Chapter 97 Hudson Appears in Babel Tower! The Bald Squad!
Inside the Tower of Babel, a lively scene was unfolding.
In the lobby on the first floor, Hafk soldiers were making final preparations in a flurry of activity.
The red carpet stretched from the entrance all the way to the main stage.
Huge holographic screens stood on both sides, playing promotional videos for the ReLink brain-computer interface on a loop.
At the top of the tower, Rometheus stood alone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a cup of coffee, looking down at the entire city of Bakshi.
The gray-yellow buildings stood side by side.
At the edge of the horizon, a museum stands prominently in the heart of Baksh.
He took a sip of coffee, his gaze falling on several black dots in the distant sky, where several helicopters were approaching from different directions.
The lead aircraft was slightly larger, painted in dark gray, with open doors on both sides revealing the leather seats inside.
Rometheus narrowed his eyes and saw a figure bending over and standing at the door of the helicopter.
The man was wearing a well-tailored military green striped suit, his blond hair was combed back into a neat slicked-back style, and he had a tall and upright figure.
Hudson!
Rometheus slowly curved his lips into a smile, put down his coffee cup, and tapped his fingertips lightly twice on the window frame.
A month is neither a long nor a short time.
But Hudson's departure from Babel during that month caused quite a stir.
He first integrated his father's manufacturing company, taking over all of its production lines;
Following that, he designed a melee weapon codenamed "Dark Star," which won the annual Technology Innovation Award.
What surprised the higher-ups even more was that he also submitted a preliminary plan for "dark star fuel"!
A new type of propellant with an energy density far exceeding that of rocket fuel!
If mass production is successfully achieved, Hafk will experience a qualitative leap!
All of this happened within just a few weeks of him officially taking over the company and submitting the merger agreement to Hafk.
Hudson brought his entire company to join Hafk, instantly becoming one of Hafk's largest shareholders.
Rometheus stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Hudson's helicopter slowly land on the helipad at the top of the Tower of Babel.
He placed the coffee cup on the windowsill, straightened the collar of his white coat, and turned to walk towards the elevator.
The moment the elevator doors opened, Hudson was walking towards them from the opposite direction.
The two met in the middle of the corridor, no more than three steps apart.
"Mr. Hudson, welcome back to the Tower of Babel." Rometheus extended his hand, a smile playing on his lips.
"Dr. Rometheus, you look great. I heard the brain-computer interface project is progressing exceptionally well?" Hudson extended his hand to shake hers, his tone gentle.
"Thanks to you." Rometheus withdrew his hand.
"You integrated the entire manufacturing company in a month and brought in the Dark Star project. That's a real big move."
The elevator doors behind Hudson opened again, and three figures silently stepped out.
The three men looked exactly alike—all bald, wearing black leather jackets and sunglasses, and all with imposing builds.
They quickly moved to a position half a step behind Hudson, remaining silent like shadows.
Rometheus's gaze lingered on one of them for a moment—H-1000.
This number was assigned by Dr. Martin, who has been dead for three years.
"And who is this?" Rometheus asked, knowing the answer already.
"My security chief." Hudson turned to the side, tilting his head slightly towards the bald man.
"Code name H-1000, you can call him—Primordial."
Rometheus nodded without asking any further questions.
His gaze passed over Hudson and H-1000, landing on two other figures, H-47 and H-800, the second of the original clones.
"Interesting," Rometheus said softly, turning around and gesturing for them to proceed.
"This way, I've already had a meeting room prepared."
Four figures left along the corridor, while the remaining helicopters on the helipad slowly landed.
The hatch opened, and figures poured out.
They were all bald, wearing leather jackets and sunglasses, and looked exactly like H-1000—a veritable bald-headed squad!
......
On the other side, outside the town of Bakshi.
When Zhang Zhao landed, his knees were slightly bent, and the soles of his boots scraped a small mark on the gravel ground.
He straightened up, patted the dust off his suit sleeves, and looked up at the building that pierced the sky in the far distance.
Tower of Babel!
Even from four or five kilometers away, the oppressive feeling of that building was still clearly discernible!
The gray-white concrete exterior walls gleamed coolly in the morning light, and several helicopters could be vaguely seen circling around the top of the tower.
Gu walked over from the other side, also dressed in a well-tailored dark gray suit.
She tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ear, her gaze fixed on the direction of the Tower of Babel, and remained silent for a few seconds.
The Claw was the last to land.
She bent down, brushed the dust off her trousers, and waved to the transport plane.
Seeing this, the bee doctor nodded in response.
Only after the transport plane had left did she glance at the Tower of Babel following the gaze of the two men, then turn her head to look towards the city gate.
"Go inside and turn right, that should lead you to the Lanting Inn."
The three of them walked along the dirt road toward the north of the city.
Baksh’s main street is wider than that of Utan, and the buildings on both sides are more uniform, mostly two-story earthen-yellow buildings.
There were quite a few pedestrians on the street, and occasionally you could see patrol teams in Hafk uniforms passing by the street corner.
Lanting Hotel is located on the north side of Bakshi.
The exterior walls were painted light blue, and a faded wooden sign hung above the porch.
The green plants at the entrance were all withered, indicating that business was very poor.
Gu pushed open the door and went inside. Behind the reception desk sat an elderly man with gray hair, looking down at a book.
Hearing the door open, he looked up, his gaze sweeping over the three people in turn, then put down his book and asked in a calm tone,
"stay?"
"Three rooms, one night." Gu took out a few Haff coins from his pocket and placed them on the table. "Check out tomorrow morning."
The old man took the money, counted it, took out three keys from the drawer and placed them on the table, then picked up the book again and asked no more questions.
The three of them took the keys and went upstairs to the second floor.
The room was small but clean, and the window faced the street.
Zhang Zhao put the key on the bedside table, walked to the window, and turned his head to look south. From this angle, he could just see the upper half of the Tower of Babel.
Two soft sounds came from the corridor; it was the sound of the door in the next room closing.
Zhang Zhao sat down on the edge of the bed and relaxed his body, leaning back in the chair.
Relink brain-computer interface silently activates, expanding its perception range to include the entire hotel and surrounding area within its sensory network.
No abnormalities found!
He withdrew his senses, sat on the edge of the bed for a while, and then got up to draw the curtains.
Half-asleep, a very soft knock on the door woke him up.
Zhang Zhao opened his eyes, and the Relink brain-computer interface had already activated its perception before his consciousness—there was Gu outside the door, his heart rate was stable, and there were no abnormalities.
He sat up, walked to the door, and opened it.
Gu stood in the corridor, now dressed in dark gray casual clothes.
She was holding a small, black device that looked like an old-fashioned radio.
"Hafk sent a message." Gu slipped past him into the room, placed the device on the table, and pressed a button on its side.
"The press conference will start at 9:00 AM tomorrow. The GTI representative will be seated in the middle of the first row."
She paused.
"Time is not a problem. We'll go ahead of time. You and Hawthorn can wander around, and I'll go talk to Rometheus."
Gu put the equipment away, her gaze lingering on him for a moment.
"Memorize as many passageways, entrances and exits, and safety points as you can for tomorrow's meeting."
