I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 476 The Happy Time Begins!

Charlotte nodded: "Yes, it was sent back to the Los Empire last night in exchange for an old friend."

"They put them back alive?" Constantine frowned.

"Once you're dead, you can't change it," Charlotte said with a smile.

Constantine said in a deep voice, "Given the character of Constantine and his son, they will never let you go. Should I put pressure on them?"

Charlotte shook her head: "I had Evelyn erase part of his memory, so Capas shouldn't remember that I was the one who captured him."

"She has this ability?" Constantine asked, somewhat surprised. "In that case, I won't do anything unnecessary and only make you the suspect."

"Thank you for your concern." Charlotte nodded.

"When Grover came to Benjamin in the Elf City last time, there was actually another matter," Constantine added.

Charlotte immediately became interested upon hearing this. Grover held a high position in the Los Empire, so anything that Constantine would care about must be no small matter.

Constantine didn't keep them in suspense and said directly, "Avid asked Benjamin and me to help him once, on the condition that we fully cooperate with us in promoting the full-scale demonization and nettle defense system."

"Make a move once?" Charlotte pondered. Avid was the King of the Los Empire, and the only opponent who could make him ask Constantine and Benjamin to make a move was probably Cromwell.

"When is he planning to get Cromwell?" Charlotte asked curiously, genuinely concerned about the matter.

Cromwell would not be at peace as long as he lived.

Once Cromwell falls, Vivian can regain her name, end her current life of anonymity, and live openly with her mother.

Furthermore, Charlotte no longer needs to worry about being retaliated against by Cromwell and Capas.

This problem still troubles him quite a bit, spurring him to keep striving to become stronger, all for the sake of when he can kill Cromwell.

That would be wonderful if the King of the Los Empire could do it himself.

After all, he was far away in the abyss and had never even met Cromwell. There was no deep-seated hatred between them that compelled him to kill Cromwell with his own hands.

If he were to suddenly die, Charlotte would definitely have to buy two strings of firecrackers to set off.

"He hasn't informed us about this yet. If needed, he can notify us through the Light Chaser. It won't cause any major delays," Constantine said.

"Okay, if conditions permit, please let me know. It would be very interesting to witness such a commotion in person," Charlotte said with a smile.

"Okay, I'll let you know when the time comes, and I'll take you to join the fun." Constantine nodded.

"Thank you, senior." Charlotte quickly said with a smile. As expected of Red Moon's good older brother, he agreed so readily.

If Arvid makes a move against Cromwell, it must mean that Cromwell has already rebelled. It would be a shame not to join in the excitement of a coup.

The demonization ritual ended during their conversation. Forty-two orc mages died during the ritual, which is considered a normal mortality rate.

"Now that the ceremony is over, I'll lead them back," Constantine said, and without further ado, he led the orc mages straight away.

Charlotte was in a good mood upon hearing that Cromwell was in dire straits. She hummed a little tune and rode Anna back to the Abyss.

Halfway there, Charlotte received a message from the Light Chaser:

[The Chaser of Light: The deal is successful. Capas has returned to the capital, and the families of those disgraced officials have been properly settled in Calva. With your current status, finding Vivian's mother, Jacqueline, shouldn't be difficult, right?]

[Miracle: Now that the person is already in Kalva, and it was the city lord's mansion that made the arrangements, finding someone shouldn't be difficult. Thanks, I'll treat you to dinner next time we meet.]

[Chasing the Light: I heard you're a good cook. Next time we meet, I'll only eat what you cook yourself.]

[Miracle: Okay, I'll cook for you.]

After putting away the black stone, the griffin had already arrived above the abyss. Charlotte glanced in the direction of Calva City. Vivian's mother was already in the city. He would go to Calva City tomorrow to ask Jenny for some information.

Why not Elizabeth?

Because this straightforward girl isn't good at hiding her emotions and intentions, it's easy for people to notice her interest in Jacqueline.

Given her current level of attention in Kalva, anything she does could be magnified infinitely, so it's impossible to ask her to handle this matter, even though she is the city lord's daughter.

As for Vivian, he doesn't plan to tell her the news yet.

Once he has made proper arrangements for her mother, he will be able to meet her and her daughter in a more dignified manner.

……

The city lord's mansion was still brightly lit.

A staff member strode into Anderson's study and reported, "Lord, all 232 exiled personnel from the Los Empire have been settled. 120 of them have gone to stay with their relatives and friends, and the remaining 112 are currently staying at an inn in the north of the city. They need to stay in Kalva temporarily, contact their relatives and friends, and make further arrangements."

Anderson nodded: "Okay, not only should we arrange their food and lodging, but we should also send more people to protect their safety."

"Okay." The staff member nodded, then asked with some confusion, "Lord, most of these people are relatives of disgraced officials. Why were they specially sent to our Kalva?"

"You don't need to ask too many questions about this matter. Ensure their safety, and if any of them have nowhere to go, help them find work so they can settle down in Kalva," Anderson continued. "Although they are the families of convicts, their character is not problematic, and they can become residents of Kalva."

"Okay." The staff member nodded and turned to leave.

"The man has arrived in Kalva, so Capas should be home by now. So, who kidnapped him? That's quite intriguing." Anderson's face showed a hint of curiosity. This group was the bargaining chip for Capas. Was there any important person among them?

Anderson deduced that Charlotte wasn't behind Capas's survival.

With his abilities, he was not capable of negotiating with Cromwell, nor was there any need for him to expose himself in exchange for a group of disgraced officials' families.

Charlotte is a native of Calva, someone he watched grow up, and has absolutely no connection to the Los Empire.

If Capas had truly fallen into Charlotte's hands, he would have been buried somewhere long ago. How could he have returned to the capital safely?

It had nothing to do with Charlotte, which relieved him.

Otherwise, if Cromwell were to investigate, he might consider how to intervene for the greater good.

But Elizabeth would never hesitate and would stand by Charlotte's side to kill all the invading enemies, and might even march all the way to the capital.

Knowing his daughter as he did, he knew such an outcome was not impossible.

Now that she has become a paladin and her daughter is grown up, he can't stop her anymore.

"Never mind, time to go home." Anderson got up and walked towards the door. Elizabeth had broken through to Paladin level today, and he, as her father, hadn't even seen her yet.

……

The capital city, the Duke's mansion.

"How is Capas? Is he injured?" A luxurious carriage drove into the Duke's mansion, and Cromwell stepped out of the carriage and eagerly asked the butler.

"Duke, the young master is eating right now. He seems to have suffered quite a bit lately. The physician has already treated him, and there's nothing seriously wrong with his health; he just needs to rest for a while." The butler hesitated, "But..."

"Just what?" Cromwell's face darkened.

The butler quickly said, "Young Master seems to have some amnesia. He only remembers what happened a month ago, and he has forgotten everything that happened in the last month, so he doesn't know who kidnapped him."

"It seems someone powerful erased his memories, which is why they dared to let him come back." Cromwell wasn't surprised. He said with a stern face, "Go find someone to restore his memories. I want to see who dares to kidnap my son and threaten me."

"Dr. Carlos has already tried, but the young master's condition seems to be somewhat complicated. His memories cannot be recovered, and stimulating his brain would cause him great pain, so the doctor dares not act rashly."

"They do have some tricks up their sleeves." Cromwell's brows furrowed even deeper. He had originally planned to wait for Capas to return so that he would find out who was behind it all. Anyone who dared to touch his son would surely face his wrath, which would also serve as a deterrent to those with ill intentions.

Now that Capas has been suffering from amnesia for a month and the investigation has not found any useful clues, he feels like he has a lot of energy but nowhere to vent it.

Cromwell walked into the restaurant and found Capas still eating, clutching a chicken leg in one hand and a steak in the other, gobbling it down as if he hadn't eaten in months.

His cheeks were sunken, and he was sallow and emaciated. He looked more like a vagrant than a duke's son.

"Father, you're back." Upon seeing Cromwell enter the dining room, Capas quickly put down the food he was holding, took the damp towel handed to him by the maid to wipe his hands, and stood up respectfully.

"Sit down, please continue eating," Cromwell said with some concern, gesturing for everyone to step back and sit down opposite him.

The housekeeper was the last to leave, closing the restaurant door behind him.

Capas sat down, not continuing to eat, but looked at Cromwell and said, "Father, I heard they say I was kidnapped in Calva. Is that true? Why don't I remember it at all? I don't even remember ever being in Calva."

"You really don't remember anything at all?" Cromwell stared into his eyes.

Capas was deep in thought when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his head. He clutched his head and collapsed to the ground, groaning, "It hurts! My head hurts so much!"

Cromwell's expression changed slightly, and he shouted in a deep voice, "Guards!"

The restaurant door was pushed open, and the butler and doctor rushed in, quickly helping Capas up.

The doctor performed a treatment on him, which relieved his headache symptoms to some extent.

"Dr. Carlos, what's wrong with Capas? Why is this happening?" Cromwell asked.

The doctor explained, "Baron Capas may have experienced some kind of trauma, which is why he is showing symptoms of amnesia. He needs to rest well now and cannot be subjected to any more stimulation, otherwise he may suffer some irreversible brain damage."

Cromwell nodded slightly upon hearing this, and looked at Capas, saying, "Then you don't need to think about it anymore. Just eat well, and then go to sleep. We can deal with those guys whenever you remember."

"Yes, Father." Capas nodded and picked up the chicken leg from his plate again. This was his third dinner, but for some reason, he still felt very hungry, extremely hungry.

Cromwell sat for a while, then got up and left.

"Continue to investigate. Who made Cromwell like this? I'll make them wish they were dead!" Cromwell said in a deep voice to the guards following behind him as he left the room.

"Yes!" The guard accepted the order and left.

"Suppress this matter and don't make a big fuss. The important thing is to get down to business," Cromwell said to the butler.

"Duke, what should we do about the engagement between the young master and Elizabeth? The latest news is that she has broken through to become a paladin," the butler inquired.

Cromwell smiled coldly: "There's no rush. Anderson will come to me personally next month."

……

When Charlotte returned home, Hattie and the others had just finished cooking and weren't in a hurry to eat; instead, they were all waiting for him.

Ruth had returned, and Diana was sitting beside her. When he entered, her gaze fixed on him.

Charlotte helped the somewhat weak Evelyn into a chair, placed a stewed chicken leg in her bowl, and then sat down with a slightly guilty smile, saying, "Let's eat."

Only then did everyone pick up their chopsticks, but their glances at Charlotte and Diana were all somewhat subtle.

Yesterday, Charlotte officially announced Elizabeth's breakthrough to become a Holy Knight.

Did Diana know about this?

"Come, try the dishes my apprentice made. They're already six or seven tenths as good as mine." Charlotte served Diana a bowl of chicken soup, looking completely at ease, as if nothing had happened.

Diana took a sip of the soup and smiled, "Hmm, this chicken soup is indeed very delicious."

"Then please drink more, there's still soup in the pot," Hattie said happily. She had made the chicken soup herself.

Charlotte served Ruth a bowl of chicken soup as well, and then they began to eat.

The clinic was very busy today, and he was quite exhausted. Seeing this table full of food made him even hungrier.

After dinner, Charlotte was taken out for a walk by Diana, while Ruth, who had recently become quite interested in poker, stayed behind to play cards with Vivian and the others.

"I heard from Ruth that you're marrying Elizabeth next month," Diana said.

"Yes, I plan to go to the city lord's mansion to propose marriage in the middle of next month, and then marry her." Charlotte nodded, very frankly.

Diana stopped and looked at him. "So when do you plan to marry me and Ruth? Last time I asked you, you said when you had free time. When will you actually have free time?"

Charlotte looked at her and said sincerely, "If I marry Elizabeth, I will marry you and Ruth. The weddings will be separate, and I hope that each of you will be unique on your wedding day."

Diana continued to look at him.

"They're all going to be in the latter half of next month."

Diana finally smiled, took his arm, and continued walking forward: "Alright, then I'll wait for you to come to Harriman Estate to propose."

"Ruth told you about the marriage, but did she talk to you about your position in the family?" Charlotte asked tentatively.

"What, are you worried that I'll compete with Elizabeth for the position of first wife?" Diana said with a hint of teasing.

"That's not the case."

"I'm not stupid. With Elizabeth's status and strength, she should be the First Lady. I have no objection to that, and I won't be unhappy or argue with you about it." Diana smiled. "With an older sister like this, everyone will have to give you some respect when you go out."

"Your husband is amazing too," Charlotte emphasized.

"Can you beat her?" Diana retorted.

"That's definitely not something I can beat," Charlotte said honestly. The gap between her and Elizabeth had widened infinitely after she broke through to the Paladin level.

Charlotte even doubted whether Elizabeth was now capable of fighting against some ordinary god-level powerhouses.

"Have you told her you're going to marry me?" Diana asked again. "I don't want her chasing me with a sword afterward."

Charlotte reassured her, "Don't worry, I already told her about this beforehand. I proposed to her after I told her I wanted to marry you and Ruth."

Diana seemed thoughtful upon hearing this: "It seems she truly loves you."

Charlotte remained silent; he was well aware of this as well.

"That's good. I knew from the beginning that you two couldn't break up, so I expected this day to come." Diana intertwined her fingers with his and looked at him, saying, "So, from the moment I agreed to marry you, I accepted this."

Charlotte looked at her, her heart softening, and pulled her into her arms, saying earnestly, "I will love you all with all my heart, and I will not let you regret your decision."

Diana gently hugged him tighter and whispered, "I believe you."

There wasn't much to see on the streets of the Abyss. After walking around Baka Street, Charlotte dragged Ruth, who was still playing cards, away and took them home.

Once the blanket is pulled over me, the fun begins!

The next morning, Charlotte got out of bed, pulled the blanket over Diana's long legs, looked at the two beauties who were fast asleep and looked satisfied, and then went into the bathroom.

After taking 500 bottles of the Power Potion, the energy depleted from a night of hard work was immediately replenished, leaving him with abundant energy and inexhaustible drive.

His strength growth is progressing steadily. At this rate, in another eight days, his strength will reach the limit of Sky Knight, and he can begin to try to break through to Star Knight.

During her lunch break, Charlotte went to Calva and went directly to the potion trading center to find Jenny.

"What brings you here?" Jenny asked, putting down the ledger in her hand as Charlotte walked into the office.

"I need your help with something," Charlotte said with a smile.

"Have you had lunch?" Jenny asked, getting up.

"I came right after work, and haven't had a chance to eat yet."

"Okay, let's talk while we eat." Jenny walked towards the door.

"Let's just find a nearby restaurant and grab a quick bite. I have to go back to work soon," Charlotte said, walking beside her.

"Work lunch? You don't expect me to treat you to some fancy meal, do you?" Jenny pouted.

"Miss Jenny's palate is probably not up to the task of finding an ordinary small restaurant," Charlotte said.

Jenny didn't respond. She left the potion trading center, boarded the carriage waiting at the entrance, and after a moment of silence, couldn't help but look at Charlotte and ask, "How exactly did you convince Elizabeth to marry you?"
