Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons

Chapter 41: First Victory in the First Battle!

"Roar—"

After responding to Beller, the Glutton immediately accelerated and flew towards the outside of Tidehead Island.

Red Queen Melias, using her speed advantage, kept close behind.

Although Vaghar was highly aggressive, he was slow due to his age and was soon left behind by the two younger dragons.

The sea area outside Chaotou Island.

Upon seeing that Vaghar had disappeared, the Glutton immediately turned around and spewed eerie green flames at Melias.

Melias was caught off guard and was sprayed onto the dragon's head, letting out a painful scream.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the glutton flew above it and used its dragon claws to grab Melias's back tightly.

Melias flapped his wings and struggled incessantly in agony.

But the more it does this, the tighter the dragon's claws grip.

For gluttons who live in the wild year-round, the way to judge the deliciousness of their prey is by how fiercely it struggles.

Melias clearly met the criteria for deliciousness, making gluttons unable to resist getting closer and licking the dragon blood off its body.

"Hiss!!"

Not far away, the massive Vaghar flew angrily forward.

The glutton knew that if he were to drag Melias along, he would be severely injured.

So he decisively abandoned Melias and continued to hide in the clouds, circling around Vaghar.

Melias suffered a severe back injury, but fortunately, thanks to his large size, he did not fall into the sea. However, he lost his ability to fight and had to quickly fly back to Tidehead Island.

……

The roar of the dragon outside Chaotou Island attracted the attention of all the dragon riders at the banquet.

The uncrowned queen Rhaenys was the first to leave the banquet. She had been with Melias for over fifty years and was very familiar with the voice of her dragon.

She looked up at the sky, searching for Melias's figure, while pondering what could have happened to make the lazy Melias choose to participate in the Dragon Battle.

"Mother, I think I hear Vaghar's voice. It's furious!" Lannar walked to her mother's side with concern.

"It's alright, Vaghar is the most powerful dragon in the Tangrian family, no dragon can harm it." Rhaenys crouched down to comfort her daughter.

Then Rhaenyra, Aegon, and Lannino quickly came out, looking anxiously at the sky, fearing that their dragons might also be caught up in the dragonfight.

"Where is Beller? Where did my brother go?" Renilla asked the guards standing beside her with concern, not seeing Beller.

"Please rest assured, Your Highness, His Highness is taking a walk on the beach, and our captain of the guards is personally watching over him. There will be no problems," a guard replied.

Renilla breathed a sigh of relief.

Turning around, I saw the Red Queen Melias stumble and fall onto a hill not far away, her crimson scales covered in blood.

"Merias!"

Rhaenys quickly climbed the hillside, tenderly comforting Melias in Valyrian.

At the same time, observing Melias's wounds, as a dragon knight, she clearly knew that it was an injury that only a dragon could inflict.

Throughout the entire Tidehead Island, Vaghar and Melias never had any conflict; all that remained were Beller's gluttons.

As it turned out, Rhaenys's judgment was absolutely correct.

Shortly after Melias landed, the Glutton swiftly swept across the sky, landing directly opposite Melias with its master, Beller, roaring triumphantly.

"Don't do that, Glutton, we're here as guests, not to fight."

Beller was not there to fight. He sent the Glutton to test Vaghar, but unexpectedly, Melias appeared out of nowhere, so he had to turn to the dragon to vent his anger.

"Roar!!"

Not to be outdone, Melias roared back and immediately assumed a fighting stance.

"Quiet, Melias," Rhaenys quickly embraced Melias's dragon head, gently soothing him in Valyrian.

At the same time, she was surprised to find that none of Baylor's gluttons had any injuries whatsoever.

It should be noted that Vaghar and Melias complement each other, yet the Glutton was able to escape unharmed from their encirclement, and even severely injure Melias.

This is enough to prove that the Glutton is worthy of the title of King of the Wild Dragons.

"Baylor, your dragon is truly amazing," Rhaenys praised sincerely.

She also found out some information and learned that Baylor and Glutton, the riders and dragons, had only spent a short week together, yet they had developed such a tacit understanding. It was truly remarkable!

"I'm sorry, Auntie. The Glutton had no intention of provoking Melias. It was only because Melias was relentlessly pursuing it that the Glutton had no choice but to retaliate."

Beller was telling the truth; he had the gluttons test Vaghar's strength.

Who would have thought that the Red Queen Melias would suddenly appear out of nowhere? Since she brought this upon herself, the Glutton can't be blamed for it.

"It's not your fault, child. Getting injured is inevitable in the Dragon Fighting Tournament." Renis waved her hand with a smile.

While Melias' injury pained Renis, she was even more gratified that her family finally had a true dragon and an excellent dragon rider.

Hopefully, Baelor's arrival will allow the Targaryens, who have always been submissive, to display their true royal demeanor.

"Belherd, I am very sorry. I sensed Vaghar's anger, but I was unable to stop him in time." Lannar stepped forward slowly and apologized to Belherd sincerely.

"It's alright, neither the Glutton nor I were injured, it's just that Vaghar was thrown into the waters off Tidehead Island."

"Later, we'll have to trouble Lord Corliss to send ships to search," Baylor said, deliberately gesturing to Corliss.

This also tells the sea serpent that Melias is no match for the gluttons, and the same will be true for the future Vagarh and Valerian families.

The sea serpent's face darkened noticeably, but seeing the gluttons behind Baylor, he could only swallow his bitterness.

He knew perfectly well that if the Valerian family wanted to maintain its position as the leading family, it had to rely on the Targaryen dragons.

Moreover, as a former minister of the imperial court and an excellent politician, learning to assess the situation and be patient are essential lessons.

"Thank you for your suggestion, Your Highness."

"I will immediately dispatch a fleet to the straits to search for Vaghar's whereabouts. Now, please, Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Aegon, enter the castle."

Collis rarely greeted people with a smile and a respectful attitude.

At this moment, Beller's swirling heart finally settled down.

He also knew that he and the Glutton had won their first victory in the battle.

He also told the sea serpents, and all the members of House Valerian, that the Targaryens now had the power to suppress any nobles who tried to seize the throne!

"Then thank you in advance, Lord Sea Serpent."

"Next time, I believe that the glutton and I will give you even more surprises."
