Chapter 12 Unleashing Unparalleled Power, Defeated in a Single Battle [Please Add to Favorites]

Wei Dayong tightened the straps of his submachine gun and then touched the hand grenade at his waist.

Then he crouched down and slipped out of the grove of trees all by himself.

The searchlight on the top of the pillbox swept across the other side, and Wei Dayong took advantage of those few seconds to rush to the front of the barbed wire.

He lay on the ground, pulled out a pair of wire cutters from his waist, and carefully cut off the bottom wire.

The wire made a slight creaking sound. Wei Dayong stopped and waited a few seconds to make sure no one heard it.

He continued cutting the second and third strands.

The cut opening was just big enough for one person to crawl through.

Wei Dayong put away the wire cutters and crawled through the gap.

His feet sank almost silently onto the ground in the backyard of the pillbox.

The back wall of the first floor of the pillbox is right in front of us.

The small window was about two meters off the ground, and light shone through it, mixed with the sounds of Japanese soldiers talking.

Wei Dayong groped his way along the wall to the window, slowly straightened up, and glanced inside.

The first floor of the pillbox was a large open space with a table in the middle, around which several Japanese soldiers sat.

On the table were several cans of food and a bottle of sake. A Japanese soldier was drinking sake, while another Japanese soldier next to him was laughing and saying something.

A row of rifles leaned against the wall.

Wei Dayong counted the Japanese soldiers in the room; there were exactly thirteen.

One was sleeping against the wall, another was looking at a map, and the rest were drinking and chatting.

He pulled out six grenades from his waist, placing four beside him and holding one in each hand.

He had studied this grenade in detail that afternoon. The body was cylindrical, and the fuse tube was on the side. Before use, the safety pin had to be removed, and then the grenade had to be tapped on a hard object to ignite the fuse.

Wei Dayong pulled out the safety pins of two grenades and knocked the grenades against the brick edge of the windowsill.

The fuse was lit, and wisps of white smoke rose from it.

He didn't throw it in immediately, but waited for two seconds.

The fuse of the Type 97 grenade burns for about four to five seconds. Waiting two seconds before throwing it can reduce the opponent's reaction time.

Two seconds later, Wei Dayong threw two grenades through the window.

The grenade landed under the table and rolled around once.

"Baka! Enemies!"

The Japanese soldiers inside the house cried out in alarm, but before they could react, the grenade exploded.

With a loud bang, a burst of fire shot out of the window on the first floor of the pillbox.

Shards and dust flew out of the window, shards of glass scattered all over the floor.

Meanwhile, Wei Dayong had already followed the same method and thrown in the remaining four grenades!

After throwing the grenade, Wei Dayong drew his pistol from his waist and went around to the side door of the pillbox.

The side door wasn't closed properly, so he kicked it open and rushed inside.

Six hand grenades are incredibly effective in a confined space!

The scene inside the house was in complete chaos.

The table was blown over, and several Japanese soldiers lay in pools of blood, some still convulsing.

The Japanese soldier who was sleeping against the corner of the wall was blown off his bed, covered in blood, and was struggling to reach for his gun.

Wei Dayong raised his hand and shot him in the back of the head, and his head tilted to the side and he didn't move.

The Japanese soldier looking at the map was quite far from the explosion point. He was knocked to the ground by the shockwave, blood streaming from his ears, but he still struggled to limp away.

Wei Dayong chased after him and fired two shots into his back.

There were still two Japanese soldiers on the ground who weren't quite dead. One was clutching his stomach and screaming in agony, while the other was crawling on the ground with his leg blown off.

Wei Dayong walked over and fired a shot at each of them.

In less than ten seconds, all thirteen Japanese soldiers on the first floor of the pillbox were wiped out.

Just then, gunshots rang out in the front yard.

The puppet soldiers on duty heard the explosion from the pillbox and jumped up from their stools, grabbing their guns and running towards the pillbox.

Halfway there, I heard a burst of gunfire coming from the front as well.

Ma Fenghuai fired a burst of light machine gun at the front door of the pillbox, with most of the bullets hitting the door frame.

The puppet troops were so frightened that they quickly lay down on the ground.

"There are enemies!"

"Where to shoot?"

The front yard was in complete chaos.

Wei Dayong rushed out of the side door of the pillbox and fired two shots into the front yard, extinguishing two lanterns hanging on the wall.

The light in the courtyard suddenly dimmed.

The two puppet soldiers on the top of the pillbox were so frightened by the explosion below that they could barely hold their guns steady.

The dozing puppet soldier woke up and scrambled towards the stairwell.

The puppet soldier with the gun shouted down, "What's going on? What's going on?"

No one answered him.

Wei Dayong rushed up to the second floor of the pillbox, and bumped into the puppet soldier with a gun on the stairs.

When the puppet soldier saw Wei Dayong's Japanese combat uniform, he was stunned for a moment. Before he could even raise his gun, Wei Dayong grabbed him by the collar and threw him down the stairs.

The puppet soldier tumbled down to the first floor, hit the back of his head on the steps, and immediately passed out.

There was one puppet soldier left on the top of the pillbox, huddled behind a searchlight.

Wei Dayong, with his keen eyesight, had already spotted his location. He rushed to the top of the watchtower and punched him in the temple, knocking the man unconscious.

At this moment, the soldiers that Wei Dayong brought also rushed out from behind to help clear out the stubbornly resisting enemy.

For a time, shouts of fighting and killing filled the stronghold.

The searchlight was still spinning, its light sweeping across the front yard.

By the light, one could see that more than sixty puppet soldiers were either running out of the bungalows, lying in the yard, or looking for cover.

Ma Fenghuai's machine gun was still firing in bursts from the front.

Zhou Huaiyuan led the soldiers of the second and third platoons to lie outside the barbed wire fence, firing their guns and shouting.

"Surrender and you will not be killed!"

"Put down your weapons!"

"Treat prisoners of war well!"

The puppet troops were already in a panic, and hearing these shouts made them even more panicked.

Wei Dayong stood on the top of the pillbox and saw the puppet soldiers running towards the back door.

He picked up his submachine gun from the top of the pillbox and fired a burst of bullets toward the back door.

The bullets struck the back door panel, sending splinters of wood flying.

The puppet soldiers were so frightened that they slammed on the brakes and turned around to run back.

One of them was running too fast and tripped, falling flat on his face.

Just then, the three prisoners rushed out of the bungalow in the front yard.

Plans can't keep up with changes. Wei Dayong charged ahead alone and fought too fiercely, while the puppet troops were so incompetent that they didn't even have a chance to put on an act!

Old Wu raised his pistol and fired two shots into the air, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Stop shooting! Stop shooting!"

He ran to the middle of the courtyard and shouted at the puppet troops who were still trying to resist, "All the Japanese are dead! Put down your guns! Put them all down, you sons of bitches!"

The young prisoner also shouted, "Put down your guns! The Japanese devils are all dead! All dead!"

The last person, seeing Wei Dayong display his prowess, also made up his mind.

He ran up to a puppet army platoon leader who was still holding a gun, grabbed the barrel of his gun, and pressed it down.

"Platoon Leader Liu, stop firing! The Japanese are all dead! If we keep fighting, we'll all die here!"

The puppet army platoon leader paused for a moment, then looked up at the pillbox.

As expected, no Japanese soldiers appeared.

The puppet army platoon leader hesitated for a moment, then threw his gun on the ground.

"Brothers, put down your guns!"

With the platoon leader taking the lead, the remaining puppet troops gradually threw away their guns.

The sound of guns hitting the ground echoed through the courtyard.

Wei Dayong walked down from the top of the watchtower, went out through the side gate of the watchtower, and stood in the middle of the courtyard.

Soldiers from all three platoons of the Independent Company poured in, completely surrounding the front yard of the stronghold.

Ma Fenghuai, carrying a light machine gun, walked at the very back and couldn't help but laugh when he saw the scene in the courtyard.

"Good heavens, I've never fought a battle this fast!"
