My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 128 Making a Great Escape

I saw Tang Yan roll up her sleeves and take a step forward, clearly ready to rush up and start a fight, so I quickly stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and pulled her into my arms.

Tang Yan caught a glimpse of the helpless yet worried look on my face. She forcefully suppressed the anger surging in her chest and didn't go forward to confront Lin Guilian. She knew she had to restrain herself in front of me and not let me think she was too hot-tempered and impulsive, otherwise I might leave her.

Lin Guilian was surprised to see that Tang Yan had actually managed to suppress her anger. She knew Tang Yan's personality too well; normally, the two of them would have already been arguing, and she would never have been so patient and silent.

But Lin Guilian wouldn't give up just because she backed down. Since she was determined to win Dazhuang over, she naturally wouldn't care about anything else.

She turned to Dazhuang, smiling gently, "Dazhuang, are you hungry? I'll cook for you. I'm a very good cook, I guarantee you'll be satisfied!"

Upon hearing this, I quickly waved my hand to interrupt, "No need to do it, I have to go to work."

Just kidding, I wouldn't dare eat her cooking. If I actually agreed, Tang Yan would probably explode on the spot. Compared to Lin Guilian, I care more about Tang Yan's feelings, after all, she's my girlfriend.

This is no place to linger. I'd better get out of here as soon as I've said my piece. If I stay any longer, they might just tear this rented place down.

As soon as I stepped out the door, Tang Yan saw Lin Guilian immediately stand up, look up at her, and say in a sharp tone, "What? Trying to cling to Dazhuang again?"

Lin Guilian glanced at her and said with a hint of impatience, "Nonsense."

After saying that, he turned and walked into the house, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.

"You!" Tang Yan was furious at Lin Guilian's arrogant attitude. She rushed to the door, pounded on it a few times, and shouted coldly, "Lin Guilian, you'd better find a job and move out right now."

She was truly furious. This Lin Guilian not only had designs on her boyfriend, but also constantly gave her attitude, and shamelessly stayed in someone else's house—she was utterly shameless.

Inviting a god is easy, but sending him away is hard. If this house hadn't been rented by Li Qing and registered in Li Qing's name, she would have already gone directly to the landlord to terminate the lease. Then, let's see where Lin Guilian, who was penniless, would have gone.

Tang Yan's heart stirred, and she secretly pondered whether she could find a way to persuade Li Qing to come back and live there, or simply persuade Li Qing to terminate the lease, so that she would have a legitimate excuse to completely drive Lin Guilian away.

Seeing that there was no response from inside the door, she angrily put her hands on her hips, turned around, and went back to her room. After working a whole night shift, her head was spinning and she was feeling sleepy. She was too lazy to argue with Lin Guilian anymore and decided to get some sleep first.

Inside the room, Lin Guilian looked up at the wooden door, took out a cigarette, and lit it. She had heard Tang Yan's words clearly, but she simply couldn't be bothered to pay them any attention.

She secretly wondered if Dingsheng Factory No. 2 was short of people. If she could work there, she would be close to Dazhuang, and it would only be a matter of time before she won him over.

With that in mind, she decided to ask Dazhuang.

Lin Guilian looked up at the blazing sun high in the sky, its blinding rays baking the earth. She made up her mind to wait until the evening when the sunlight softened and was no longer so intense before heading to the Second Factory to find Dazhuang.

She had already found out in advance that Dazhuang was working the afternoon shift today, and his work hours would continue until 10 p.m. As long as she went there around 7 or 8 p.m., there would be plenty of time, and she would have plenty of time to make it.

As for not going now, firstly, it's too sunny, and secondly, even if I went now, the security guards at Dingsheng wouldn't let me in. I'm afraid of getting a tan while standing in the sun at the entrance, and Dazhuang might not like it if I'm all dark-skinned. If I wait until evening, even if I can't go in, at least I won't have to stand in the scorching sun at the entrance.

Moreover, having learned from her previous experience, she knew she couldn't do the car stunt in front of Tang Yan, otherwise the two would start fighting again. That would severely damage her image in Da Zhuang's eyes.

Thinking of this, she put out her cigarette, lay down on the bed, and prepared to have a good sleep. She would sneak off to find Dazhuang in the evening.

The blazing sun hung high overhead, its scorching rays pouring down, making my forehead covered in sweat. Riding my motorcycle at breakneck speed along the road, the wind whipping at my face carried waves of intense heat, like gusts of hot air repeatedly scorching my skin.

After riding for quite a while, I finally arrived at Dingsheng No. 2 Factory. I slowly rode my bike into the factory's parking shed, parked it steadily, and wiped the thick sweat from my forehead with my sleeve before walking towards the security room ahead.

Li Jie, like me, works the middle shift. He had already arrived and was sitting in the security room. Seeing me approach, he smiled and said cheerfully, "Dazhuang, didn't bring a pretty girl to work today?"

I rolled my eyes at her: "No, I'm scared of them."

"What's wrong?" Li Jie's eyes lit up when he heard my words, and he curiously moved closer to me. He loves gossip, especially gossip about me.

Yesterday, seeing me entangled with so many beautiful women, I was incredibly envious. Now, seeing how annoyed I am because of it, I've become quite interested. I can't wait to get closer and listen carefully, hoping to hear about my troubles so I can find some amusement in them.

I didn't want to tell him these things, but he kept asking, and I was also a bit annoyed, so I told him about what happened today. At the end, I couldn't help but sigh, "Thank goodness I ran fast, otherwise we would have been fighting again today."

Li Jie stared at me, speechless, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You mean two beautiful women fought over you?"

"Yes, that's right." I nodded seriously.

Li Jie stared into my eyes, speechless for a moment.

He had to deliver meals to Zhang Cuihua for a whole year before he could win her over, but Dazhuang was being fought over by two girls, even to the point of a physical altercation. This contrast left him completely baffled.

He suddenly felt like talking to himself. He had originally wanted to hear about Dazhuang's unhappiness to cheer himself up, but now he felt even more unhappy.

He ignored Dazhuang and started reading the newspaper.

Today was the afternoon shift, and there were only four of us on duty. One guarded the main gate, Li Jie and I patrolled the factory area, and the other security guard with a receding hairline was holed up in the security room. This guy was Zhou Zhengtao's subordinate; I'd seen him sleeping all the time since I first joined the company. I pushed open the door and, good heavens, he was still sleeping. He's always carrying a baton and just slacking off by sleeping; he seems to never stop sleeping.

I wonder if he's out stealing chickens or petting dogs every night.

I don't tolerate this kind of person. I picked up the storybook next to me and slammed it heavily on the table, which immediately woke him up.

He looked around groggily, and when he saw that I had woken him, his face immediately darkened, and his tone was somewhat annoyed: "What are you doing?"

I glanced at him indifferently: "Get up, go on patrol."

He glared at me fiercely, intending to lie down and continue sleeping, but I kicked him, making him jump up in pain. He stared at me with wide eyes, ready to fight, but after looking me up and down at my tall and burly figure, he finally chickened out, not daring to say a word, and slunk away towards the door.

He walked out of the security room feeling frustrated, and when he caught sight of Li Jie watching the drama unfold with an air of schadenfreude, his anger flared even more, and he glared fiercely at Li Jie.

Li Jie heard everything we were making inside. When he saw me come out, he whispered to me, "Dazhuang, you not only woke him up but also kicked him. Aren't you afraid he'll tell the captain?"

Tell Zhou Zhengtao on his behalf? I waved my hand: "What's there to be afraid of? It's his problem if he sleeps at work."

Speaking of this, something occurred to me, and I turned to look at Li Jie: "He sleeps all the time at work? What does he do at night?"

Li Jie shrugged: "How would I know what he does at night? Anyway, he sleeps soundly during the day every day."

At this point, he turned his head closer to me and whispered, "By the way, this guy has a criminal record."

"What did he do?" I asked Li Jie, puzzled.

Seeing my curious expression, Li Jie lowered his voice and said, "He was imprisoned for two years for stealing."
