My Magical Card Tavern
Chapter 13: How could you do this! How could I possibly be embarrassed!
"I don't understand."
"I really don't understand why all of you look so lifeless when you mention a tavern or see one in person."
Ginnell slammed his hand on the bar, and Morin, who was sitting obediently at the table, couldn't help but tremble all over.
It looked more like a cold-blooded, insane warden was preparing to torture and torment the prisoners.
"Don't you understand?"
"No, you don't understand anymore?"
Hearing Gianna's words, which sounded like she had suffered a great loss and been wronged, Maureen couldn't help but laugh.
"The tavern's entrance is in the dungeon; that alone is enough to make people wary, isn't it?"
"I know what you're trying to say is that many dungeons have safe zones, and taverns are safe zones too, so why are you the only one being targeted?"
"Ginnell, my new friend!"
"Have you ever seen a dungeon where safe zones are everywhere? It's already a miracle you weren't turned into a demon by temptation!"
It's like a self-proclaimed nobleman whose manners, posture, and even the details of his pronunciation and grammar are flawless. His demeanor is perfectly natural, even when he provides meticulous service to his servants and attendants.
Anyone who saw his behavior would think he was a true aristocrat, whose daily life was a high-class enjoyment for most ordinary people.
But there's a problem.
That is, the person in front of me claims to be an aristocrat in many places and sneaks into banquets to eat and drink extravagantly. This matter and this person are quite famous on the mainland.
It's already quite generous of the local prominent families to be willing to host you and invite you to their banquets.
You should be grateful for the Holy Light's protection if you weren't treated as a vanguard or inside agent for a bandit group, if there were no armored knights hiding in the dark room, no rangers hanging in the trees, and no assassins crouching on the rooftops and outside the windows!
At this point, Maureen slapped the bar and couldn't help but stand up.
"How could you do this to me!"
Ginnell's eyes widened.
"How dare you slander someone's innocence out of thin air!"
"Let me tell you, I'm actually from the same hometown as the Pandaren, and the tavern's entrance isn't just in the dungeons; you can find the tavern's wooden door in any normal area of Pangu!"
Morin smiled with relief.
"Who knows if you and the Pandaren are from the same hometown? And don't you know how big the Pangu Continent is?"
"Perhaps some people have entered the tavern in other places, but statistically speaking, it's clear that they've seen it more often in the dungeon."
Now, Maureen's heart has finally calmed down completely.
Gianna could sit at the bar and glare at him while exchanging insults, and he didn't feel anything unusual about himself, nor did the magical items his family had given him trigger.
This tavern is a safe zone that's both normal and not quite normal; it's not some kind of devil's temptation.
"What do you have to drink? I'll have a drink."
Morin calmly took out a silver coin from his pocket and flicked it to Gianna with a slight flick of his finger.
"There's beer, and some juice I just bought today. I heard from another magician apprentice that you apprentices shouldn't drink alcohol."
Morin felt as if he had been stabbed in the heart again.
"Yes, it is not recommended for apprentice monks to drink alcoholic beverages, after all, it involves the apprentices' future."
"But since this place is now called a tavern, it would be a waste of my trip if I didn't come and experience something new."
Maureen waved his hand, signaling Gianna to quickly bring the wine over.
Ginnell flicked the silver coin back.
"According to the pub's rules, I'll give you a free beer."
Morin raised an eyebrow.
"Is there really such a good thing?"
"Alright, just tell me everything that's special about this place, so I don't have to ask you every time."
Ginnell repeated the card demonstration, but Morin showed no curiosity or excitement for the new experience.
Instead, it was as if a major family tragedy had occurred, with the main theme being sadness.
"The cards you have here..."
"Did you learn this magic yourself?"
Morin pointed to herself, her eyes radiating a clear, innocent gaze.
"Tell me how I can play. Have you ever seen a card game with only a few cards?"
"Um?"
Answer me, speak!
Don't stay silent when faced with a difficult question!
Aren't you the bar owner? Can't you at least show some professionalism?
After a moment's hesitation, Gianna asked.
"Logically speaking, even a mage apprentice should know a few spells, right? How many do you know?"
Morin sighed.
"My family is relatively wealthy, and I showed some talent in meditation when I was young. My family has already arranged career plans for us."
"My current goals, besides meditating to increase my magical power, are to create three spells."
"Offense, defense, and support—I'm already considered good. Some self-taught people just learn whatever they can find, and it's impossible for them to have their talents assessed during the learning process like I do."
Genele nodded thoughtfully.
Morin's meaning was clear: the three spells his family chose for him were not intended to train him to be an all-rounder, but rather to test which spell he was more talented in.
If the test can reveal the answer, then Morin, who already knows her strengths and weaknesses, will indeed have a certain advantage in her future career planning as a mage.
Morin counted on his fingers the magic he had learned.
"First, the shield spell. This is something that's been discussed a lot; every apprentice knows it."
"Secondly, I chose the Freeze spell, an offensive spell with some control."
"The third is the wisdom of the apprentice, which uses magic to enhance one's mental state."
After thinking for a moment, Morin, imitating Ginnell, conjured up cards and gently placed the three cards on the bar.
"According to the card logic you described, I should start by casting a shield spell on myself, then use Apprentice's Wisdom to boost my spirit, and finally use Freeze to finish off the enemy."
Morin stared intently at Genelec and said.
"How would you handle this?"
After careful consideration, Gianna decided to speak sincerely.
"I'll give you a big fireball. Unless your shield spell proficiency has surpassed the apprentice level, you'll definitely die from this fireball."
Morin spread his hands and laughed.
"See, you can't play this game, Gene."
"If you really want to play cards, I can go back to Silver Star City and introduce you to some powerful warriors or mages."
"Given their skill level, I believe they can provide you with an exhilarating tabletop battle."
Ginnell subconsciously grabbed the card case and started rubbing it. Watching Maureen awkwardly sip his beer, his mind suddenly went blank.
He felt a warm, magical force trying to communicate with him.
It felt exactly the same as before entering the second business session.
