I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 467 Shopkeeper Ruth!

Charlotte was somewhat surprised, not expecting the hermit to be so perceptive, assuming that Capas had been captured the moment he revealed his strength.

[Miracle: Yes, he ambushed me a few days ago, trying to kill me, but I killed him instead. Now Kapas is imprisoned in my hands.]

[The Hermit: Now that you've revealed your strength, Cromwell will likely begin to suspect you very soon.]

[Miracle: I found a register on Capas, evidence of Cromwell's collusion with nobles throughout the Los Empire. I gave the register to the Light Chaser, asking her to pass it on to the King of Los. Furthermore, I plan to use Capas to exchange for the families of loyal subjects framed by Cromwell, thereby rescuing the mother of one of my friends.]

[Hermit: If you encounter any danger, please ask for help in the Red Moon group immediately. We will assist you as soon as possible. You are crucial to the entire demonization plan; you must not be lost.]

[Miracle: I understand.]

After ending her conversation with the hermit, Charlotte felt a little more at ease.

The hermit's words were very clear: he was now the apple of Red Moon's eye, and also the apple of Aesop's eye. If anything happened to him, then something happened to Red Moon.

As Charlotte came downstairs, she saw Ruth chatting and laughing happily with the others.

This put his mind at ease. It seemed that Ruth would soon be able to adapt to life back in the Abyss and make friends, which was the first step in integrating into the group.

Everyone looked at Charlotte as she came downstairs with admiration in their eyes.

Charlotte could probably guess that they had gained a different understanding of him after hearing Ruth's story.

"Boss, you're amazing!" Vivian said sincerely as she looked at him.

Everyone nodded in agreement, acknowledging Vivian's straightforward praise.

"Alright, that's the end of the story. Go to work now." Charlotte waved her hand, shooing everyone out.

Ruth walked beside Charlotte and whispered, "Doctor, could you give me something to do?"

"You want a job?" Charlotte looked at her, somewhat surprised.

"Yeah, it's really boring staying at home every day," Ruth nodded.

"So what do you want to do?"

"For example, selling medicine or receiving patients—do you think I can handle that?"

Charlotte looked at Ruth, who had a hopeful expression on her face, but shook her head.

"I didn't do it..." Ruth lowered her head in slight disappointment.

"How can you let the boss's wife do such a thing?" Charlotte laughed and took her hand. "Working at the clinic is too busy, and you can't avoid seeing bloody scenes all day long. I do know a job that would be quite suitable for you. I'll take you to see it when it's less busy this afternoon."

Ruth's eyes lit up: "Really? What kind of job?"

"You'll find out when you see it," Charlotte said, keeping everyone in suspense.

Charlotte and the others were busy in the afternoon, so Ruth rested and read in Charlotte's office.

Around three o'clock, there were no more critically ill patients that Charlotte needed to take care of, so Charlotte left work early and went out with Ruth.

"Where are we going now?" Ruth asked curiously, being led by Charlotte.

"It's just ahead," Charlotte said, pointing ahead.

About 300 meters across from the clinic, there is a newly renovated clothing store. The signboard has not yet been taken down, and the door is ajar. Through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, you can see that employees are already displaying the new winter clothes.

"Wow, so many clothes! Is this a shop that sells ready-made clothes?" Ruth asked curiously, thinking that Charlotte had brought her to buy clothes. She quickly replied, "Sister Diana has already taken me to have several outfits custom-made. They'll be ready in a few days, so I won't have to spend money on new clothes."

"This shop is unlike any other tailor shop you've ever seen. Let me take you inside." Charlotte smiled, took her hand, and pushed the door open.

"But they don't look like they've opened for business yet..." Ruth whispered.

Charlotte pushed open the door and went in. The staff who were arranging clothes all stopped what they were doing and looked at the two of them with some surprise.

"Excuse me, sir, we... Dr. Charlotte?" Daphne, who had come out of the warehouse, stopped speaking abruptly upon seeing Charlotte, and instead smiled, saying, "What brings you here?"

She glanced at Ruth beside Charlotte, her eyes lighting up slightly. What a beauty! She looked somewhat familiar, but she wasn't quite sure if it was the one she remembered.

"I got off work early today, so I came to check it out. It seems this shop is about to open," Charlotte said with a smile.

Daphne is now the sales director of the clothing factory, in charge of clothing sales. She is responsible for managing the shops in Abyss and Kalva, and is Ivan's most trusted right-hand woman.

Although this woman has an ordinary appearance, she is exceptionally capable and has a strong sense of affability. Entrusting sales to her is quite reassuring.

"Yes, the first batch of goods has been made. I picked them up today and had the store staff hang them up in preparation for officially opening in three days." Evelyn nodded with a smile, then sighed, "It's still a bit rushed. We haven't recruited a suitable store manager yet."

"I see. Do you think Ruth is suitable to be the store manager?" Charlotte said.

Ruth, who was looking at clothes nearby, paused, then turned to Charlotte with some surprise: "Me?"

Daphne's eyes lit up, and she immediately said, "If Miss Ruth is willing, then she would be the most suitable candidate."

It was indeed Ruth, the famous street dancer from Amman who once made a name for herself in the Abyss. She had also gone to see her performance, but because she was standing too far away, she couldn't see her face very clearly, but she was still captivated by her graceful dance.

I heard that she later left the abyss, but for some reason suddenly reappeared by Charlotte's side, and even agreed to become the manager of this clothing store.

Daphne actually has quite high requirements for store managers. They need to be approachable, preferably have rich sales experience, and be able to manage others.

But if the other party is Ruth, then there are no conditions.

Ruth is the best advertisement simply by sitting in the shop.

Two women in the Abyss are famous for their beauty. One is Diana, and their brand is named after her, which is a testament to their fame.

Another one is Ruth, whose dance moves not only captivate men but also women.

If the store were named after Diana and Ruth were the manager, that would be the perfect setup!

So Daphne agreed without hesitation.

"Ruth, do you think this job is suitable?" Charlotte asked with a smile, looking at Ruth who was still a little confused.

Ruth said somewhat insecurely, "I've never sold clothes before, nor have I ever been a store manager. Would it be inappropriate for me to be the store manager, managing such a large store and so many employees?"

Daphne immediately replied, "How could it not be suitable? You just need to sit in the store and arrange for the staff to handle sales. Our staff are all professionally trained. The store manager is indeed very important, but the job is not actually very demanding. You just need to sit in the store looking beautiful every day, and you will attract many customers. There is no store manager who can bring more sales to the store than you."

Charlotte looked at Daphne with great admiration. No wonder she was the woman who could win Ivan's heart; her way of speaking was far superior to his.

Sure enough, after listening to Daphne's words, Ruth became much more confident. After a slight hesitation, she nodded and said, "Okay, then I'll start doing it. But you'll have to teach me more, sister."

"No problem. I'll teach you step by step how to manage the store and what a store manager does." Daphne smiled broadly. "There are still three days left, so we can learn slowly and there's plenty of time. This afternoon, I can introduce you to the clothes in our store, their features, prices, and advantages compared to custom-made clothes."

"Okay." Ruth's face showed interest, then she turned to Charlotte and said, "Doctor, you can go back to work now. You don't need to stay here with me. I'll learn from Sister Daphne."

"Okay, then you guys go ahead with your work." Charlotte tactfully turned and left. He didn't plan to interfere too much with Ruth's work. He had arranged a job for her that she was interested in, so she wouldn't be so bored.

Ruth wasn't the type to sit back and relax, so on her second day back, she started asking him to arrange work for her.

Going back to Amman to dance is absolutely out of the question; Charlotte isn't that generous.

Working at a clinic feels a bit awkward.

The pace of work at the clinic is too fast, and there is no room for the slightest mistake. Every day, we have to deal with so many injured and sick patients, so the work atmosphere is actually quite oppressive.

Moreover, if Ruth were to work at the clinic, others would definitely treat her differently because of her special status, which would affect the overall atmosphere, and she probably wouldn't be happy doing it.

So Charlotte simply didn't let her go to the clinic, but instead arranged for her to be the manager of Ivan's clothing store.

There are two types of suitable candidates for a clothing store manager: one is a highly approachable sales elite like Daphne, and the other is a beautiful store manager with her own fan base. Ruth is the ultimate representative of the second type.

Many people can do sales work. The store's employees were all selected from the female workers who applied for the job. They all have good interpersonal skills and sales ability, so Ruth doesn't need to have strong sales skills.

As long as Ruth sits in the store, the news will spread and customers will come in out of curiosity.

At this point, the sales staff can proceed with the sales process.

In a clothing store called Diana, the store manager is Ruth.

This news should still be quite impactful in the Abyss.

Charlotte came out of the clothing store and saw the familiar roc perched in front of the clinic. Lois stood in front of the door, smiling and waving at him: "Charlotte, we're here."

Charlotte stepped forward with a smile, looking at her and saying, "You guys came quickly."

Betty was the only one on the roc; the three hundred elven mages were nowhere to be seen, presumably waiting somewhere.

"It's not that fast. There are a lot of people today, so we're flying slowly." Lois grinned, looking at him expectantly. "I heard that your white cat can turn into an ice crystal griffin. Can you ride it and take me for a spin later? I've never ridden an ice crystal griffin before."

"Okay, I'll take you for a test drive later." Charlotte nodded; she wanted to fulfill this little wish of hers. "I'll go back and call Evelyn, and we can ride the griffin while we're at it."

"I'll go with you." Lois quickly caught up with him, then asked curiously, "I just heard some news. They say you killed a Saint-level succubus? Is it true?"

"What do you think?" Charlotte asked her in return.

Lois stared at him for a while, then said thoughtfully, "I might not believe what others say, but I think what you say is true."

"That's right, I killed the succubus clan's Grand Elder and Clan Chief, and I also killed their Young Clan Chief while I was at it," Charlotte said with a smile.

Lois gaped, her face filled with shock.

"Didn't you say you believed it? Why do you look so shocked?" Charlotte gave her a slightly strange look.

"Believe it or not, it's still quite shocking when you admit it." Lois looked at him. "That's a Saint-level expert, someone who's just a little bit below the peak of the Aesop Continent."

"As it turns out, even a Saint-level expert's body can be pierced by a sword; it's nothing special," Charlotte said with a smile.

Lois remained silent; those words were too pretentious, and she couldn't respond.

"And what about the succubus saintess? How beautiful does she have to be for you to be so furious as to storm into the succubus territory to snatch her away?" After a while, Lois asked curiously again.

"She's in that unopened clothing store up ahead. She's the manager now," Charlotte said.

"So, you kidnapped her from the succubus tribe just so she could become the manager of a clothing store?" Lois's expression grew increasingly strange.

Charlotte shook her head: "The cause and effect are wrong. I rescued her from the ignorant succubus race and then gave her the right to choose to become the manager of the clothing store."

Lois nodded; it sounded like there was some truth to it.

"Then aren't you going to marry her?" Lois asked again, looking at Charlotte with a hint of concern in her eyes.

"Of course I'll marry you, and I'll invite you to my wedding banquet," Charlotte said with a smile.

Lois paused, her eyes filled with undisguised disappointment.

"What's wrong?" Charlotte stopped and turned to look at her.

"No...it's nothing. I'll definitely send you a congratulatory gift then." Lois smiled again and followed Charlotte.

The two quickly returned home. Charlotte picked up Evelyn, who was fast asleep on the sofa, and then carried Anna out the door.

"This adorable kitten is actually the legendary Ice Crystal Griffin?" Lois looked at Anna in surprise and reached out to stroke her smooth fur.

"If it weren't for your master, I wouldn't have known this little guy was a griffin." Charlotte tossed Anna a small dried fish, which then leaped into a giant ice crystal griffin.

"How beautiful!" Lois's eyes lit up. The snow-white griffin and its translucent, icy wings were simply stunning.

"Let's go." Charlotte jumped onto the griffin's back first.

Lois also jumped up.

"Anna's speed is a bit fast, hold on tight." Charlotte reached out and gently led her to sit down in front of him.

Even though they were sitting some distance apart, Lois's face still had a slight blush.

"Let's go, Anna," Charlotte said.

Anna immediately took off and flew towards the narrow gap in the abyss.

Evelyn was shaken awake. She stared blankly at the rapidly descending cliffs on either side, then looked at Lois sitting in front of her, rubbing her sleepy eyes and asking, "Uncle, where are we going?"

"I'll take you to work," Charlotte said with a smile.

"Another demonic transformation?" Evelyn sighed. "How many this time?"

"300," Lois replied with a smile. "Isn't Evelyn's limit three hundred? So this time, it's still three hundred people."

"Even if my limit is 300, you can't just make me work at my limit. It's exhausting," Evelyn pouted.

"So, what do you want to eat tonight?" Charlotte asked.

Evelyn's eyes lit up, and she immediately held up three fingers: "Three chicken legs."

"Okay, I'll add one for you, four chicken drumsticks in total," Charlotte said.

"Deal." Evelyn nodded excitedly.

"Where are the elves you brought now?" Charlotte asked.

Lois said, "There is an uninhabited island 500 kilometers southwest of Calva. The teacher said that your demonic transformation is quite a big commotion, so we need to choose a more remote place to avoid causing panic among ordinary people."

"That place is indeed quite suitable," Charlotte laughed. The island that Lois chose was probably the same place he had chosen yesterday.

Charlotte, with Lois on her back, made Anna climb vertically one moment and then dive and fly close to the sea surface the next, doing all sorts of fancy drifting, which made the girl scream and shout that it was so much fun.

"This is so much fun! When I get back, I'm going to ask my master to get me a griffin too!" Lois said breathlessly, her face full of excitement.

"Then you can't say that you had fun experiencing the griffin here, or your master will think I seduced you," Charlotte laughed.

"That's definitely not the case, I know what I'm doing," Lois reassured her.

Charlotte had no idea how much she knew, but as they played around, the familiar island came into view.

Three hundred elves were basking in the sun on the beach, where the sand and the sea were not a common sight.

Seeing flying mounts heading towards the island, they all got up and gradually gathered together.

The griffin circled once and landed on the beach.

"Your Highness." The elves bowed respectfully to Lois, while glancing at Charlotte and Evelyn, whom she was holding.

"No need for formalities, everyone." Lois nodded slightly, then introduced everyone: "This is Dr. Charlotte, and this is Evelyn. Lois will be performing the demonization ritual for you today."

The elves nodded slightly, their gazes towards Evelyn filled with surprise, but they did not question her.

Since the high priest orchestrated this matter and the saintess personally led them here, there must be no mistake.

Moreover, although Evelyn looks small, she has a mysterious aura, and many of them cannot see through her.

"Gentlemen, you should be aware of the risks and dangers of demonization, right?" Charlotte said, looking at the elves.

These elves included both men and women, and they all appeared to be very old. They had clearly been selected, and the remaining ones did not have much time left to live.

"Doctor, don't worry. We were already aware of the risks and costs of this ritual before we came, otherwise we old folks wouldn't have been scrambling to come," an elf said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, the elves also laughed, all with calm expressions.
