Mystery: Death Singer
Chapter 44 The Bone Pendant
More than half an hour later, Edric appeared near the headquarters of the Black Skull Party again, but this time he was not there to monitor them.
Now that he had learned the details of the East Byron Restoration Society from Godopus and knew that it would be difficult for them to send an extraordinary person to deal with him immediately, Edric certainly wouldn't waste that bone pendant that was supposedly related to the Grim Reaper.
This kind of thing sounds incredibly high-class; even if it's not a magical item, it must at least have some magical aspects, just like the Solomon Coin he currently possesses.
After observing for a while and confirming that the news of Godopus and the secret base's destruction had not yet reached them, Edric and the Stone Spirit merged into one and slowly sank into the ground, preparing to use the soil as cover to launch a surprise attack.
Inside the wooden house, several members of the East Bailang Restoration Society were gathered together, playing cards and discussing their gains and troubles over the past period, with occasional shouts of curses full of southern continent flavor ringing out.
In places unnoticed by the Black Skull Gang leaders, the guards deployed around the cabin fell one after another. In just two or three minutes, the cabin's security system was completely paralyzed, failing to provide any effective protection.
creak~
A sickeningly loud slamming door suddenly rang out, and a gust of cold wind rushed into the room through the open door, causing several high-ranking members of the Black Skull Gang to shiver in unison.
The next second, the group of people who were gathered together scattered and fell behind suitable cover, each holding a gleaming revolver.
As gang leaders, they don't believe any nonsense about "the door not being closed properly"!
"Slap slap~"
Just then, a crisp clapping sound suddenly rang out from the shadows behind them. Before they could turn around, a bone-chilling cold burst forth, enveloping everyone in it.
Under the influence of the low-temperature fog, several ordinary Black Skull Party leaders were pinned to the ground by an invisible force. Grayish-white fog seeped into their bodies through every opening, and soon everything became deathly silent.
After a brief moment of astonishment, the two corpse collectors each took out a dark green talisman from their pockets, intending to try to counterattack the revealed Frost Spirit.
"Click~"
The crisp snapping sound was fleeting, and one of the body collectors' eyes immediately lost all light, his body collapsing limply to the ground.
"No! No! You devil!"
As Edric slowly emerged from the mist, the last corpse collector's pupils constricted sharply, and he roared madly, as if unable to accept what had just happened.
Edric searched the body of the corpse collector he had just ambushed and killed, and sure enough, he found a small, dark iron box.
He paid no attention to the unfortunate fellow who had been firmly gripped by Shi Ling and was being slammed back and forth on the floor with a "bang bang" sound, and whose life was already nearing its end.
After finding a clean spot to sit down, Edric, following Godopus's instructions, removed the necromancy spells from the box and finally saw the bone pendant that had kept him busy all night.
This pendant is pure white like jade, about the size of a thumb, and looks like it was made from the bones of some unknown creature. Although the overall details are rather rough, it can still be roughly seen that it is like a super miniature tombstone, with more than a dozen ancient Southern Continent characters engraved on both sides.
Edric is not illiterate; he is fluent in ancient Hermes and is currently studying ancient Fusak in depth. However, he has never studied the script of the Southern Continent, so he can only leave the arduous task of "determining what is written on it" for the time being and hand it over to Mr. Azik later.
After a brief verification, Edric discovered that the bone pendant did indeed possess magical properties; given the raw materials, infusing it with spiritual energy would yield a living corpse.
After further experiments, Edric discovered that the pendant's power was not very strong; the number of undead it could create could only be two at a time, and each could only last for about five minutes.
Although these zombies also possess characteristics such as tough skin and resistance to cold, their movements are too slow and stiff, even less than those of a normal adult who has not been terrified.
Of all the undead creatures Edric can currently command, this undead ranks second to last due to its thick skin (relatively speaking), only surpassing the Shadow, which crumbles at the slightest touch when faced with extraordinary abilities.
It's truly tasteless yet a pity to throw away... Edric shook his head slightly; he hadn't expected this pendant to be so useless.
The ability to create zombies is certainly useful. Whether it's for siege, decoys, or even just to buy time, zombies can accomplish tasks very well.
However, the fact that the pendant only lasts for five minutes is too fatal. Edric can't carry two corpses around all the time, which greatly reduces the pendant's practicality.
Of course, something is better than nothing. Before Edric himself gains the extraordinary ability to create undead, this pendant can enrich the extraordinary abilities he can choose from.
After putting the jade-like pendant back into the iron box, Edric took two pieces of pale leather covered with rotten black spots from the Stone Spirit. These were the extraordinary characteristics extracted from the two "corpse collectors" after their deaths.
Considering the "corpse collector" attribute provided by Godopus, Edric couldn't help but smile with satisfaction.
It's worth noting that in a metropolis like Backlund, where supernatural abilities are abundant, a regular Sequence 9 Extraordinary ability can sell for four hundred pounds. The "Corpse Collector" path, with the presence of the Church of the Night Goddess, is considered quite popular, and each one can sell for at least fifty pounds more.
In other words, even without counting the revolvers, bullets, and high explosives that Edric had just acquired, he would still earn at least £1,350 tonight.
"A big city is indeed a big city. It's a pity that I can't do this kind of thing too often, otherwise it will definitely attract the attention of the official extraordinary people. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the East Byron Restoration Association is too far away to reach, I would have chosen to stop after dealing with Godopus..."
After maneuvering two undead to carry the high explosives to the center of the room and dragging the other corpses together, Edric sank back into the ground and quietly moved away from the Black Skull Party headquarters amidst towering flames and sudden explosions.
It is worth mentioning that after "burying" three corpse collectors by cremation, Edric's "Gravedigger" potion was immediately declared critically ill and could pass away at any time.
