I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 25 Your Landlady Has Fallen in Love with You?

Diana leaned back lazily in the leather chair, her shapely thighs crossed, her alluring gaze sweeping over Charlotte sitting opposite her.

Charlotte sat upright, her eyes fixed straight ahead.

The carriage has a very large interior space. The wide seats are so spacious that you can even lie down and there is still room to move. They are covered with snow-white animal hides that are as soft as clouds. Sitting in them feels like sinking into them, and you can feel no bumps at all. You can use any of your driving skills without feeling cramped.

"I heard you frequent the clubs on Aman Street and are considered good brothers by many succubi. Why don't you even dare to look at me anymore?" Diana asked with a smile.

"This is all the work of my predecessor, it has nothing to do with me!" Charlotte said calmly. "I just felt sorry for them and wanted to do my part to help them. Besides, it was a naive thought from my youth, and I've come to a realization now."

"You've figured it out?" Diana asked with a hint of curiosity. "What have you figured out?"

"When you're poor, you should focus on your own well-being; when you're successful, you should help others. If you want to help more people, you must first become rich yourself," Charlotte said earnestly.

"When poor, one should cultivate one's own virtue; when successful, one should benefit all under heaven..." Diana murmured, her interest in Charlotte growing stronger.

As expected of a former genius from Calva City, he speaks eloquently and with a certain elegance.

"I heard that you've been treating patients quite successfully these past few days, and they've all walked out on their own." Diana stared at Charlotte with her beautiful eyes, asking with great interest, "Your surgery seems to actually cure people?"

Upon hearing a question within her field of expertise, Charlotte immediately perked up and confidently stated, "Yes, surgery can remove diseased tissue, repair damage, transplant organs, and improve the body's function and morphology... While it cannot cure all diseases, it can indeed achieve the effect of treating illnesses and saving lives."

Diana listened in a daze, and after a while she couldn't help but laugh and said, "What you're saying makes it sound like you're even more powerful than a great magician who specializes in healing. But no one would dare to claim they can transplant organs."

"While healing magic is magical, it has many limitations in practice. When faced with some diseases of unknown cause, people often just blame it on the gods to punish them in order to maintain their sacred status."

Moreover, those charlatans charge exorbitant fees, often tens of thousands of copper coins, which is tantamount to declaring that the lower classes cannot get hurt or sick.

"Surgery is different. With standardized training, an ordinary human being can acquire the ability to heal and save lives, thereby reducing the cost of medical care for the lower classes," Charlotte explained earnestly.

Diana seemed to see a light shining in Charlotte's eyes, something rarely seen in the Abyss.

Numb gray is the most common color.

She had heard stories about Charlotte; those who fall from grace often decay faster than ordinary people.

But the young man in front of me didn't seem to have given up on his fate.

He remained steadfast in his dream, even though the whole world considered him a heretic.

And it seems he really did it?

Even if it's only just begun.

"Perhaps, Bacca Street could become a decent clinic in the future; that would be a worthwhile investment," Diana thought to herself, her gaze towards Charlotte now filled with admiration.

There are four large medical clinics in the Abyss: one under the Judson family, two under the Duru family, and one under the Daniel family.

The Harriman family, one of the four major families, still does not own a single large medical clinic.

Those doctors may not be very skilled, but they have quite a temper. With the Medical Association backing them up, even the four major families of the Abyss can't force them.

If she could establish a large medical clinic on Bacca Street, it would be a very important asset for her, giving her an advantage in the battle for family succession.

"No wonder those old guys in the Medical Association wanted to cripple you. This would have shaken their very foundation. If they hadn't killed you, they would have been fools among them," Diana said leisurely.

I completely agree with that. Charlotte said humbly, "Those were mistakes I made when I was young and ignorant. Now I just want to make money quietly, live a peaceful life, and avoid conflict."

Diana looked at Charlotte with a half-smile, neither saying whether she believed it nor not.

The carriage came to a slow stop, and the coachman's voice came from outside: "Miss, we've arrived at Harry's general store."

"Thank you for giving me a ride," Charlotte said quickly, getting up to say goodbye.

"No need to be polite. I'll have someone pick up the moisturizing essence in three days." Diana simply waved her hand lazily.

The ornate carriage parked in front of the general store had already attracted the attention of many passersby.

A pure white unicorn, a rare fourth-tier magical beast, and two that are almost identical, used to pull a cart.

Such a grand display is clearly only befitting the four great families.

The prominent fox emblem on the carriage immediately identifies it as belonging to the beautiful Miss Diana of the Harriman family.

But why would Miss Diana, in her capacity, come to a general store on Tucker Street? This is the territory of the Duru family.

"What's going on? Is a big order coming in?" Inside the shop, Harry climbed onto a recliner, pushed up his thick black-rimmed glasses, and looked at the carriage parked at the door with a puzzled expression.

Then, the carriage door opened, and a young human man carrying a large cloth bag stepped out of the carriage.

In the dim light, people could also see the beautiful woman in the carriage, with her signature long silver hair; it was Miss Diana.

"Who is this? Why is he getting out of Miss Diana's carriage!"

"It's a human? And it looks like an ordinary human?"

"I don't understand!"

The onlookers stared in astonishment as Charlotte jumped off the carriage and walked into the general store, whispering amongst themselves.

Holy crap!

Harry's eyes widened, and he fell off the deck chair with a thud.

Struggling to his feet, Harry stared in shock at Charlotte as she walked in. "Your landlady isn't really in love with you, is she?"

Charlotte heard the carriage drive away and sighed softly, "There are some things I can't control, and I can't refuse. I can only let her be."

"I really want to punch that smug face of yours." Harry spat, his expression betraying a hint of envy.

"Let's get down to business. This is the collateral I've received these past few days. Give me an estimate and I'll take it." Charlotte placed the large package on the counter.

Harry opened the package and rummaged through it, saying with little interest, "These are all worthless trinkets. This lizard tail is worth about 500 copper coins. I'll give you a total price of 800 copper coins for the rest."

"Okay, I'll give it to you at this price." Charlotte nodded.

The price was about the same as the price the system had assessed for him, a total of 1300 copper coins, so he could earn a few more copper coins.

Harry's acquisition price was quite reasonable.
