Magical Cat

Chapter 88 Tomboy

Elaine had originally intended to use her slingshot to shoot the other person down, but upon hearing such a scream, she silently stopped.

She turned to look at Li En on the ground, and seeing the kitten's mischievous grin, she knew it was him again.

Elaine patted Li En's head hard before walking toward the adventurer.

"Are you alright?" Elaine asked.

"I'm fine, thank you for your help!"

Li En and Elaine were taken aback. The tomboy adventurer's voice was surprisingly pleasant, like the gentle ringing of silver bells, making people feel close to him.

Upon closer inspection, they realized that the other person was also very good-looking.

With soft facial features and fair skin, she would be considered a stunning beauty by any standard of beauty, whether as a man or a woman.

Both Li En and Elaine were stunned.

"My name is Niniwei."

Nini introduced herself, and Elaine, who showed no reaction for a moment, looked puzzled.

"Um, I, my name is Elaine!"

Just then, the thief whose clothes had been set on fire by Elaine suddenly sprang up from the ground, pointing his knife at Elaine.

After extinguishing the fire on the clothes, the thief kept looking for an opportunity.

Perhaps feeling that Nini was too difficult to deal with, they decided to kidnap Elaine to escape.

Niniwei gripped the hilt of her sword and stepped in front of Elaine.

Although she was not slow, there were others who were even faster.

Li En pounced on the thief's face with a whoosh, then kicked him back with his hind leg.

The thief felt a heavy blow to his face and rolled backward.

As he stopped, a sharp sword and a slingshot loaded with fireballs were aimed at him.

The thief dared not cause any more trouble and put down his knife, surrendering without resistance.

Li En used binding magic to tie up the three thieves tightly.

They didn't take the thief hanging on the wall down; they just hung him on the wall and tied him up.

Melina arrived late at that moment.

She first looked Niniwei up and down carefully, making her feel a little embarrassed.

"I have already notified the city garrison; they will be here soon."

Before long, two city guards arrived at the alley and arrested the three thieves.

This was the first time Li En had ever seen the city defense army, and he noticed that these soldiers who maintained the city's security were all wearing fine iron armor.

The armor was not a full-body suit; it only consisted of a breastplate and gauntlets, with the rest being leather armor.

Even so, it is still much better than the equipment of most adventurers.

After subduing the thieves, they politely thanked the three people present for their bravery.

He was particularly respectful to Melina, which suggests he knew she was a teacher at the Royal Magic Academy.

Otherwise, if it were an ordinary mage, the city defense forces might not have been so polite.

"Alright, let's go back."

The three of them walked out of the alley together, and Li En returned to Elaine's arms.

They walked back to the main street together, during which time they learned about Niniwei's situation.

Niniwei had just arrived in Falling Star City from the countryside.

Like most people who come to the city to work, she is here to be an adventurer.

According to her, she had a skilled swordsmanship master in the countryside, and now that she has mastered the art, she is coming to the big city to make her way in the world.

It's quite a coincidence that today is Niniwei's first day in the city.

After asking around, I finally found the shopping street. I plan to register as an adventurer at the Adventurers' Guild first, but I haven't even thought about where to stay yet.

"Miss Niniwei, the Adventurers' Guild is not far ahead. You can register there. The guild also provides food and lodging at prices that are considered cheap for the city."

Elaine had just been there today, so this was a good opportunity for her to give Niniwei directions.

"Are we finally almost there? Thank you both so much. I hope we'll have the chance to meet again in the future."

Nini was quite decisive. After recognizing the direction of the Adventurers' Guild, she thanked them and said goodbye, then hurried briskly toward the guild.

Getting to know such a lively girl brings joy to everyone.

The journey back was uneventful, and they returned safely to the academy.

Elaine and Melina thoroughly enjoyed this unexpected vacation.

After the two parted ways, Li En also went back to the dormitory with Elaine.

He's been diligently cultivating for so many days now, he deserves a good rest.

But Li En didn't sleep long that night; he was dragged out in the middle of the night.

"Old man, aren't you sleeping at night?" Li En asked curiously.

He was sound asleep when the dormitory window was quietly pushed open a crack, and Li En was sucked out.

When he was awakened by the blinding light, he found himself at Corbyn's lab table.

"You bastard, I haven't heard from you for days. I can't find you in that dorm either. Where have you been hiding?" Corbyn said angrily.

His experiments have been delayed for the past few days, all because of the trouble Li En caused him.

At this point, Li En became interested and jumped up: "I went to cultivate and made some progress. Let me show you."

Just as Li En was about to cast a spell, he was stopped by Corbyn.

"Stop it. The trouble you caused last time really bothered me for days. That old woman kept bringing people to the school demanding an explanation from me. It was so annoying," Corbyn said, annoyed.

"Didn't you beat her up? How dare she cause you trouble?" Li En didn't believe it.

He had seen how badly that old woman, Foppert, was dealt with by Corbyn.

If it weren't for the life-saving magical items he possessed, he would have lost his life.

"That old woman may be incompetent, but the Forbitt family behind her is incredibly proud and unwilling to compromise their reputation. These nobles are the most troublesome!"

Corbyn waved his hand impatiently and said, "That's enough, let's continue the experiment!"

Speaking of this, Li En looked utterly dejected.

He approached Corbyn only to complete his mission, agreeing to cooperate with his experimental project.

Kexin had already completed her task with Li En, so she had lost interest in Kobern's experimental project.

But he is also a cat with a conscience, and he would never do something like using people only to benefit them and then discarding them when they are no longer needed.

Li En was being manipulated at will by Kobrain, who made various attempts to give the Seed of Life replica the same ability to grow on its own as Li En.

Kobrain's requirements weren't actually high; he just wanted the Seed of Life to be able to absorb wood elements on its own. As for how fast it absorbed the elements, he could figure that out later.

But this first step is not easy.

Li En couldn't be of much help in this matter either.

His own magical knowledge was very weak, and he had only recently filled in the gaps in his knowledge that he could use. He was far from being able to help Corbyn with his research work; at most, he could only serve as an experimental subject.

"Is your research really useful?" Li En couldn't help but question his work.

"Hopefully it will work," Cobra sighed.

Li En hadn't expected that Corbyn's attitude would be even more negative than he had anticipated.

"Why are you so obsessed with the Seed of Life? I've heard that it can give birth to elves; are you trying to mass-produce this race?"

"Old man, are you a Pokémon fanatic?"
