Soul Returns to Hong Kong: From Tailor Shop to Richest Woman
Chapter 233 Mother and Daughter are safe
Lin Ying thought that made sense: "I'll ask now."
She picked up the living room phone and dialed the private hospital's hotline; after listening to her, the on-duty nurse politely asked her to wait a moment and quickly transferred her to the head of the obstetrics and gynecology department.
"Hello Ms. Lin; I understand your family's concerns about your safety, but we do not recommend arranging a home delivery."
Lin Ying asked, "The hospital doesn't provide this service?"
"No. A normal delivery may seem stable, but unexpected situations can occur at any time during childbirth. These could include maternal bleeding, changes in fetal position, or breathing problems in the baby. If you don't have complete emergency equipment, a blood bank, or a surgical team at home, you're in a difficult situation."
Lin Lanying stood to the side, her face showing some tension as she listened.
Lin Ying remained relatively calm: "My prenatal checkups have always been normal, and the baby's position is correct."
"Ms. Lin, a routine prenatal checkup does not mean there will be no risks on the day of delivery. You are an important client of ours, and we cannot allow you to take unnecessary risks just for convenience. The hospital will arrange a private delivery room, surgical team, and pediatrician for you in advance. On the day of delivery, only people you allow can enter the designated area."
"After the baby is born, the anklet, name tag, and mother's information will be verified in person; we can also arrange for someone to guard outside the nursery, so you don't have to worry about the baby being given to the wrong person or anyone tampering with the baby."
After listening, Lin Ying asked, "Can family members also verify the information?"
"Yes, we will have the immediate family confirm the baby's identity before the baby leaves the delivery room; during the hospital stay, the baby's comings and goings will be registered, and the surveillance footage will be kept throughout the process."
Lin Ying nodded: "Okay, I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Ying repeated the doctor's words. Lin Fu listened and didn't insist anymore: "Indeed, it's safer to have equipment and doctors at the hospital than at home. Bring a few more people to keep watch, and make sure no one wanders off."
Lin Lanying was still worried: "Can I go into the delivery room?"
Lin Ying: "Okay, I feel at ease with Mommy here."
Wen Xu sat down next to Lin Ying and held her hand: "It's okay, we'll all be there."
Lin Ying looked at him and said, "You don't need to go into the delivery room. Just wait outside."
Wen Xu was somewhat helpless. Lin Ying had agreed to her mother's request so readily, so why couldn't she do it herself? "Can't I go in?"
Lin Ying: "What can you do inside? Hand the doctor tools? Most importantly, I can't accept you watching me give birth."
Over the next few days, Lin Lanying and He Dazhu made meticulous arrangements for receiving the Wen family.
Knowing that Wen Xu couldn't easily go to crowded places, they simply let him stay home with Lin Ying while they took Zhao Lan, Wen Guoping, and Wen Rui to see the old streets, gardens, and several quiet beaches.
Zhao Lan was initially worried about being unfamiliar with the area, but after Lin Lanying treated her to a few meals, she gradually relaxed: "Lanying, did you really make this soup?"
"Of course I cooked it. After Aying got pregnant, I even had to relearn how to control the heat."
Zhao Lan took a sip and gave a thumbs up: "No wonder Xiao Xu said that A Ying's family takes good care of her. You are a much better mother than me."
Lin Lanying was pleased to hear this: "Don't praise me. I didn't do well enough before. It's my first time being a mother, so I'm taking it slow."
Wen Xu hasn't gone out much these past few days, mostly staying at the villa with Lin Ying.
Lin Ying read documents in the morning, and he read books next to her; Lin Ying took a nap at noon, and he put his phone on silent; Lin Ying's legs ached at night, and he sat on the edge of the bed to massage her legs.
Lin Ying was a little uncomfortable at first: "Engineer Wen, stop following me around all the time; you rarely get a day off, you should do something for yourself."
Wen Xu continued working: "Spending time with you and the child is my responsibility."
Lin Ying looked at him and said, "Why are you so sweet-talking lately? Did you learn it on purpose?"
Wen Xu looked up: "You said no one can take your classes, including me; I just read a book on how to improve emotional intelligence."
Lin Ying leaned against the headboard, recalling what she had said before, and said somewhat sarcastically, "That was a reminder, not something for you to memorize and repeat."
Wen Xu: "I have a good memory."
------
After a week in Hong Kong, Wen Rui had to go back first. Before leaving, she pulled Lin Ying aside for a chat: "I can't take too much leave from work, so I have to go back to work first. If it's convenient when the baby is a month old, I'll come to see you again."
Lin Ying nodded: "You go about your business, there's no need to rush."
Wen Rui looked at her belly and laughed, "I used to think that Xiao Xu would only spend his life with experimental data; now that I see him revolving around you every day, I realize that he is not without feelings, he just hadn't met the right person before."
Lin Ying deliberately asked, "Is he really that cold and unapproachable at home?"
Wen Rui thought for a moment: "It's not that he's heartless, it's just that... when others talk at length, he only picks out the parts he wants to hear to reply."
Lin Ying immediately understood: "I've seen this before."
Wen Xu, who was standing not far away, heard the two talking about him and said, "Second Sister, your car is almost here."
Wen Rui glared at him: "I know, you don't need to rush me."
After Wen Rui left, Zhao Lan and Wen Guoping did not leave. Zhao Lan said directly to Lin Ying, "We originally planned to meet once and then go back, but you are about to give birth, and your Uncle Wen and I are not at ease going back."
Wen Guoping nodded: "We'll stay and lend a hand after the baby is born; please don't think we're a bother."
Lin Ying didn't refuse: "Then feel free to stay here. There are plenty of rooms in the house."
As July drew to a close, Lin Ying's belly grew larger and larger, and no one in the family dared to relax. The hospital's maternity bag had been prepared long ago, with documents, prenatal check-up records, baby clothes, and a small blanket all packed in a large box and placed next to the entrance.
On the night of August 1st, the villa had already quieted down; Lin Ying was half asleep when she suddenly felt a tightening sensation in her abdomen; she opened her eyes and was about to sit up when she realized something was wrong.
The bed sheet was soaked.
Wen Xu, who wasn't sleeping soundly, woke up when he heard the noise: "What's wrong?"
Lin Ying glanced at the bed sheet: "My water broke."
Wen Xu sat up, his expression changing: "Go to the hospital now?"
"Yes, call me Mommy and Daddy first."
When Wen Xu got out of bed, he had put his slippers on backwards. After a moment of chaos, the lights in the entire villa were on.
He Dazhu rushed up with his car keys in hand: "Sister, can you walk? I'll take you to the hospital!"
Lin Lanying, carrying her hospital bag, asked, "All the documents are here. Where's your phone? Aying, are you in pain?"
"Thank goodness, let's get in the car first."
Zhao Lan and Wen Guoping quickly followed. After confirming the route, the two guards each got into a car and drove off in both cars.
Sitting in the back seat, Lin Lanying held Lin Ying's hand and said, "It's alright, the doctors are here, we'll be there soon."
The hospital wasn't far away, only a fifteen-minute drive. Lin Ying had called the hospital in advance, and as soon as the car stopped, doctors and nurses were already waiting at the door with a wheelchair.
Lin Ying was taken into the delivery room, and Lin Lanying followed the nurse to change into sterile clothing. Wen Xu also wanted to go in, but Zhao Lan stopped him: "Aying said you're not allowed to go in. You wait outside."
About an hour later, the sound of a baby crying came from the delivery room; half an hour later, Lin Lanying came out carrying the baby: "Mother and daughter are safe. It's a little princess, weighing 2,700 grams. Everything went smoothly, and Aying didn't suffer too much."
She handed the child to Zhao Lan: "You guys take good care of the child; I'm going back to make some soup, and the nurse will bring Aying out later."
