I opened a clinic in the Abyss World
Chapter 244 Set the fire and burn him to death!
Benjamin and Constantine both looked serious as they saw the two items Charlotte had taken out.
They sensed a hint of dread in these two things.
In particular, the strange green key instilled fear in them.
You must know that in this world, they are already the most powerful beings, roaming freely across the four seas without fear.
Now, however, they were filled with fear at the strange key. They looked at each other and saw the answer in each other's eyes.
Charlotte also sensed the heavy atmosphere and explained, "Only the top few large characters of this golden page, 'The Necronomicon,' can I make out. Just as I was about to continue reading, I suddenly fell into an illusion."
I stepped onto golden pages and appeared in an endless sea of blood. Countless vengeful spirits reached out from the sea of blood, trying to grab me. An enormous green palace rose from the sea of blood, built from giant stones thousands of meters long. In the empty shadows of the palace, a red eye was watching me.
Luckily, Amos was next to me and shook me awake. He said that after I fell into a strange state, I started dismantling the necromancer's skeleton, seemingly searching for something.
I searched him and found the key on his person; it was a vibrant green, the same color as the green palace in the sea of blood.
"A blood-red sea, a vast underwater palace, a green key..." Benjamin murmured, his expression growing increasingly solemn.
"Could it be related to the night of the red moon?" Constantine frowned as well.
"I've seen that illusion too," Martha suddenly said.
Everyone looked at her.
Her face had turned deathly pale, and she clutched her head in anguish, saying haltingly, "On the first night of the red moon when I was cursed, the instant I saw the red moon, I also saw an endless sea of blood. But while I was in the sea, countless vengeful spirits rushed towards me, pulling me toward the bottom of the ocean."
I couldn't breathe, but I saw the palace—a huge, green, twisted palace with an extremely distorted and bizarre shape. Just one glance sent chills down my spine. Red lights shone from the windows, like eyes staring at me.
Then I rolled into a patch of nettles; the stinging pain brought me back to my senses. I shook off the vengeful spirits, struggled to swim to the surface, and the moment I regained my breath, I woke up.
The clinic became unusually quiet.
Charlotte's breathing became more rapid. Martha's words proved that his state this afternoon had been close to demonic transformation. If the system hadn't issued a timely warning and woken him from that illusion, he didn't know what would have happened.
However, there is one difference: Charlotte enters the illusion through the Necronomicon, standing on it as a palace rises from beneath the sea to greet him.
Because of the curse, Martha saw the red moon and entered a dream world. She fell directly into the sea and sank to the bottom of the sea amidst the tearing of vengeful spirits, where she saw the palace.
The stimulation from the nettles brought her back to her senses and freed her from the vengeful spirits, which seemed more like a drug-induced mechanism that interrupted the influence of the illusion.
"Could it be that the reason why magical beasts enter a demonic state on the night of the red moon is also due to this mechanism? Perhaps that palace hidden deep in the sea of blood is the mastermind behind the night of the red moon? A being like a god?" Charlotte speculated.
"That's a possibility." Benjamin nodded, glanced at the gold pages and key on the table, and said in a deep voice, "This so-called Necronomicon may have been issued by something in that palace, thereby manipulating intelligent beings to help it obtain something, such as this green key."
Constantine slowly clenched his fist on the table: "So, how many of these golden pages are there on the continent of Aesop? And how many necromancers are working for Him? What is this key for? To open that palace? Or perhaps, it's not a palace at all, but a... prison?"
The clinic fell silent once again.
Martha didn't quite understand their conversation, but she instinctively felt fear.
Charlotte also felt a chill run down her spine; the existence of that eerie, twisted palace made her truly feel the presence of a god.
Constantine and Benjamin's strength has reached the pinnacle of the Aesop continent, the god level.
However, this is just a division of realms. Level 10, also known as the God level, possesses extremely terrifying strength.
But everyone knows that they are not real gods.
They are not yet able to change certain rules and order, create laws, or influence the world on a more macro level.
And the beings in that palace accomplished it.
A thousand years ago, the moon on the continent of Aesop turned red.
The monsters began to go berserk and devour the settlements of various races.
Hundreds of millions of creatures on the continent of Aesop were profoundly affected by this, and many races even went extinct as a result.
This is His terrifying influence.
He drove the monsters into a frenzy of demonic possession; He sought to exterminate all intelligent life; He sought to destroy all cities and settlements on the continent of Aesop.
Moreover, they did not know what kind of being He was, or where He existed.
He deliberately created the red moon, observing the changes in the world from his palace like a god.
Or perhaps He is sealed in that cage by some being, and is trying to activate the Red Moon to achieve the goal of escaping.
But either way, it's all despair-inducing.
The opponent was far too powerful; they were on a completely different level.
"Don't be too discouraged or desperate. The Red Moon has been around for a thousand years, and we are still alive and well, constantly searching for ways to survive."
"He may truly exist, or he may simply be an illusion caused by the red moon. What we must do is base our choices on all the information we have at the moment, and make choices that allow more people to survive," the hermit said in a deep voice.
Like a thunderclap in her ears, Charlotte felt her negative emotions dissipate.
Martha's gaze also cleared.
"That's right, let's focus on the present and make the right choice." Constantine stood up, his confident smile returning. "Let's go, to the Lion Tribe tonight."
"Yes, let's go!" Martha jumped up, her fists clenched, her expression excited.
"Charlotte, you should come along too, just in case something goes wrong," Benjamin said, looking at him.
Charlotte nodded, without refusing.
Before leaving, Charlotte and Kasha reminded her not to go out or open the door to strangers, and she also carried two bottles of nettle extract with her.
As soon as Charlotte stepped outside, she saw a giant golden dragon floating on the roof, with a wingspan of over two hundred meters. Martha and Benjamin were already sitting on the dragon's back.
"Come up." The dragon looked down at him; it was Constantine's voice.
"Okay." Charlotte agreed, bent her legs slightly, and rose straight up, landing lightly on the dragon's back.
"Hold on tight!" Constantine warned, flapping his wings and soaring vertically upwards, instantly bursting out of the abyss and flying westwards into the wilderness.
Charlotte clung tightly to a protruding dragon scale to avoid being thrown off.
"Isn't it dangerous to fly over the wilderness at night?" Charlotte looked at the dark wilderness, where countless magical beasts were lurking, and the occasional roars of beasts were terrifying.
"Hmm, what you said makes some sense. He flew over the wilderness at night, and the magical beasts must have felt very dangerous." Benjamin nodded.
Constantine flew into the wilderness, and wherever he passed, the wilderness below fell silent instantly, even the chirping of insects was silenced.
Charlotte had finally witnessed what true silence was.
They must be terrified...
He suddenly realized something: even the fiercest female beast in the wilderness would bow down shyly in the presence of the Night's Watch.
Danger is always relative to the weak.
The strongest are unrestrained and domineering.
"Master is so strong!" Martha's eyes were full of stars. She usually wandered in the wilderness with great caution, and she had never seen such a majestic sight before.
"How long will it take us to reach the Lion Tribe?" Charlotte asked curiously.
"It would take two hours to cover an 8,000-mile journey," Benjamin replied.
"Three times the speed of sound!" Charlotte was secretly shocked. Sure enough, dragons are the coolest. No wonder the ultimate goal of knights is to become dragon knights.
Constantine erected a protective shield on the dragon's back, enveloping the three of them like a protective shield, blocking out the gale and wind noise, and flew westward.
Martha sat quietly, gazing ahead with a hint of anticipation.
……
Lion Tribe.
Inside a huge animal-hide tent, an orc with a full head and face of black fur sat at the head of the table. A long scar running from the corner of his left eye down to his right lip made him look somewhat fierce. He listened to the report from the orc beside him with a cold expression.
"Chief, there are more and more rumors lately that Horace is a necromancer, and many elders are unhappy that he continues to stay in the tribe. Especially since he killed a young girl the other day, who was the granddaughter of the Tenth Elder. The Tenth Elder said he would burn him alive, and they are currently discussing something with the Third Elder."
Scarface, the chief of the Lion Tribe, clenched his fist and sneered, "That Horace is courting death. I warned him repeatedly to keep a low profile in the tribe and not to harm our people, but he completely ignored me and even went so far as to lay a hand on the Tenth Elder's granddaughter. Go and call him here. We'll eliminate this threat tonight."
"Chieftain, Horace is cunning and unpredictable. If we act rashly, it may be difficult to capture him," the orc whispered closer. "Perhaps..."
"That's right. Send someone to invite him. I'll prepare a banquet here. He's a womanizer and a drunkard; all we need to do is get him drunk." Scarface nodded with a smile, somewhat wary of Horace's methods.
The orc immediately obeyed and left. Soon after, another orc lit a fire in the center of the tent, placed a freshly slaughtered fat sheep on it, and began to roast it.
Even more beautiful orcs came in carrying jars of fine wine, piling them up into a small mountain.
Before long, a pale-faced young man walked in. He was thin as a rake, and his medium-length hair was parted in the middle, half white and half black, which looked somewhat eerie.
He glanced at the roasted lamb in the middle of the tent and the wine jars piled up to the side, his eyes immediately lit up, and he laughed, "Roasted lamb with fine wine, and beautiful women to keep you company, Chief, you really don't mistreat your good brother at all. I thought you had forgotten about me."
"I've been too busy lately and have neglected the Horace brothers a bit. I'll host a banquet tonight to make amends. You must have a few drinks with your brother," Scarface said with a hearty laugh, inviting Horace to sit down.
"Of course, of course. Fine wine and beautiful women, my brother knows my tastes best." Horace sat down next to Scarface, pulled the orc girl who was pouring the wine into his arms, and began to grope her.
A flash of disgusted killing intent crossed Scarface's eyes, but he showed no sign of pleasure on his face. He picked up his wine glass and said, "I heard you accidentally killed another young girl last night?"
Horace paused, a sinister smile creeping across his face. "She was ungrateful, struggling too much, so I used a bit more force when I grabbed her neck, and ended up strangling her to death. Hehehe... Even if she's dead, it's the same, she's still warm, easy to handle."
Scarface's eyes grew increasingly murderous. This guy probably didn't even know who he had killed last night. Keeping him around would only be a ticking time bomb. He had to be dealt with tonight to give his people a satisfactory outcome.
The orc girl he held in his arms trembled slightly, her face filled with fear.
"What are you afraid of? Am I that scary?" Horace grabbed the girl's chin, picked up a wine jar, and poured wine into her mouth, grinning maliciously. "Scared? The more scared you are, the more excited I get, hehehehehe..."
The flickering flames of the campfire reflected on his pale face, making him appear particularly eerie.
The orc girls serving nearby all looked fearful, but none of them dared to say anything.
"Alright." Scar grabbed Horace's hand and pulled the girl out of his arms.
The girl, choked by the alcohol and unable to breathe, staggered a few steps and collapsed to the ground.
"Take him away," Scarface said.
The two orcs quickly stepped forward, helped the girl up, and hurried away.
"Brother, look at this! This woman doesn't know what's good for her, she deserves a beating," Horace said with a laugh, his expression somewhat manic.
"Let's drink." Scarface poured himself a bowl of wine and gestured with his hand.
"Drink!" Horace grabbed the wine jar, tilted his head back, and gulped it down.
With fine wine, delicious meat, and orc girls dancing alongside him, Horace was soon quite drunk.
Scarface took a sip of wine and winked at the orc behind him who was pouring the wine.
The latter grabbed a club and smacked Horace on the back of the head.
Bang!
A crisp sound, that's a good start.
Horace rolled his eyes and fell to the ground.
Two vines emerged from the ground and instantly bound him up like a rice dumpling.
Two orcs pounced on him, pinned him to the ground, tore his clothes to shreds, and threw all his belongings far away, leaving him with nothing.
Scarface stood up, took a ladle of ice water from his subordinate, and poured it directly onto the naked Horace.
Horace jolted awake.
The sharp pain in the back of his head combined with the effects of the alcohol, making him somewhat disoriented. When he saw the vines tightly binding him and his personal belongings thrown into the corner of the tent, his face quickly turned pale.
"Big brother, what... what are you doing?" Horace asked, his voice trembling slightly as he looked at Scarface.
Scarface glared at him coldly: "What are you doing, Horace? How many young girls of my Lion Tribe have you violated over the past year? Shouldn't we settle this score? Those maids are one thing, but yesterday you even killed the Tenth Elder's granddaughter. If I don't burn you alive, how can I explain this to the council of elders?"
"You're going to kill me for a woman?!" Horace roared in fury, his blood-red eyes fixed on Scarface, a sneer on his face. "Scarface, Scarface, have you forgotten how you became chief? If it weren't for me, you'd still be wandering the plains, dreaming of being chief! Tell me, what if your people knew you became chief by..."
"Snapped!"
A loud slap interrupted Horace's words, and half of his face immediately swelled up like a pig's head.
"You're nothing more than a pawn I use. If you behaved yourself, you could live a comfortable life in the Lion Tribe. But you're so violent and ungrateful, so I can't let you live." Scarface said coldly.
"You want to kill me? I am the chosen one of the gods. I can give you another chance now. Prostrate yourself at my feet and wait for the gods to descend so that he can grant you eternal life!" Horace roared madly, the red light in his eyes growing stronger, as if beams of light were shining out.
"Cut out his tongue and blindfold him," Scarface ordered coldly.
Two orcs immediately stepped forward, pried open his mouth, pulled out his tongue, cut it off with a knife, and threw it into the fire nearby.
Then they tore off a piece of black cloth and blindfolded him.
"Waaaaah—"
Horace opened his mouth, which was full of blood, and could only make muffled noises.
As a partner, Scar knew Horace's weaknesses and methods very well: his seductive words, his ghostly eyes, and the mess of props he carried.
Now that all of these things have been removed, he has become a useless person.
"Have the tribesmen gathered?" Scarface asked.
"Yes, Chieftain, the people have already gathered before the altar. They've heard that Horace will be judged and burned at the stake, and almost everyone has come," the orc said respectfully.
"Lift him up and take him to the altar." Scar strode out.
An orc grabbed Horace by the scruff of his neck as if he were a chick and quickly caught up, remaining unmoved despite Horace's struggles and wriggling.
Thousands of lion-kin beastmen have gathered in front of the Lion Tribe's altar.
Standing at the front row were ten elders, the elders of the Lion Tribe.
The Lion Tribe is considered a dominant force on the Stu Grassland. Although the tribe is not particularly large, the adult Lion Tribe members are generally strong enough to reach level four, and there are quite a few powerful individuals among them.
The elders of the Lion Tribe generally possessed strength at level six or above.
The Grand Elder is also an eighth-level orc.
Chief Scarface is also an eighth-level orc, and is incredibly powerful.
"Hmph, I didn't expect Scarface to finally be willing to hand over Horace." The Third Elder sneered.
"If he doesn't hand over the person, I'll personally go and drag him out. I won't be able to vent my anger until I kill him!" the Tenth Elder said through gritted teeth.
Scar returned a year ago, challenged and killed Schumacher, and became the new tribal chief.
Horace, on the other hand, came with him to the Lion Tribe. This magician gave off a cold and sinister feeling and was never liked by the people of the Lion Tribe.
After his arrival, several young girls went missing in the Lion Tribe, which drew the attention of the elders, but Scarface covered it up.
Until last night, the Tenth Elder's granddaughter disappeared, and someone had seen Horace following her before that.
Scarface and his group approached and ascended the altar.
Horace was tied to the prepared stake, his face covered in blood and his eyes blindfolded.
"Fellow tribesmen, I have captured Horace! This scoundrel is a necromancer who has committed numerous murders within our tribe. He is the culprit behind the disappearances of young girls over the past year, and last night he abducted the tenth elder's granddaughter, leading to her death!" Horace stood on the altar, looking down at his people, and proclaimed, "As chief, it is my duty to oversee this. Today, I will burn him at the stake to atone for the crimes he committed!"
They sensed a hint of dread in these two things.
In particular, the strange green key instilled fear in them.
You must know that in this world, they are already the most powerful beings, roaming freely across the four seas without fear.
