A sophomore in college starts by getting a marriage certificate with a female CEO.

"Gift?"

Lu Yang was taken aback for a moment, then signed for the package and carried it inside.

Seven boxes, of various sizes, were piled up in the entryway.

Lu Yang squatted down and opened the first one.

It is a tea set.

The packaging is exquisite, with the brand's logo printed on the box.

Lu Yang recognized the brand.

It doesn't matter if you don't recognize it, because there's a receipt on the side of the box with the price clearly stated.

288,000.

Lu Yang stopped.

He dismantled the second one.

A silk scarf.

He didn't recognize the brand, but the quality of the packaging box made it look expensive.

Turn it over and you'll find the price tag.

Thirty thousand.

The third box.

A bottle of wine.

Lu Yang picked it up and looked at the label. He didn't recognize the letters, but he searched for them online.

Ninety-nine thousand.

He stopped dismantling it.

Lu Yang stood up and looked at Li Xixue: "How much did you spend on these things last night?"

Li Xixue thought for a moment, then shook her head: "I didn't calculate it carefully."

"About?"

"Maybe... several hundred thousand?"

Lu Yang rubbed his temples.

Hundreds of thousands...

To be honest, his grandmother had never seen anything worth hundreds of thousands of yuan placed in front of her in her entire life.

"These are not allowed," Lu Yang said.

Li Xixue frowned: "Why?"

"Too expensive."

"Shouldn't we prepare to look presentable for our first official visit?"

Lu Yang looked at the pile of boxes on the ground, then at Li Xixue.

"Being decent is fine, but your level of decentness... is a bit too much."

"My grandmother has lived in her hometown her whole life. If you send her a tea set worth 280,000 yuan, wouldn't she treat it like an ancestor? Oh no, even my ancestors couldn't afford such an expensive tea set."

Li Xixue thought about it and it seemed to make sense.

"...What should we do then?"

"Change."

"Change to what?"

Lu Yang thought for a moment: "I'll just go downstairs to the supermarket and buy some fruit."

Li Xixue stood there, pinching her fingers twice on the hem of her dress.

She is not ignorant of reason.

From childhood to adulthood, this has always been the default standard for her when going out to do errands, give gifts, or discuss business.

Because in her circle, giving someone a cheap gift is considered disrespectful.

But Lu Yang's home is different.

Giving someone an expensive gift can actually put pressure on them.

She actually knew this principle, but she was used to a different way of life and couldn't change it in a short time.

"What should we do with these?"

Li Xixue glanced at the box on the ground.

"Refund."

"...Full refund?"

Full refund.

Li Xixue looked somewhat unwilling.

She spent a lot of time and effort choosing this last night.

Now, a single sentence will get you a full refund.

Isn't this a waste of effort?

Lu Yang noticed this and added, "The thought is what counts; my family doesn't care about these things."

At this time.

The doorbell rang again.

Lu Yang went over and opened the door.

A young man in a yellow robe was standing at the entrance, carrying a large, white, square box with a line of French letters printed on it, which looked rather high-end.

"Hello, please sign for this three-tiered custom fondant cake."

Lu Yang stared at the box for a moment.

Then, he turned to look at Li Xixue.

Li Xixue was looking down at her phone, without raising her head.

"The cake has arrived? Just leave it at the door."

Lu Yang asked, "How much is this cake?"

Li Xixue casually stated a number: "Eight thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight."

"..."

Lu Yang looked at the cake box, then at Li Xixue, and his mouth twitched.

An eight thousand dollar cake.

Is this cake made of gold, or are the egg pieces made of gold?

"Let's cancel it too."

How do I return the cake?

Li Xixue finally raised her head.

Lu Yang thought for a moment.

Right.

Cakes are food items and cannot be returned.

"Then let's keep it."

Lu Yang thought for a moment: "Take the cake, and get a full refund for everything else."

To be honest, compared to the previous gifts, the cake was relatively inexpensive.

Li Xixue responded with an "oh," without objecting.

Lu Yang glanced at the cake box again: "Just don't mention the price later."

"I'm not stupid."

The two men resealed the seven boxes.

Li Xixue stood in the entryway with her bag in hand, looking down at the 198 yuan knitted sweater she was wearing.

Although the price wasn't high, the feeling of wearing it was amazing...

It's not that bad.

"Let's go."

Lu Yang came over carrying a cake box.

"Wait a moment."

"What's wrong now?"

How should I style my hair?

Lu Yang glanced at her.

Her hair was loose, with bangs that reached just to her eyebrows and wispy strands falling across her cheeks.

"Just leave it loose."

"Wearing casual clothes isn't very formal, is it?"

"Come to my house for dinner, no need for formalities."

Li Xixue hesitated for a moment, then turned and went into the bathroom.

When she came out, her hair was tied in a low ponytail, the same hairstyle she had at the company yesterday.

Clean and neat.

But something is missing.

Lu Yang stared at her.

Li Xixue felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze: "What?"

"Let your hair down."

"Didn't you just say that we could just leave it loose?"

"I've changed my mind."

"..."

Li Xixue pursed her lips, took off the hair tie again, and let her hair down.

"Satisfied?"

Lu Yang nodded.

I can't quite explain why, but when her hair is down, she looks much gentler.

Not so aggressive.

The two people went out the door.

We arrived at the parking lot.

The problem is coming.

The problem now is with the car.

The two stood at the garage entrance and glanced at the cars parked inside.

Next to the garage, there was a pink Porsche.

Even the cheapest one is a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

If you drive any of these cars out, when you get to your hometown street, it'll look like an alien spaceship has landed.

They might even call the police on the spot.

"How about... we take a taxi?"

Lu Yang suggested.

Li Xixue glanced at him.

Should I take a taxi?

The president of Xueyu Group took a taxi to meet his in-laws?

"No," Li Xixue refused.

Lu Yang thought for a moment: "Which car should we drive?"

Li Xixue's gaze swept over the three cars, finally settling on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

"This one is the most understated."

Lu Yang glanced at the car.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Low key?

"Let's try a different approach."

Lu Yang took out his phone, opened the ride-hailing app, and called a car.

Li Xixue opened her mouth.

"What's this called?"

"That's called being down-to-earth."

Ten minutes later.

A black BYD was parked at the entrance of the residential area.

Lu Yang and Li Xixue had just sat down in the back row with the cake in hand.

"Hey young man, taking your girlfriend back to your hometown today?"

Lu Yang glanced at the driver.

He knew the driver.

Isn't this the same ride-hailing driver who took him and Li Xixue to see the stars before?

This is too much of a coincidence.

The driver glanced at the rearview mirror again.

"That lady from last time?"

Lu Yang hummed in agreement, offering no further explanation.

Li Xixue sat in the back row with her hands on her knees and her back straight.

The driver chuckled: "I remember the time you went stargazing, Miss. You were probably drunk, weren't you? I saw you in the rearview mirror when you were on your back."
