My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 79 The Virtuous and Kind Lin Huimin

I drew the curtains and turned to pounce on Lin Huimin.

Lin Huimin's skin felt cool, and it was very comfortable to hug her.

Lin Huimin hugged me, her face beaming. Several times she tried to open up to me, asking what was going on with Tang Yan and what I should choose.

But she didn't dare to speak up. She was afraid that if I said I would choose Tang Yan, what would she do?

Lin Huimin gradually fell asleep amidst this anxiety and uncertainty.

The next day, around 2 p.m., the dazzling sunlight streamed through the white curtains, making Tang Yan slowly open her eyes. She sat up and looked at Da Zhuang, who was fast asleep beside her, feeling a sweet warmth in her heart.

But then she heard Da Zhuang's phone beep with a text message. She couldn't resist taking the pants over, pulling Da Zhuang's phone out of her pocket, and looking at it.

The person who noted Tang Yan's name made eight phone calls to Da Zhuang and sent several text messages.

"Dazhuang, where did you go? I woke up and couldn't find you!"

"Dazhuang, I'm going to work now, kisses."

"Dazhuang, what are you doing? It's almost noon, and you still haven't replied to my text message?"

Lin Huimin caught a glimpse of Tang Yan's text message to Da Zhuang, and her heart sank suddenly. A dense cloud of jealousy enveloped her heart, and she subconsciously gripped her phone tightly, her breathing becoming inexplicably labored.

She felt as if these few text messages were a boulder pressing down on her chest, making her feel tightness, soreness, and a sense of powerlessness.

Knowing about Tang Yan's existence was already upsetting enough for her, but now that she had seen the text message Tang Yan sent, it made her even more uncomfortable.

She really wanted to call Tang Yan back and tell her that Dazhuang was sleeping in her bed now and would never go to her place again.

Her fingers hovered over the buttons, but she hesitated. She feared that making the call would only make things worse. She also feared that if Dazhuang found out, he would be furious and leave her.

After hesitating for a moment, she sighed and decided not to call. She took out her phone and secretly wrote down Tang Yan's number.

Then he deleted Tang Yan's text messages to avoid Da Zhuang finding out he had looked at his phone.

After finishing, he put his phone back in Dazhuang's pants pocket, got up and washed up. After washing up, he took out food from the refrigerator and started washing and cooking vegetables.

In my sleep, I smelled a strong yet familiar spicy aroma, followed by the sizzling of hot oil and the crisp clanging of the spatula against the wok. My drowsy state was gently awakened in an instant.

I got up and went into the kitchen. I saw Lin Huimin wearing a beige apron, her forehead glistening with sweat, constantly stirring the spicy chicken in the wok. My heart warmed instantly; I felt a sense of home.

A native of Guangdong, she usually only drinks light, slow-cooked soups and never touches anything spicy. But now she skillfully tosses the iron wok, the red oil bubbling, and the aroma of Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers, along with warmth, fills the whole room.

Her profile was serious and gentle. Hearing footsteps, she turned around, smiled at me, and spoke in a soft, gentle tone:

"Dazhuang's awake? Almost done, all your hometown dishes are ready."

I stepped forward, gently wiped the sweat from her forehead, and put my arms around her waist. Watching her plate the stir-fried spicy chicken, I felt a sense of belonging and security for the first time in Guangdong.

To be honest, when I was with Tang Yan, we always ate fast food outside, and I've never had a meal cooked by her.

Lin Huimin served the spicy chicken and was about to take the dish to the table when I held her tightly in my arms, my hands around her waist showing no sign of letting go.

She didn't push me away, but leaned gently against me, still holding the spatula smeared with chili oil in her hand, and said in a soft, gentle voice, "The dishes are all ready. Go wash up first, and we'll eat right away!"

I tightened my arms around her, gently rested my chin on her shoulder, and whispered in her ear, "Okay! I'll do whatever you say!" Then I went to the bathroom to wash up.

When I finished washing up and approached the dining table, I saw a table full of Sichuan dishes: boiled pork slices with bright red oil, spicy chicken sprinkled with sesame seeds and Sichuan peppercorns, and refreshing cold-dressed houttuynia cordata, all of which are my favorite Sichuan home-style dishes.

I looked at Lin Huimin with some surprise: "Sister Lin, didn't you say you couldn't handle spicy food? Why are you making Sichuan cuisine all of a sudden?"

Lin Huimin smiled and handed me a bowl of rice, her face full of love: "If you like it, I made it. I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you, so I should learn how to eat spicy food, right?"

After saying that, she carefully picked up a small slice of lotus root, and as soon as it touched her tongue, she frowned from the spiciness, quickly stuck out her tongue, picked up her water glass, and gulped down several mouthfuls, looking both charming and adorable. Even though she clearly couldn't handle any spice herself, she diligently cooked a whole table of Sichuan dishes for me.

Looking at her, I felt a surge of warmth in my heart. I picked up some food and ate it heartily, praising how delicious it was.

I was enjoying my meal when my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up, puzzled, and saw it was Tang Yan calling. Feeling a little guilty, I glanced at Lin Huimin. Lin Huimin, however, remained unmoved, quietly eating her rice.

I hesitated for a moment before hanging up the phone.

Seeing this, Lin Huimin knew it was probably Tang Yan calling again, so she asked me, "Who is it? Dazhuang, why aren't you answering? Is it inconvenient?"

When I heard her words, I smiled awkwardly and shook my head: "No, it's not inconvenient, I just don't want our time together to be disturbed."

After hearing this, Lin Huimin casually replied, "Oh!" Then, the undisguised joy in her eyes disappeared, and she put down her chopsticks, looking at me with a hesitant expression.

Feeling Lin Huimin's gaze, I was filled with guilt. A woman like Lin Huimin is hard to find even with a lantern, yet I was entangled with Tang Yan.

As I was still lost in my guilt, my phone rang again. Seeing that I didn't recognize the caller ID, I breathed a sigh of relief and answered. Tang Yan's soft voice came through the phone: "Dazhuang, why can't I get through to you?"

As I listened to her voice, my heart pounded. I turned to look at Lin Huimin and saw that she was looking at me.
