Mystery: Death Singer
Chapter 6 Fortune and Misfortune are Intertwined
While Edric waited for the dead raven to extract the extraordinary material, he also moved the completely retired tombstone, revealing a pit below and a pitch-black coffin inside.
Knowing that the remaining main material was likely in the coffin, Edric didn't rush and chose to rest on the spot immediately.
As everyone knows, the path of "corpse collector" is destined to be accompanied by death. Edric had just dealt with a death raven, and he was worried that the main ingredient in the coffin was also "alive," so he chose to play it safe for now, take a break, and at least collect the death raven's gift before making any further moves.
As time passed, the scattered raven finally stopped changing, and all its spirituality was concentrated in one of its eyes and three feathers.
Edric used his spiritual intuition to determine that the eyeball was one of the main materials for the "gravedigger," while the three feathers were likely one of the auxiliary materials.
After putting away the two hard-won potion ingredients, Edric got up, cleaned up the surrounding dirt, and dragged the coffin out of the grave.
Unlike the still-solid stone tombstone, the wood used for this coffin was quite ordinary and was already on the verge of collapse due to the erosion of time. Edric simply pulled the lid off with a gentle tug, revealing a body inside that resembled a mummy.
But within the eye sockets of this mummified corpse was a bloodstained eye, and the moment Edric saw it, he was certain that this was the extraordinary characteristic of the "gravedigger"!
But that wasn't all. On the chest of the mummified corpse, he discovered a vibrant red rose, exuding an irresistible allure and a faint scent of blood.
Among the mummified corpse's tattered clothing, Edric found a piece of parchment that was the icing on the cake, clearly recording the potion recipes for Sequence Nine to Sequence Seven of the "Corpse Collector" pathway—
Sequence Eight: The Gravedigger
[Gravedigger Main Materials: Eye of the Dead Raven, One Blood Rose from the Cemetery]
[Additional materials: 100 ml pure alcohol, 3 feathers from a dead raven, 5 leaves from a blood rose in the cemetery, 9 drops of corpse perfume essential oil]
Sequence Seven: The Psychic
[Main materials for the psychic: the forepaw of a ghostly cat, a piece of spirit crystal]
[Supporting Materials: 80 ml of ghost cat's blood, 10 g of soil contaminated by spirit crystals, 5 ml of brain matter from a person possessed by an evil spirit, and one leaf blessed by a nature spirit]
Looking at the "brain matter" needed for the "Spirit Seeker" potion, Edric's lips twitched slightly, and he subconsciously felt a little nauseous. He simply put away the precious parchment that recorded three potion recipes to avoid further ado.
Although the name "Corpse Scent Oil" sounds like a rather unusual ingredient, in the knowledge passed down in the "Corpse Collector" potion tradition, it is actually just a very ordinary essential oil, and the production process and materials used are all within the normal range.
Looking at his "predecessor," who was now just a dried-up corpse, Edric gave an awkward smile and then pulled a small bottle about the length of a thumb from his pocket.
This bottle contains a full bottle of herbal essential oils, which he specially formulated to remove the stench of his corpse. Now it's perfect for blending an even more premium corpse-scented essential oil.
Five minutes later, Edric put away the remaining half-bottle of Corpse Fragrance Oil. He only needed the last 100 milliliters of pure alcohol to concoct a potion and advance to the Sequence 8 "Gravedigger"!
Just then, a chilling cold suddenly rose from the bottom of Edric's heart, causing him to shiver involuntarily.
The familiar pale light had somehow obscured a section of the desolate sky and was visibly devouring everything around it, rushing straight toward Edric's location.
Edric's heart sank. The worst thing he could have imagined had happened. Although he didn't know where these pale lights came from, there's no such thing as love without a reason. This "pick-up and drop-off" treatment, along with the many spoils of war he received, clearly meant that there must be an enormous pitfall hidden behind it all.
No matter how wary and unwilling he was, he couldn't stop the pale light even for a moment. As his consciousness plunged into darkness, Edric, just as he had arrived, sank into the boundless pale light.
When Edric regained consciousness, he found himself back in the public restroom. The corridor outside was silent, clearly indicating that the three night watchmen had already left.
He didn't rush out. Instead, he turned on the tap, washed his face, checked his pockets, and after confirming that what had just happened wasn't a dream, he sighed bitterly.
Finding money is certainly a good thing, but if it's done under someone else's arrangement, then it's definitely not a good thing.
On the bright side, at least until I advance to Sequence Seven and become a true "psychic," that "angel investor" should continue to support me... Edric found a bittersweet smile, a helpless and comical grin spreading across his face.
Since there's no way to resist, why not enjoy it to the fullest first?
Edric pushed open the bathroom door and strode towards his rented room. He didn't drink alcohol, so he naturally didn't keep any at home, let alone pure alcohol, which was practically poison. He could only wait until tomorrow to figure out how to buy the last batch of auxiliary materials.
The most urgent task is to find some better containers to properly preserve these valuable and extraordinary materials on my person.
…………
Silent all night.
Edric got up early, quickly made himself a quick breakfast, and then met up with Alvin downstairs at the apartment building on time. They had agreed yesterday to commute to and from get off work together from now on.
Perhaps because he had too many family members to support, Alvin did not choose to take the public carriage that would only cost sixpence to reach the outskirts, but instead walked with Edric.
On the way to Raphael's Cemetery, Edric mentioned that his rented house had a lot of bugs and rats, and even large patches of grease, so he planned to get some pure alcohol to clean it, but he didn't know where to buy it.
For his future safety while commuting to and from get off work, Alvin racked his brains over this problem, and finally, just as he was about to leave the city, he clapped his hands and said:
"I remember now! Kalis mentioned before that there's a lab at Hoy University that seems to sell this stuff. A pastor from the Church of Storms lives near his house and often goes there to buy it. Every time, you can smell the extremely pungent smell of alcohol on him."
Edric's lips twitched as he listened, secretly admiring that he truly deserved to be called Storm Pigeon, fiercely criticizing even such a potent drink that would kill an ordinary person on the spot.
