Witch Hunter Rhapsody
Chapter 45 Monsters and Mages
A small hut appeared between Vitas, Maximus, and Lightning.
boom!
Thirty bolts of lightning struck the hut, shattering the unfinished structure into pieces, scattering wood chips and stone fragments—a sudden and unexpected event that caught the two wizards completely off guard.
"Lal's Hut Technique?"
Maximus noticed a faint glow emanating from Vitas's gauntlets—was it a spell ring?
He even has this kind of thing?
"Damn it, what did I say? Damn it, Maximus, let's do it together!"
"good!"
Maximus caught the lightning staff that Vitas threw back instantly.
Vitas had already charged forward with his sword on his shoulder.
Within seconds, the dust that had blocked Alistair's view had settled.
Vitas estimated the distance using speeds that are absolutely impossible for ordinary people.
"Twenty meters. Five seconds. Large spells cannot be cast, only small spells can be cast."
He concluded that continuing to press forward was the right thing to do.
"Wow, you're experienced."
Alistair cried out, "Come forth, my servants!"
The ring on his left index finger began to glow, and then three fully armed warriors appeared.
"They are contract slaves! These people are all human, with magic arrays engraved on their bodies, summoned by mages to serve as vanguards when needed!"
Sure enough, Alistair immediately ordered, "Stop this guy!"
Maximus was starting to get anxious. Three against one, even three pigs would take a spell to kill completely. When he had the advantage of being the vanguard, he was no match for Alistair in terms of magic, let alone now that the advantage of being the vanguard had disappeared.
But what happened next made both Alistair and Maximus voice their doubts.
"what?"
Vitas's movements were barely visible; his speed was almost unaffected as he sliced all three warriors in half and continued charging toward Alistair.
It was only at this moment that Alistair realized what was happening.
It turned out that Maximus wasn't too weak, but rather that the man in front of him was indeed too powerful.
Of all the warriors Alistair knew, there was probably no one who could defeat him!
"Hey! We don't need to fight. I just wanted to kill Maximus, that wizard over there. I only attacked you because I had no other choice. I am Draco Gresley's scribe. You should know who I am. As long as you pledge allegiance to me, you won't have to struggle in this small town anymore."
To be honest, Vitas was tempted. This identity was much more reliable and realistic than Maximus's. After all, Maximus wouldn't be grateful for his rescue; he would also be planning to get rid of him.
However, considering the capabilities involved, cooperating with Maximus is more realistic, since it is almost impossible for Maximus to kill him.
While they were thinking, something that the three of them had been ignoring suddenly came to their senses.
"roar!"
The monster Via leaped up, almost touching Alistair's body.
However, a circle of black light bloomed, as if an invisible force pushed her away. Vitas seized the opportunity to avoid the circle of light, but Alistair had already drawn another staff.
"Wink's Magic Flash Bow".
bow?
A huge magic circle appeared from the top of the staff, followed by hundreds of arrows, and the staff's light dimmed instantly.
Wink's Flash Bow & Staff.
The wand stores one spell. One Anonymous Lightning Bolt will unleash a bolt of lightning, but one Wink's Flash Bow will release an arrow depending on the user's skill level.
Vitas, of course, knew none of this, but he could sense that Alistair was ten or even a hundred times stronger than Maximus.
Ding ding ding ding ding!
Vitas didn't completely dodge, but fortunately, these arrows were purely physical effects and couldn't penetrate Vitas's armor.
But for the unarmored monster Viya, she simply caught all those arrows.
Viya has become almost like a glowing hedgehog. The fact that she can continue to survive under such circumstances speaks volumes about her superb skills.
Alistair looked rather grim.
Who would have thought that such a small city would have two such masters?
Viya is a monster. How did Viya manage to create such a terrifying monster under such conditions?
And then there was this heavily armored warrior. It was only at this moment that Alistair realized that the armor this guy was wearing was definitely not ordinary.
Is it possible for someone like that to appear in a town like this?
From both the left and right sides, Viya the Monster and Vitas launched an attack simultaneously.
"Sigh, it's such a shame I didn't bring my little darlings along in order to speed things up."
The ideal combat distance for a wizard is over 300 meters, and with the addition of other spells, Alistair even felt that a distance of over 10 kilometers would be a reasonable distance.
This kind of combat can already be described as extremely close-quarters.
Forget it, life is more important than magical items.
Anonymous - Mud Swamp Technique
The ground softened, and Vitas sank right in.
Damn it!
Another ring on Alistair's hand began to glow.
Anonymous - Fireball Technique
A massive fireball slammed directly into the Viya monster, the flames carrying a burnt smell, and the entire Viya monster vanished within the fireball.
Next up is that heavy knight; his armor is quite interesting, I could definitely take it back with me…
"Anonymous - Swamp Mud Transformation Technique!"
Upon hearing the name, Vitas immediately realized what was happening and jumped out. When he landed back on the ground, the swamp had hardened.
At this moment, Alistair had already begun chanting a spell.
"Oops!"
Vitas charged forward with all his might.
"Zarastir Mage Shield!"
A hexagonal shield unit blocked Vitas's path. Vitas fought back with all his might, but only managed to crack it slightly.
To be on the safe side, Alistair cast a new defensive spell on himself.
"Zarastine Dimensional Shield!"
Fuck!
Maximus was also chanting, and at this moment he hated himself for not being able to concentrate.
Once Vitas is defeated, relying on his magical prowess, it will be completely impossible for him to survive against Alistair.
Go Vitas!
"damn it."
Vitas doesn't actually like to swear, but the wizard's shamelessness is truly speechless.
Since things have come to this point, there's nothing we can do.
"come out."
Flames rose beneath Vitas's armor; the more undead he summoned, the stronger he became, and the more spell resistance he gained.
The Scout is the only one that can be summoned from 500 meters away, and Vitas needs spell resistance now!
"Fireball!"
It was summoned, and flames instantly engulfed Vitas. The fireball, as tall as a small building, instantly covered the entire space, and then more undead appeared.
The flames and intense heat obscured everyone's vision, and he had about five seconds before the flames dissipated.
Fighting a wizard requires calculating every second.
He summoned twenty people, which was enough to enhance Vitas to an unimaginable degree.
He swung his sword again, and this time, to Alistair's astonishment, his mage shield was cleaved open.
Only one Zarast Dimensional Shield remains, and once it is broken, he has only one chance.
"Summoning the master of the shadow world, calling forth the slave of yesterday's illusion... I release you in the name of the Lord of the Underworld..."
Vitas's sword has arrived.
At this moment, he was more terrifying than a demon in Alistair's eyes; his body was engulfed in flames, and his eyes were filled with rage.
Furthermore, why are there other figures around? Who are they?
"Attias Shadow Projection!"
call!
In an instant, Alistair was cleaved in two.
Vitas took a deep breath, just as the flames subsided, and he quickly summoned his subordinates back.
Damn, wizards are really troublesome.
Because of the pain of summoning his subordinates, he did not hear Maximus's call immediately.
What is Maximus talking about?
"Shadow Projection! He's not dead! You just killed an illusion! He's about to emerge from the shadows!"
What!
Vitas turned his head and saw a pair of hands appear from the space, followed by a face and a body, all in strange poses and making bizarre movements. When the mouth appeared, there was also a chanting sound.
Alistair is casting a spell!
"Fall, spear that slays the god of death!"
Summoning the Spear of Longinus!
A gun had already appeared; Vitas had no time to react!
"puff!"
The sound of flesh being pierced.
Alistair stared in astonishment at the claws protruding from his chest.
"Viya, I never imagined your skills had reached this level."
The monster Viya, now only half her body remaining, was no longer recognizable as human. Her body was charred black, and she didn't even have the strength to pull her hands out. She and Alistair finally collapsed to the ground.
