Apocalypse: Zombie Elimination Expert

Chapter 30: This skin is very useful!

The evolved zombie was successfully killed, but Chen Tuo couldn't be happy at all.

He shoved the zombie off him and flipped over to grab Shu Yao's arm.

The row of teeth marks on the leather jacket was visibly deep. When the sleeves were rolled up, the magazines tied inside were also deformed and dented along with the leather jacket.

Fortunately, it didn't bite through.

Chen Tuo finally breathed a sigh of relief, slowly loosening his grip on the short axe...

Fortunately, the female zombie's motorcycle suit was sturdy enough, and there was a magazine inside to cushion it; otherwise, given the bite force of this mutated zombie, a leather suit alone might not have been enough to stop it.

If Shu Yao's arm were really bitten, he would not hesitate to dislocate that arm.

If losing an arm still doesn't prevent turning into a zombie, then you'll have to do it yourself...

Chen Tuo didn't want things to come to that, but he also didn't want to watch Shu Yao turn into an ugly zombie.

"Who the hell told you to do this?"

"Are you trying to pull this 'feeding the tiger' trick on me, you bastard?"

In just two short sentences, Chen Tuo uttered "damn it" twice, which shows just how angry he was.

Getting bitten by a zombie is no joke; it can really kill you!

On the other hand, Shu Yao rubbed her arm with a wronged expression and whispered, "I didn't think that much at the time. I just saw you getting hit by the zombie and your eyes were almost rolling back in your head. I was just thinking of saving you, so..."

Chen Tuo's face was as black as the bottom of a pot, and he stared at her for a long time without saying a word.

Shu Yao glanced at Chen Tuo and forced a smile. "Don't worry, I'm not stupid. I'm wearing a leather jacket, and I even have magazines strapped to my clothes. Zombies have flat teeth, they can't bite through them in a short time. See, I'm fine, aren't I?"

Looking at the teeth marks on Shu Yao's arm, Chen Tuo asked, "Does it hurt?"

Shu Yao shook her head. "It's okay. It only hurt a little just now, but I don't feel anything now."

Chen Tuo was speechless. "Then it's so numb he can't feel anything, right?"

Shu Yao chuckled foolishly.

Chen Tuo felt completely overwhelmed.

"The leather jacket and magazine were meant to protect you, not to let zombies bite you willingly. Luckily, there were only two rows of teeth marks from between the bites. If there had been even a drop of blood, I would have chopped off your arm without hesitation. If that wasn't enough, I would have had to kill you with my own hands."

Shu Yao pouted and lowered her head.

"No matter how critical the situation becomes in the future, I must never do anything like this again. I don't want my hard-earned companions to be fed to zombies before they even leave this building."

"Okay..."

Chen Tuo was truly at a loss with Shu Yao's attitude.

After all, she was trying to save me, and she readily admitted her mistake. To be honest, I was somewhat touched, but I also genuinely wanted to kick her a couple of times.

"You broke the three rules I set for you... You must obey my orders unconditionally at all times and never act on your own. So you must practice extra tonight as punishment!"

"Huh?" Shu Yao immediately deflated. "Okay..."

"However, there are rewards and punishments. Since you did this to save me, I will reward you."

"Really?" Shu Yao's eyes lit up again. "What reward?"

Chen Tuo revealed a meaningful smile and pointed to the evolved zombie on the ground, "That's it."

"It?" Shu Yao stared at the zombie, momentarily speechless...

……

Chen Tuo was squatting next to the zombie, fiddling with something.

On the other hand, Shu Yao, who was standing to the side, kept changing her expression.

After these few days of training, she has become completely immune to the hideous appearance of zombies. She can even smash their heads with a shovel without showing any fear.

But what Chen Tuo was doing was really beyond her tolerance, and her stomach began to churn again.

"This is the reward? I feel like this is more of a punishment than extra training..."

Chen Tuo didn't even raise his head; the dagger in his hand was slicing down along the fascia.

"Fool! This stuff is not something ordinary people can get their hands on. Don't think it's disgusting; it might save your life someday."

From the moment he took control of this evolved zombie, he knew what it was meant to do.

Although for some unknown reason, this zombie's skin and bones have become harder than those of ordinary zombies, and even its eyes and mouth are fibrous, what is certain is that its defensive capabilities are exaggerated to the extreme.

He gripped the short axe with all his might and chopped at its forehead, but only managed to leave a small gash.

With such defensive capabilities, not only would ordinary swords and axes be unable to penetrate it, Chen Tuo even doubted that some small-caliber guns with low power might not be able to pierce through it.

If we could peel it off and make it into protective gear, it would definitely be a powerful weapon against zombie bites.

It's disgusting, but in the end times, we have to make the most of everything.

We must make use of everything we can; the more security we have, the better our chances of survival.

This zombie's skin was ridiculously tough, yet it retained the suppleness of normal animal skin. It felt somewhat like cowhide, but even tougher.

Chen Tuo couldn't explain what kind of material it was, or how zombies had evolved into this state.

But who cares, as long as it works.

This leather is much tougher than a leather jacket. Once you can peel it off and sew it inside the jacket, you can completely replace the magazines and books that you use to line it.

Although the magazines weren't heavy, they felt uncomfortable being tucked into my body, affecting my movements and making me feel a bit stuffy.

If this skin could be replaced, it would greatly reduce the burden on the body and preserve the body's flexibility to the greatest extent, killing two birds with one stone!

He was worried that the skin would be difficult to handle, fearing that the flesh and blood stuck to it were too thick, and that he didn't have the experience to clean it properly. He couldn't possibly put it on his body covered in blood, could he?

But once I started using it, I found that my worries were unnecessary.

The zombies are evolving in an unknown direction, causing their eyes and mouths to become fibrotic, as well as their subcutaneous tissue.

Rather than flesh and blood, it's more like a fibrous material resembling sawdust, which can be easily separated with a gentle scrape of a knife.

And the entire skin was almost completely free of any blood or flesh.

Just take it back, wash it, and let it dry. It will look almost like a piece of cowhide, without any trace of zombie flesh or blood.

However, this doesn't mean the zombie has no blood. As long as you pierce that fibrous, mysterious substance with a knife, the zombie's characteristic thick, black blood will still ooze out.

This was the first time Chen Tuo had done this kind of work, and to be honest, he felt really uncomfortable...

……

It took a full three hours to finish.

The zombie in front of me has been torn to pieces.

Chen Tuo was not only skinning the zombie, but also studying its body structure, trying to find out why it had evolved into this way and what made it different from ordinary zombies.

The final result was...

Not sure.

It's unclear why it evolved this way.

But what is certain is that both the zombie with its superb defense and the female motorcycle zombie with speeds no different from ordinary people seem to retain the ability to feel pain.

Chen Tuo even felt that using the word "pain" to describe it was not accurate.

When Shu Yao stabbed the zombie in the ear with a screwdriver, he could clearly feel the zombie struggling more and more violently, as if it knew that it would die as soon as it was stabbed.

The way they struggled desperately in the face of death was so similar to the desperate outburst of a normal living being before death.

If it were just pain, it wouldn't look like this...

Looking at the zombies on the ground, which were already beyond dead, Chen Tuo's expression was somewhat complicated.

"Could these kinds of weird things have even evolved some kind of intelligence?"
