Chapter 21 Company Commander, come quick! There's something good in the truck! [Please add to y

Three trucks drove along the road into the valley.

The driver of the first truck was clearly familiar with the road; he only slowed down slightly when going around the bend and then continued driving forward.

The second and third vehicles followed behind, maintaining a distance of about twenty meters.

The truck's headlights swept across the steep slopes on both sides of the road, beams of light passing over the bushes, but the Independent Company soldiers lying in ambush remained motionless, not revealing themselves.

The first truck drove to the sharp bend on the east side of the highway.

Wei Dayong stared at the truck, watching it slow down and the front of the truck begin to turn.

Soon, all three trucks entered the ambush zone.

Wei Dayong pulled the trigger.

The submachine gun spat out a string of fire as the bullet struck the windshield of the third truck, shattering the glass and sending shards flying everywhere.

Gunshots are the signal.

Ma Fenghuai's heavy machine gun opened fire.

The Type 92 heavy machine gun emitted a muffled rumble, swallowing thirty rounds of ammunition. The bullets swept towards the cab of the first truck.

The bullet pierced the car door and shattered the window. The driver's body twitched a few times in the driver's seat, then slumped onto the steering wheel and remained motionless.

The truck lost control, veered off course, and crashed into a dirt slope beside the road, blocking most of the road.

On the north slope, Hou Yue's two light machine guns opened fire simultaneously.

Bullets swept towards the cargo bed of the second truck, and before the Japanese soldiers standing inside could jump out, a large number of them were shot down.

Someone tumbled out of the truck bed, fell to the ground, and before he could get up, he was hit in the back by a subsequent bullet.

On the south slope, Wang Xiao's main force also opened fire.

Three light machine guns swept the third truck from the south slope, bullets hitting the truck bed and sending wood chips flying.

The Japanese soldiers in the truck bed were in chaos. Some jumped out, some lay motionless in the truck bed, and some tried to set up a machine gun to fight back, but as soon as the machine gun was set up, the gunner was hit in the head by a bullet.

Wei Dayong changed a magazine, stood up from behind the big rock, and started firing at the Japanese soldiers on the road.

Five or six Japanese soldiers jumped out from behind the third truck, carrying rifles and rushing towards the north slope, trying to seize a favorable position on the slope.

Wei Dayong fired a burst of bullets at them, hitting the two soldiers at the front in the chest, who fell backward.

The three soldiers behind him lay on the ground and raised their rifles to fire in Wei Dayong's direction.

The bullet struck a large rock next to Wei Dayong, sending up a spray of stone dust.

Wei Dayong ducked back behind the rock, pulled a grenade from his waist, pulled the pin, tapped it on the rock, and then threw it toward the three Japanese soldiers.

The grenade flew more than 30 meters through the air and landed beside them.

An explosion.

Two Japanese soldiers were blown up from the ground and then crashed back down.

The last one, his face covered in blood, struggled to get up, but was hit by a burst of light machine gun fire from Hou Yue on the north slope. His body twitched a few times and then stopped moving.

The Japanese soldiers on the second truck suffered the heaviest casualties; almost everyone in the truck bed was wiped out by Hou Yue's crossfire.

The remaining seven or eight soldiers jumped out of the truck bed, hid behind the truck, and used the truck as cover to fire at the north slope.

Hou Yue shouted to the soldiers behind him, "Grenades, who's going to throw them behind the truck?"

A soldier pulled a grenade from his waist, checked the distance, and shook his head.

"Platoon leader, it's too far, I can't reach it."

"No, I can do it myself!"

Hou Yue took the grenade, stood up, pulled the pin, took two steps, and then threw the grenade with all his might.

The grenade arced through the air, flew over the truck, and landed on the ground behind it.

Two Japanese soldiers saw the grenade land beside them and screamed as they tried to run away, but before they could take a step, the grenade exploded.

The debris struck the truck chassis with a clanging sound.

Several screams came from behind the truck, then the gunfire stopped.

Hou Yue lay back behind the rock, panting heavily.

"Who still has grenades? This feeling is so exciting!"

At this moment, the Japanese soldiers on the first truck were pinned down by Ma Fenghuai's heavy machine gun and could not lift their heads.

The truck crashed into the embankment, its front end deformed. The driver died in the cab, while an officer in the passenger seat pushed open the door, rolled out, and crawled backwards on the ground.

Ma Fenghuai saw him, turned his gun around, and fired a burst at him.

The bullet hit the ground beside him, kicking up a cloud of dust.

The officer was so frightened that he cowered on the ground, too afraid to move.

"Ma Fenghuai, don't just shoot one car, sweep the second one!" Wei Dayong shouted to Ma Fenghuai.

Ma Fenghuai turned his gun and opened fire on the second truck.

The machine gun bullets pierced through the wooden planks of the truck bed and hit the Japanese soldiers hiding behind the truck.

Three more soldiers fell down with screams.

Most of the Japanese soldiers on the third truck had been killed or wounded. Less than ten soldiers jumped out of the truck bed and ran west along the road, trying to escape the ambush.

Wei Dayong saw them and shouted to Wang Xiao on the south slope, "Wang Xiao, someone's trying to escape!"

Wang Xiao stood up, holding a Type 38 rifle, and aimed at the Japanese soldier running in the lead.

Gunshots rang out, and the soldier was shot in the back, falling forward with his face hitting the ground.

Wang Xiao pulled the bolt, and the spent cartridge case jumped out of the ejection port. He then loaded the next bullet and aimed at the second target.

Another gunshot rang out.

The second soldier clutched his waist and fell to the ground, rolling around and screaming in agony.

The soldiers in the row raised their guns and opened fire on the fleeing Japanese soldiers.

More than a dozen fleeing Japanese soldiers were all shot down on the road in less than half a minute.

Wei Dayong stood up from behind the big rock, picked up his submachine gun, and charged toward the second truck.

There were three or four Japanese soldiers still alive behind the truck. When they saw Wei Dayong rushing over, one of them raised his pistol to shoot.

Wei Dayong fired a short burst, and three bullets hit his chest.

His body went limp, the pistol fell to the ground, and he leaned against the truck tire, slowly sliding down.

The remaining two Japanese soldiers threw down their rifles and ran away.

Wei Dayong chased after them and fired shots into their backs.

The two people fell down at the same time.

Wei Dayong ran to the first truck, where the officer lying on the ground was still there.

He crouched down, grabbed the officer by the collar, and turned him over.

The officer's face was covered in blood, his eyes were fixed on Wei Dayong, and he was muttering something in Chinese.

Wei Dayong doesn't understand Japanese and has no intention of listening to it.

He raised his submachine gun and pressed the muzzle against the officer's chest.

The gunshot rang out, the officer's body jolted violently, and then he remained completely still.

The gunfire on the highway gradually subsided.

Soldiers from the Independent Company rushed down the earthen slopes on both sides and began clearing the battlefield.

Ma Fenghuai carried a heavy machine gun as he walked over from the eastern position. When he saw the scene on the highway, he grinned.

"Company commander, this battle was even more exhilarating."

Wei Dayong handed the submachine gun in his hand to the soldier next to him and glanced at the road.

Three trucks lay paralyzed on the highway, their bodies riddled with bullet holes.

More than 100 Japanese soldiers were all killed; not a single one survived.

Hou Yue jumped down from the back of the second truck, holding a wooden box in his hands.

"Company commander, come quick, there's something good in the truck."
