Chapter 99 The Hunt Begins

Chapter 99 The Hunt Begins (Seeking First Subscription)

Backlund, Joewood District, near the Tasok River.

Inside a restaurant with a southern continental theme, in a spare warehouse, "Wraith" Steve looked at "Werewolf" Tyre with surprise and asked suspiciously, "You said—you discovered Marich's whereabouts?"

Because he was the lowest-ranking member of the pursuit team and always served as the intelligence gatherer, Tyr nodded repeatedly and explained carefully: "It was discovered while attending a gathering of extraordinary individuals. One of the attendees, who had collected the materials on the list, complained that the transaction took place in an abandoned West Bayron shipyard near the dock area. The man who came to make the transaction looked as pale as a corpse, and his tone and eyes made him very uncomfortable."

The abandoned West Bayron shipyard received intelligence precisely when Lord Zartwin was away—Steve frowned slightly, somewhat suspecting that this was a trap set by Sharon and Marich.

However, he did not let his doubts go unchecked. In the Rose School, you can be stupid, you can be evil, you can do all sorts of heinous things, but if you do not act immediately after receiving information from members of the Temperance School, then what awaits you is only the most cruel and terrifying torture.

Rather than suffer a painful death from repeated inhuman torture, Steve would rather die in a potential trap; and with the Crimson Corona in their possession, they would certainly be no match for Sharon and Marich.

So even though "Puppet" Zartwin wasn't at the base, he didn't dare to slack off in the slightest. He immediately got up, took out a black tin box that smelled of blood, and said coldly as he opened the seal, "Go and inform Jason that we'll set off under the cover of night to check out that abandoned West Bayron shipyard. If everything goes well, everyone will receive enough merit to be promoted."

Upon hearing this, a burning glint flashed in Tyr's eyes. Within the Rose School, the hierarchy was now so strict that it was terrifying. Without the permission of certain leaders of the school, even promotion was absolutely forbidden, not even collecting potions!

Ten minutes later, a carriage drove away from the back door of the South Continent-style restaurant and headed straight for the dock area.

Inside the abandoned West Bayron shipyard, Edric's spirit was stirred. He looked up and saw, sure enough, Miss Sharon, with her exquisite features, emerging from the glass.

"The fish has taken the bait?"

"Hmm." Sharon's voice was soft, like an evening breeze gently brushing against her face. "They've located Marich and are in pursuit, but with only Jason and Tyre, we still haven't found any trace of Steve."

Edric immediately began rubbing his hands together, eager to get started. "Should we stick to the original plan? I'll hold off the werewolf, Tyrell, and you and Marich kill Jason."

"Yes." Sharon nodded slightly. "If Steve, who wields the Crimson Crown, doesn't show up until both of them are dead, then we'll retreat and wait for another opportunity."

"No problem." Edric waved his hand, indicating that Sharon didn't need to say anything more.

He knew that there was only one goal in this operation: the Crimson Moon Crown in the hands of "Wraith" Steve. As long as he could get his hands on it, he wouldn't care even if he let all three members of the Hedonistic Faction go.

Watching Sharon disappear into the glass once again, Edric got up and left the warehouse. He glanced around and quickly noticed that the moonlight was only faint tonight.

What's even better is that there are patches of tall weeds near the warehouses, providing him with plenty of places to ambush them.

About ten minutes later, Edric, who was hiding in the grass, raised his eyelids and saw three figures approaching at an extremely fast speed.

Running at the front was Maric, his slightly messy hair blown completely backward by the wind, his always malicious face twisted into a ferocious grimace, looking strangely comical.

He was very fast, even faster than the steam trains Edric had ridden, and in a flash, he arrived near the bushes where Edric was hiding.

Edric perfectly utilized the traits he gained from the potion, and he was now like a real living corpse. Even if the members of the Hedonistic Faction were lucky enough to see him, they would only think that he was a corpse that Marich had placed there in advance.

Just two or three breaths after Maric appeared, another figure rushed out of the darkness. His face was just as pale as Maric's, but he had several inconspicuous black spots on his face, like marks left after a festering wound had healed.

Edric recognized him as Jason, a "living corpse" belonging to the Rose School's hedonistic faction.

Further behind Jason, another figure appeared. It was a man with very short hair, each strand standing up like a sharp thorn.

The three were engaged in a fierce tug-of-war, completely unaware of Edric lying in the grass like a corpse.

Just as Marich was about to be caught by Jason due to a sudden mistake, a pale hand suddenly emerged from the mud and accurately grabbed Jason's ankle.

"Hehe~"

Jason sneered and kicked the wrist of the hand so hard that it broke off, sending the severed hand flying straight toward Marich.

Maric stopped, pinched his lips with his right hand, and let out a shrill whistle.

boom! boom! boom!

The soil in different parts of the open space was turned up, and one by one, expressionless corpses sat up. Edric also took the opportunity to emerge from the bushes and quietly approach the "werewolf" Tyr, pretending to be an ordinary living corpse.

—Before "Wraith" Steve appears with the "Crimson Crown," he does not intend to use any abilities beyond the scope of a "psychic," lest he alert the enemy.

However, the "Spirit Sorcerer," whose overall role is more supportive, is really hard to compete with the combat-specialized "Werewolf" without the help of magical items or other people. Therefore, a little sneak attack is necessary to give Edric the upper hand.

As Edric predicted, "Werewolf" Tyree completely ignored his approach and even tried to use his speed to shake him off and support Jason, who was fighting Marich.

Just as the werewolf was about to charge, a glint suddenly appeared in Edric's dark eyes, and a crystal-clear frost greatsword materialized in his hand.

"An ambush?!" Startled by the spiritual warning, Tyre was about to dodge when he felt a cold, sharp pain in his right leg, and blood immediately gushed out!

But the "Werewolf" is indeed a combat-specialized class. With a nimble turn, Tyr successfully adjusted his posture, avoiding being hacked to death by Edric's swords because he didn't have time to adjust.
