Lu Jing retracted his right foot and casually kicked the gong mallet into the snowdrift.

The handcart was parked in front of the courtyard gate. Five hundred catties of roasted wheat weighed down the axle. The sacks were stacked one on top of the other, and the rope knots were all military-style knots.

Shen Qingqiu gripped the handlebars, staring at Lu Jing for a long time, her voice hoarse.

Are you crazy?

Shen Qingqiu gritted his teeth: "We just killed the one-eyed old man guarding the warehouse, and the grain has been loaded onto the carts. Are you going to run off and sound the alarm gong now?"

"Um."

"Um?"

Shen Qingqiu almost laughed out of exasperation.

"Lu Jing, listen carefully, five hundred catties of grain, five hundred catties! The survival of those men in the Eighth Battalion depends on this cartload of grain. We can just go out along the wall and go as far as we can. Why do you have to call everyone here?"

Lu Jing glanced at her sideways: "By the wall?"

"right."

"What should I do about tire tracks?"

Shen Qingqiu was speechless.

Lu Jing kicked the wheel, leaving a deep groove.

"If you push this thing down the aisle, the patrol soldiers will see it if they look down. Then, two teams will block your way, and archers will be on the wall, and we'll be stuck with our grain sacks, waiting to die?"

Shen Qingqiu was stunned.

Lu Jing touched his side, his palm stained with blood.

"If they sneak away, the road is theirs. If they make a scene, the road is mine."

"You call this making a big fuss?"

Shen Qingqiu looked up and saw that the firelight outside the courtyard had already lit up.

Footsteps echoed, armor plates rubbed together, shields slammed into the ground, and the whole alley resounded.

She muttered under her breath, "You've really messed things up."

Someone outside the gate shouted, "Surround them! Don't let a single one escape!"

The wooden door was kicked open with a loud bang.

The guard captain rushed in carrying a broadsword, half of his face swollen and shiny, the slap from Lu Jing still imprinted on his face.

He spotted the grain cart at a glance, then saw the one-eyed old soldier lying in the corner, and his face contorted with rage.

"It's you!"

Lu Jing raised his hand in greeting: "Does your face still hurt?"

The guard captain gritted his teeth: "Inspector? I'll patrol your mother's mother! You're a thief!"

Heavy armored soldiers surged in from behind him, their shields pressing down one after another, blocking the courtyard gate.

The archer on the wall drew his bow, the arrowhead gleaming with a bluish light.

Shen Qingqiu leaned against the truck bed, his hand slowly slipping into his sleeve.

The guard captain raised his sword and pointed it at Lu Jing: "Archers, listen to my command, shoot the legs first! Shieldbearers, advance! Leave the supply wagons behind, and the men behind too!"

Lu Jing smiled.

The guard captain forced a sinister smile onto his face.

"Keep pretending. Weren't you quite the hero when you slapped me at the front gate?"

Lu Jing pulled out three dark, lumpy iron objects from his pocket.

The guard captain's laughter stopped.

The shield bearers in the front row also stopped.

"Thunderous Lightning..."

Lu Jing tied the three iron lumps to the front of the car.

Shen Qingqiu was completely stunned: "Where did you get this from?"

"Under the weapons rack."

"You dare take that pile of junk?"

"Rusticered is better."

"What's so good about it?"

Lu Jing took out a tinderbox and blew on it.

"Fortunately, they didn't dare to gamble."

The flame touched the fuse, and sparks flew from the three fuse wires.

The guard captain, barely holding back, shouted, "It's fake! Don't listen to his lies!"

Lu Jing gripped the handlebars, blood seeping from the strip of cloth on his side.

Shen Qingqiu stared at the three lit fuses.

"Lu Jing".

"Um?"

"If you really want to die, give me a heads-up."

"rest assured."

"What are you worried about?"

Lu Jing grinned: "I'm tough."

The guard captain roared, "Shieldbearers, charge! He won't dare blow it up! If he does, he'll be dead too!"

Lu Jing raised his head: "Get out of my way!"

The wheels started rolling forward.

He pushed and yelled at the same time.

"Secret order from Staff Officer Gu! Enemy explosives have been smuggled into the warehouse. I'm ordered to clear the mines! Anyone who gets in the way will be caught in the crossfire!"

The courtyard was quiet.

The guard captain's face flushed red: "Bullshit! When did Mr. Gu ever give such an order?"

Lu Jing pushed the cart forward, and the sparks continued to burn.

"Go ask him."

"stop!"

"You try to stop me."

The guard's eyelids twitched.

The shield bearers in the front row held their shields still, their spears extended, but the tips of the spears were trembling.

A soldier whispered, "Boss, the medicine thread is almost empty."

The guard captain kicked him and yelled, "Shut up! Push them up!"

The soldier was kicked and staggered, his shield hitting his comrade next to him, leaving half a foot of space exposed in the shield formation.

Lu Jing charged forward, yelling, "Take this! Old Deng is destroying the parking lot!"

The front of the vehicle pressed down on the shield, and sparks from three thunderbolts crackled and jumped around.

The faces of the people in the front row turned pale with fright.

"Get out of the way!"

"Don't push me!"

"The fire is about to enter the shell!"

The guard captain drew his sword, circled around to the side of the carriage, and slashed at the axle.

"Don't cut the mine! Cut the axle!"

Shen Qingqiu ducked low and used his dagger to stab the guard captain under the armpit.

The guard's broadsword grazed the side of the cart and fell, sending splinters of wood flying.

The dagger grazed the nail seam, leaving a trail of blood.

The guard let out a muffled groan of pain and raised his knee to strike.

Shen Qingqiu took the hit with his shoulder, crashing back to the side of the car, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth, still clutching the dagger in his hand.

"Shen Qingqiu, are you still alive?"

"He won't die!"

"Stop him again."

"You sure know how to order people around!"

The guard raised his knife to strike again, but Shen Qingqiu grabbed an empty grain sack from the cart and threw it at his face.

The sack was covered in wheat flour, which made his vision go black.

"You stinking woman!"

The guard chief tore open the sack, and before the knife could fall, the front of the car was already right in front of him.

Three thunderbolts swayed close to his breastplate.

Lu Jing said in a low voice, "Go ahead and chop."

As the fuse burned down to its last bit, sparks danced along the metal casing.

The front-line shield bearers finally couldn't hold on any longer: "Retreat! Retreat!"

"He's insane! He actually dared to order that!"

The shield array split open from the middle.

The guard captain, in a panic, brandished his sword wildly, shouting, "Come back! Everyone come back! Anyone who retreats will be cut down!"

The heavily armored soldiers pushed to the sides, and none of the archers on the wall dared to fire an arrow.

If an arrow hits a thunderbolt, no one can say for sure whether it will explode on the spot.

Lu Jing pushed the grain cart over the shield: "Make way!"

"Don't push! You stepped on my foot!"

"Lightning's coming! Damn it, don't push me!"

Lu Jing's curses grew even louder: "You dare to defy Gu's secret orders? Do you think your heads are enough to chop off? If you want to earn merit, step forward!"

The soldiers who were about to regroup stopped in their tracks when they heard "Gu Muliao".

The guard captain, his face flushed red with suppressed rage, shouted, "He's lying! He's a thief!"

Lu Jing kicked away one of the shields lying on the ground.

"Would a thief dare to push a grenade in your face? Would you dare?"

The guard captain was so angry he couldn't speak.

Shen Qingqiu followed, holding onto the side of the carriage, and added a cold remark.

"If he were a thief, it would sound even better if word got out that you hundreds of people were being chased by a thief."

One of the soldiers instinctively retorted, "Shut up!"

Shen Qingqiu looked up: "Then come here, come here."

The man immediately shut up.

The wheels rolled over the threshold of the courtyard gate.

Lu Jing pushed the cart forward for several dozen steps, turned into a narrow alley, and suddenly stopped.

Shen Qingqiu grabbed the truck bed and asked, "Why did you stop?"

Lu Jing pinched the fuse in the middle with his fingers, and the spark was only a finger's width away from the iron shell.

Shen Qingqiu's expression changed: "Don't use your hands!"

Lu Jing pinched his fingers together.

The fire died down, and wisps of white smoke rose into the air.

I took a deep breath and went to pinch off the second one.

The second fuse suddenly burst into a burst of sparks and burned even faster than before.

Shen Qingqiu's face turned pale. He used his dagger to pick up the snow and mud and pressed it directly onto the snow.

With a hiss, smoke billowed up.

Lu Jing glanced at her and said, "Sure."

"Stop talking nonsense, there's still one left!"

The third medicinal thread burned down to half its length. Lu Jing pressed it down with his scabbard, and Shen Qingqiu covered it with snow. The sparks struggled in the snow for a couple of moments before being extinguished.

Only the two of them could be heard breathing heavily in the alley.

Lu Jing looked at his scalded fingertip and cursed.

"Those bastards in the Ministry of Works make fuses thicker than shoelaces."

Shen Qingqiu leaned against the truck bed, panting heavily: "You just said you were tough."

"Um."

"I think you're just a worthless person."

Lu Jing smiled.
