Apocalypse: Zombie Elimination Expert

Chapter 28: Evolving Zombies!

Humans have five senses, and in addition to these, there is a sixth sense.

This is what is commonly referred to as intuition.

Many people find this thing mysterious and inexplicable, and even regard it as the closest thing to superpowers in real life.

That's not actually the case.

From a scientific perspective, intuition often arises when the subconscious mind captures a large number of subtle clues in the surrounding environment, and after high-speed integration and processing, forms a rapid judgment that transcends the senses.

Because this kind of judgment bypasses the five senses and draws a conclusion directly from the subconscious, it often feels ethereal and unreal.

It is precisely because each person's brain is different in its sensitivity to capturing information from the surroundings that people have different levels of intuition.

Coincidentally, Chen Tuo has always been quite outstanding in this regard.

Perhaps it's a habit he developed from years of fighting practice, or perhaps it's innate; he himself can't say for sure.

But one thing is certain: intuition has helped him a lot in the game many times, so he never takes any intuition as baseless.

Although the 2204 zombie wasn't in the living room and its voice was faint, sounding like it was coming from inside the room, he still felt something was off.

After opening the door, Chen Tuo, holding a short axe, crept into the inner room, with Shu Yao following closely behind.

The closer they got to the door, the clearer the noises coming from behind it became.

It was the roar unique to zombies, but it sounded even more muffled and hoarse, as if something was stuck in their throats.

What's even stranger is that there wasn't the usual sound of zombies frantically banging on the door when they sense a human. Instead, there were muffled thuds, like heavy objects hitting the door.

The combination of all these strange elements makes it no coincidence.

"Step back a bit," Chen Tuo gestured.

Shu Yao was very obedient and quickly retreated from the hallway back to the living room.

Immediately afterwards, Chen Tuo checked his equipment.

After confirming there were no gaps in the helmet, leather jacket, and even boxing gloves, he kicked open the door and quickly took two steps back to maintain distance.

Uh--

The zombie roared and staggered as it rushed out of the room.

Upon seeing humans, it became excited and its movements became faster and faster.

Chen Tuo noticed its abnormality at a glance.

It looks similar to a regular zombie, and even its speed and state are almost the same. However, its movements always seem a little stiff for some reason, giving people a sense of sluggishness.

The eyes were not blood red, but rather a grayish color, with even the pupils barely visible, giving them a dull, artificial appearance.

Its mouth wasn't wide open, just a tiny slit, about two fingers wide, a stark contrast to the ferocious appearance of most zombies who practically open their mouths and throats to bite.

Of course, biting doesn't matter; it's just a matter of whether the bite is big or small.

Perhaps it was because their mouths were too small that the zombies' roars were not loud and sounded muffled.

Chen Tuo quickly analyzed the zombie in front of him.

Did they have any diseases or defects before they became zombies?

The prosthetic eye was used to treat blindness, which is why it didn't show the consistent blood-red color after infection.

Is it because you like to chew betel nuts, which has led to oral fibrosis?

As for why the movements are so heavy and stiff... is there something wrong with the joints?

Chen Tuo wasn't sure, but something about the zombie in front of him was off. To be on the safe side, he retreated to avoid the zombie's first attack, and then shoved the short axe behind him to take the baseball bat, which had a longer attack range.

A swing of the stick!

boom--

The zombie tilted its head to the side.

But Chen Tuo's expression froze.

This is fucking hard...

And the sound was wrong, like a stick hitting a rock!

Feeling the tingling sensation in his hands, Chen Tuo was stunned.

Although he hadn't used his full strength in that strike, he had used about 60-70% of his power. A normal zombie would have been torn to shreds on the spot, but this guy in front of him was completely unharmed.

The zombie raised its head again, its expression becoming even more ferocious, as if the previous attack had enraged it, and it pounced even more fiercely.

Chen Tuo quickly dodged.

He refused to believe it and swung the bat again while backing away.

He used all his strength in that strike!

boom--

This time the sound was louder, and the zombie reacted even more, its whole body was knocked off balance, and a tiny dent appeared on its temple.

However, Chen Tuo reacted even more strongly.

Metal baseball bats are harder than wooden baseball bats, but they also have worse cushioning; at least most of the impact force is transmitted back when hitting an object.

Simply put, the harder the object being hit, the more painful the swinger's hand will be.

That's exactly how Chen Tuo felt at that moment.

After two blows, his hand was almost numb and he couldn't feel anything.

If it weren't for the fingerless knuckles as a buffer, my entire hand would have instantly lost its strength.

Shu Yao also noticed something was wrong and raised her entrenching tool to come up.

"Brother Tuo, this zombie..."

"Don't come any closer! Back up!"

Chen Tuo's voice was even louder; this zombie was definitely not something Shu Yao could handle.

He had completely confirmed that this zombie was not an ordinary zombie.

My intuition was right; this zombie, like the motorcycle zombie I encountered before, was an anomaly!

Call them mutated zombies or evolved zombies.

In short, they are several times more threatening than ordinary zombies!

The motorcycle zombie was ridiculously fast, but this zombie in front of us had incredibly tough skin and bones, almost like it was wearing a layer of armor.

A blow from his staff, powerful enough to smash half the head of an ordinary zombie, only caused its skull to dent slightly.

At this rate, its head won't be smashed before its own hands are cracked.

Chen Tuo felt a tightness in his chest.

I didn't expect to encounter a second one of these weird things so soon.

Fortunately, as it stands, aside from its astonishing defense, its speed is not much different from that of a regular zombie. Otherwise, if it were as fast as the motorcycle zombie, it would be difficult to deal with...

Blunt weapons are no longer effective against it; a sharp weapon is necessary!

Chen Tuo threw down the baseball bat and picked up the axe again, while also taking down the long-unused sledgehammer and spear.

Chen Tuo plans to use the old methods for dealing with zombies.

Spears are used to pin down the mouth; control the enemy first, then figure out a way to break through their defenses.

Because the zombie's mouth was too small, Chen Tuo stared at it for a long time.

During this time, the zombies kept chasing them, and the man and the zombie even circled half of the living room three times.

If Shu Yao hadn't been yelled at by Chen Tuo and retreated outside beforehand, she probably would have been caught in the crossfire as well.

Finally, Chen Tuo found his opportunity at a table.

puff-

The cleaver pierced the zombie's mouth with pinpoint accuracy.

As the sound of flesh being torn apart by a sharp weapon rang out, Chen Tuo felt a surge of joy.

Just as expected, although the zombies' skin had become incredibly hard, their mouths remained normal.

If even the throat is ridiculously hard and can't be pierced, then he needs to reassess the risks.

What's the point of fighting?!

It would be better to turn around and run, close the door and lock the zombie inside, then we can simply not search this room.

but now……

As long as there is a weakness, there is an opportunity to kill it, and Chen Tuo will never let it go.

After all, this is the best opportunity to learn about this type of evolved zombie.

Under Chen Tuo's power, the zombie with its throat pierced fell backward on the spot, its entire body crashing straight to the ground.

Immediately afterwards, Chen Tuo chopped his axe at Chen Tuo's forehead.

boom--

It was that familiar sound of something hard chopping.

Although the short axe was much more effective than the baseball bat, it only scratched the skin and still couldn't cause much damage.

Chen Tuo's face darkened, and he quickly threw away the axe and drew the dagger from his waist.

I didn't bring much with me, but I had a full set of weapons!

Axes, baseball bats, spears, daggers—all kinds of weapons are available.

Chen Tuo didn't believe it. If his temples and head couldn't be smashed, how could his eyes not be pierced?

He gripped the dagger in reverse and brought it down straight!

The blade pierced the zombie's eye socket.

it works!

Chen Tuo was overjoyed, but before he could take any further action...

Click!

The spear shaft stuck in the zombie's mouth...

Broken!
