I opened a clinic in the Abyss World

Chapter 103 He was a weak man

"Miss Jenny, please persuade our young lady. She hasn't eaten for three days. If this continues, her health will definitely collapse." In the backyard of the city lord's mansion, a maid looked at the elegantly dressed girl carrying a small basket with a worried expression.

"Yes, I brought some flower cakes. She loves my flower cakes the most. Don't worry, I'll go in by myself." Jenny nodded, pushed open the gate, and walked into the elegant courtyard.

The courtyard was quiet, with only a dim yellow light shining from the room.

"Elizabeth, I'm coming in." Jenny knocked lightly on the door twice, then pushed it open and went inside.

The room was quiet; there was no one on the bed or at the table.

Jenny was startled when the door behind her suddenly closed. Before she could scream, a hand covered her mouth.

"Shh, it's me." A familiar voice rang in her ear, and then the hand covering her mouth was released.

Jenny turned around and looked at Elizabeth standing behind her. Her upright posture and good spirit made her look like she could kill a tiger with one punch. She didn't look at all like the maid had said she was about to collapse.

"Didn't they say you were on a three-day hunger strike?" Jenny asked in a low voice. She knew her best friend's appetite; she could eat a whole cow in three days.

"I just didn't eat the food they brought me; I hid some food under the bed," Elizabeth explained.

"What did you hide?" Jenny asked curiously.

"It's basically beef jerky from three cows."

"You call that a little bit?" Jenny said, speechless.

"Do you still want some of the flower cakes I made?" Jenny waved the small box in her hand.

"Of course I want some! I'm practically turning into a cow from eating beef jerky every day." Elizabeth took the food box, opened the lid, picked up a flower cake, and popped it into her mouth one after another. Her eyes narrowed instantly, revealing a satisfied expression. "So delicious!"

"If you ask me, why are you torturing yourself like this? Even if you continue your hunger strike, the city lord certainly won't let you go to the abyss. That place is nothing like Kalvar; it's incredibly chaotic and disorderly," Jenny whispered, watching Elizabeth devour the flower cakes.

"Any new information? Has Carol made a move against him?" Elizabeth ignored her advice and asked directly.

Jenny glanced at her, then hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.

"Something happened?" Elizabeth paused, her hand holding the flower cakes faltering, a hint of tension in her eyes.

"My uncle brought me news that two nights ago, Carol's henchman Wolverine raided the clinic and attempted to assassinate Charlotte..."

"And the result?"

"That night, there was quite a commotion. Charlotte was injured, but Wolverine died. It's said that Charlotte killed him with a magical spell, and that was a level four peak Wolverine." Jenny said, her face still showing a bit of disbelief. "Wasn't his magical power destroyed?"

"Is he badly injured?"

"It's said that the injury was quite serious, but Diana from the Harriman family took him back. The clinic was closed for two days, but it reopened today, so it should be fine."

Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this and continued eating her flower cake. However, as she ate, something felt off. "You mean, he was taken back by that vixen Diana?"

"Yeah, everyone in the Abyss is saying he's living off Diana..." Jenny paused, glanced at Elizabeth's expression, and whispered, "Of course, it's just a rumor... just a rumor..."

The Abyss and Kalva are not far apart, and the upper levels know each other to some extent.

Diana visited Calva quite often, and even stayed at the city lord's mansion. She was a beauty praised by everyone, alluring but not seductive.

Not to mention men, even women can't help but take a second look when they see it.

Charlotte's magical powers were stripped away, yet Diana showed him great favor. What did she want from him?

So now rumors are circulating everywhere in the Abyss that Charlotte, with her pretty face, is living off Diana.

"He's not that kind of person," Elizabeth said decisively, but somehow, the flower cake in her hand suddenly seemed to lose its flavor.

Jenny pulled out a silk handkerchief to wipe her hands, and sighed softly, saying, "People change. If you hadn't threatened to kill yourself back then, the city lord wouldn't have allowed the Physicians' Association to spare his life. But with his magical source destroyed, and in a chaotic and disorderly place like the Abyss, how could a weak man like him survive without finding someone to rely on, facing a vicious guy like Carol?"

Elizabeth remained silent.

"I know you feel guilty towards him because of the broken engagement, but that engagement was arranged by the previous generation. You two have rarely seen each other since you grew up, so there's no emotional foundation between you. Why keep thinking about him?" Jenny earnestly advised, "Give up on this tree that has already moved into someone else's yard; there's a whole forest out there."

"You should just guard your own forest," Elizabeth said, tapping her forehead with a lighthearted tap. "Since Diana is protecting him, he shouldn't be in much danger."

Jenny beamed and leaned closer, saying, "There's a ball tomorrow, hosted by the Calva Merchant Guild. It's a very high-profile event. Besides the city's dignitaries, it's said that representatives from various ethnic groups stationed in Calva will also be attending. It'll be a gathering of talented young people. Why don't you come with me? I'll show you what the forest outside looks like."

"Never mind, I need to practice my sword tomorrow."

"What about the day after tomorrow? A banquet the day after tomorrow would be nice."

"I'm going to practice swordsmanship the day after tomorrow."

"Why do you practice swordsmanship every day? Let alone Karva, in the entire continent of Aesop, which young person can beat you? How far do you intend to train?" Jenny said irritably.

"The fact that even the walls of this small city lord's mansion can stop me shows that my training is far from sufficient," Elizabeth said calmly. "Have you heard of the Judge? He is my target."

"The Judge?" Jenny frowned and shook her head. "You're hopeless."

"Go back now. If he encounters any trouble, just let me know. Once I break through to the Legendary level, I should go travel across the continent," Elizabeth said, closing the food box lid and getting up.

"He's already hooking up with a rich woman, and you're still so concerned about him?"

Elizabeth nodded slightly and said, "You're right. It's already difficult enough for a mage whose magical essence has been destroyed to survive in a place like the Abyss. What more can we ask of him? Kapas ordered Carol to kill him because of me, so it's ultimately up to me to resolve this."

"You...you still want to go to the abyss?!" Jenny exclaimed in surprise.

"Consider it a debt I owe him. Once I repay it, we'll be even and have no further entanglements."

"It's hopeless, hopeless." Jenny shook her head angrily, opened the lid, wrapped the remaining flower cakes in oil paper, placed them on the bedside table, walked to the door, then couldn't help but turn back, looking at her with pity in her eyes, "Your life is ruined by this man."

Elizabeth smiled nonchalantly, "I have a long life ahead of me. After breaking through to the legendary level, I have a lifespan of three hundred years. I'm only twenty now, I'm still a young girl."

Jenny couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this, and she was also a little envious. "You won't age even when you're a hundred years old. That's really enviable."

"Get lost, you little fairy who was born with a lifespan of three hundred years, who are you envious of?" Elizabeth waved her hand and said.

"If you hadn't said anything, I would have forgotten that I'm still a little vixen. Oh well, the vixen sister's nightlife has only just begun. Since you seem to be fine, I won't waste my precious night with you." Jenny pouted at Elizabeth, opened the door, and left with the food box.

Soon, her affected voice came from outside, "Oh dear, your young lady is starving, but she refuses to eat the flower cakes I made. You'd better hurry and go invite the city lord..."

"This girl..." Elizabeth smiled, sat on the edge of the bed, opened the oil paper and continued eating the flower cake, but her thoughts gradually drifted away.

……

After confirming the date for the first launch of the Potion Aversion with the merchant, Charlotte went outside to wait for Diana to return to the living room.

As night fell and the occasional chirping of insects could be heard, Charlotte leaned back on the soft sofa, almost falling asleep comfortably.

Footsteps sounded at the door.

Diana walked in, wearing a red, tight-fitting long dress and a black trench coat.

Agatha stepped forward, skillfully took off her trench coat, and handed her a hot towel to wipe her hands.

"Oh? You were waiting for me?" Diana looked at Charlotte sitting on the sofa, somewhat surprised.

"Yes, there's something I need to tell you." Charlotte nodded.

"Miss, I'll go get you some hot water." Agatha tactfully walked away.

Diana walked over to the sofa and sat down, smiling at Charlotte. "Have you figured it out?"

Despite being looked at so ambiguously by such a beautiful and wealthy woman, and asked such an ambiguous question, Charlotte remained completely unmoved. "Tomorrow, we will begin promoting the Potions Aversion Potion in Kalva. This means that the Abyss will soon know of its existence. Our plan is about to begin."

"Are you sure the message can get back to the Abyss so quickly? And... that it can sway Gabriel enough?" Diana's smile faded, and she asked seriously.

"You'll find out tomorrow," Charlotte said calmly.

Actually... he wasn't sure exactly how the businessman planned to promote the Potions Aversion Agent.

But businessmen are, after all, business tycoons admired by both hermits and those who chase the light, so their methods are probably not too bad.

"Still all mysterious." Diana gave him a deep look, but didn't press further. Instead, she changed the subject, saying, "I heard your clinic is doing pretty well today."

"It's just hard-earned money, you probably wouldn't even look down on it." Charlotte suddenly became a little nervous, glancing at Diana. This woman, is she planning to raise the rent? They just raised it again!

"Don't be nervous, I won't raise your rent." Diana's smile grew even wider. "I just want to discuss something with you. I wonder if you'd be interested in joining forces with my Harriman family to open a large clinic."
