Sixth floor exterior wall, did you climb up onto the roof of my Ford pickup truck?"
Number One did not answer.
Stephen Chow put the bowl on the coffee table, walked to the window, and looked down.
The pickup truck had two deep footprints on top and a crack in the windshield.
Stephen Chow turned around, his expression pained: "That was a car I borrowed!"
Number One frowned.
"Two dents in the roof! The side mirror is gone! The windshield is cracked! Do you know how expensive car repairs are in America? Just a side mirror costs over two hundred dollars!"
Stephen Chow pointed at Number One's nose, filled with righteous indignation:
"I can't control if you kill someone, but what's with stepping on my car? Who's going to reimburse me for this? Stryker? Have him transfer the money to me!"
Number One's expression turned confused.
In all his years of missions, he had never encountered a situation where the target didn't run away, beg for mercy, or fight back, but instead insisted on charging him for car repairs.
The confusion lasted only 0.3 seconds.
With a flick of his wrist, his fingertips pierced straight at Stephen Chow, a textbook example of a fatal blow.
Stephen Chow raised his hand and threw the ice cream at Number One's face.
He reached behind his waist with his right hand, and a silver light flashed. The butcher's knife was already positioned on the outside of Number One's forearm, who had just dodged the ice cream.
The blade glided along the surface of the gray arm, following the muscle lines upwards.
If you move forward another half inch, you can remove the entire arm along the joint.
Just as Stephen Chow was about to exert force with his wrist, Number One's arm suddenly retracted.
The speed is ridiculously fast.
The gray arm slid away from the edge of the blade, while the other hand was already smashing towards Zhou Xingxing's face.
This punch had no fancy moves.
Straight, fast, heavy.
Seeing that things were not going well, Stephen Chow yelled and then held the butcher knife in front of his face.
"Thump!"
As his fist slammed into the blade, Zhou Xingxing slid back half a meter with his feet flat on the floor, leaving two black marks on the ground with the soles of his leather shoes.
The first thing he did when he stopped was not to look at his opponent.
He was looking down at the soles of his shoes.
"Damn it!"
"Italian handmade leather shoes!"
Even if it's a high-quality replica from Putian, I still managed to bargain it down to 199 yuan before buying it!
Lorna stood to the side, a vein throbbing on her forehead: "Is this the time to be upset about the shoes?"
Stephen Chow raised his hand and pressed down the brim of his hat.
"You don't understand."
"A man's face is half in his hairstyle and half in his shoes."
"Now the soles of my shoes have been broken by him. This isn't a personal grudge; it's a class conflict."
Lorna ignored Zhou Xingxing's ramblings and cautiously shared the information she knew: "He was Stryker's earliest modified body; his bones, muscles, and nerve reflexes were all enhanced."
"No one who was targeted by him ever escaped alive."
Stephen Chow flexed his wrist; this guy was quite strong.
Number One didn't give him time to think.
With a stomp of his foot, the floor cracked open, and he was already pressed against Stephen Chow.
Fist, elbow strike, knee strike, finger stab.
They're all deadly moves.
Stephen Chow flipped the butcher knife, the back of the blade against his fist and the edge against his elbow, and took three steps back in the living room.
The TV cabinet was smashed by Number One, and the coffee table was kicked away by Stephen Chow.
That tub of ice cream almost flew out of the water.
The soft-serve ice cream screamed, "My dinner!"
Stephen Chow took a moment to hook his foot on the bottom of the bucket and kicked the ice cream back into her arms.
"Hold on tight!"
Number One spread his right hand outstretched, and five short blades sprang from his fingertips.
There was no metal reaction.
Lorna tried to raise her hand, and the TV flew over. Number One turned his head and punched the TV through the air.
"It's no use." Lorna gritted her teeth: "The materials in all his vital parts have been replaced; I can't control him."
Stephen Chow blocked the shots while cursing.
"That Stryker guy is something else."
"You're willing to use anti-magnetic materials, but why aren't you this generous when it comes to paying social security for your employees?"
Number One suddenly lowered his body and swept his right leg horizontally.
Stephen Chow jumped half a foot up, pressed down with the butcher's knife, and slapped the back of the blade against the first calf joint.
"Click!"
The number one leg only twisted slightly before immediately straightening back up.
"Ouch?"
Stephen Chow landed and stepped back.
"Your bones have been reinforced? Are you a person or building material?"
Number One remained silent, charging forward relentlessly, raising his hand to grab Zhou Xingxing's throat.
Stephen Chow didn't back down; he put his left index and middle fingers together on the inside of the wrist of number one.
"Certainly."
Arm One stopped for a fraction of a second.
Stephen Chow's butcher knife has already been pasted on.
This wasn't a test; the blade went straight to the elbow joint, the tip drilling into the joint of the material and twisting it.
"Snap!"
Number One's entire right arm was severed below the elbow.
The cut was clean, and the gray arm fell to the ground with a thud.
Stephen Chow picked up the severed arm and weighed it in his hand.
"Wow."
"It's so heavy. There are complex muscle bundles inside, and... nerve conduction interfaces too. This arm isn't cheap."
Number One looked down at the location of the severed arm.
There was no blood at the cut.
Only black wires and dark red tissue are twitching.
His face remained largely unchanged.
Zhou Xingxing tucked the severed arm under his armpit and looked at Lorna with a grin: "Consider this a trophy. I'll let Da Vinci study it when we get back."
"If we can replicate it, we can install several robotic arms on our construction site."
Despite losing an arm, Number One remained calm and launched another attack.
"Again? Does your company even provide employee training?"
"Your arm's already worn out, and you still have to work overtime?"
Number One didn't reply; he simply carried out orders.
Kill the target and retrieve Polaris.
Stephen Chow stumbled, his white suit jacket slicing open as he passed by, his nails brushing against the fabric.
"You idiot! I need this outfit for a performance review when I get back to China!"
Lorna couldn't help but yell at him from the side.
"He's trying to kill you! And you're still worried about your clothes?"
"What do you know!"
Stephen Chow sidestepped Number One's knee strike and slapped the opponent in the chest with a backhand slash.
"People can bleed, but suits can't rip! Bleeding will dry once it stops, but if your clothes are torn, you have to find a tailor! Do you know how expensive tailors are in America? They'll charge you fifty dollars for a single tear! Fifty!!"
