The village beauty and me!

Chapter 64 has a somewhat eerie atmosphere.

Chen Huan had never understood why this wild boar, which had lived for many years, would attack the two of them for no reason.

Logically speaking, the older an animal is, the smarter it is, and the less timid it is. This one in front of us is completely unconventional.

He thought it was probably related to the wound on the wild boar's belly.

Looking at that wound, it was clearly only recently inflicted; the wound hadn't even fully scabbed over yet, but its shape and size were shocking.

"It's like... like being scratched by some animal's claws." Chen Huan subconsciously made a tiger claw shape with his hand and pressed it against it.

But soon I realized it didn't seem right.

If it were a ferocious wild beast like a tiger or leopard, that wild boar would probably have a large chunk of flesh torn from its belly.

Although the wound was large and deep, it was clear that the animal's claws were relatively sharp and thin.

"A fox!" Chen Huan came to this conclusion for no apparent reason.

Then, for no apparent reason, a chill ran through my body.

He subconsciously looked up at a certain spot ahead, only to see a fluffy, reddish thing flash by.

"Damn, is that the big fox?" Chen Huan thought of the thing that had disturbed his cultivation last night.

"A coincidence, perhaps?"

"That big fox had a grudge against this wild boar, and after injuring it, it drove it insane."

"Did Zhao Jingjing and I just happen to end up here?" Chen Huan tried to explain the strange things that happened to him today.

"What are you muttering about?"

"You scared me to death just now, thank goodness you reacted quickly." Zhao Jingjing's face was still a little pale, and she came closer at this moment, sighing repeatedly.

"How dare you say that?"

"If it weren't for my strength, we would both have been gored by this wild boar," Chen Huan said sarcastically.

Zhao Jingjing brushed a strand of hair from her forehead, slightly embarrassed. "Who told you to always joke with me? I never expected to encounter such a big wild boar."

"Such a big one, it must be considered the king of wild boars, right?"

"Absolutely. We won't lack pork for half a month now." Chen Huan raised his hand and slit the wild boar's throat, and a thick, bloody smell accompanied by red liquid flowed out.

"You're so cruel."

"They're already dead, why bleed them out?" Zhao Jingjing kept frowning and covering her nose.

Chen Huan snorted, "I think you've gone stupid from reading too much."

"This pig is already dead. If we don't drain the blood quickly, the meat will spoil easily and taste terrible."

Zhao Jingjing chuckled twice, "You're the best, okay?"

"It's so big, shouldn't we find someone to help transport it?"

Chen Huan looked around and saw that there were quite a few readily available materials nearby.

They used a dagger to cut some thick branches, and then used some thin vines as ropes to quickly build a simple trailer.

They were now on high ground, and going back was downhill. With the simple trailer and Chen Huan's strength, they didn't need anyone's help at all.

Zhao Jingjing watched in surprise as Chen Huan resolved various troubles, her beautiful eyes once again revealing admiration.

"What's wrong? Are you particularly admiring of me now?" Chen Huan teased without turning his head.

Zhao Jingjing gritted her teeth, "Stop being so conceited. I think you're just lucky."

"If I hadn't been there to distract the wild boar, you would have been taken down long ago."

Chen Huan was too lazy to argue any further. He had gathered enough herbs and it was getting late, so he simply went back to the village.

"Alright, that's the end of today's work. I'll transfer your wages to you in a bit." Chen Huan parked the tricycle at the village entrance.

Zhao Jingjing jumped out of the car, opened her mouth, and was about to speak when Chen Huan revved the engine and sped away.

The billowing smoke and dust choked Zhao Jingjing, causing her to cough.

Stomping his foot and complaining, "What an rude guy!"

On the way home, many villagers saw the wild boar in Chen Huan's car and looked at it with surprise and envy, and kept talking about it.

When they arrived home, Li Chunlan and Zhao Liping were both incredibly surprised to see such a large wild boar.

"Chen Huan, you're amazing! I've never seen a wild boar like this in my entire life."

"How did you catch it?" Zhao Liping praised her immediately.

Li Chunlan was a little worried about whether Chen Huan had been injured, so she quickly turned around and checked him over.

They were relieved to find nothing unusual.

"A mere wild boar is nothing to worry about."

"Let's tidy up in a bit, we'll have a barbecue tonight," Chen Huan said with a smug smile.

Zhao Liping muttered, "The three of us can't finish it even in a month."

"It's a pity there's no refrigerator; we can't store this meat."

Chen Huan calmly replied, "I'll go to town tomorrow and buy one. It's time to add some decent furniture to the house."

The women in the countryside are hardworking, so the tasks of processing offal and butchering pork were directly handed over to Li Chunlan and Zhao Liping.

Miao Cuihua from next door also came over to help.

Chen Huan doesn't need to worry about these things at all.

After washing his face, he planned to rest for a while before continuing to refine the golden elixir.

I threw two more into the pond when I passed by earlier; we need to replenish this stuff regularly.

After returning to the room, I realized that I hadn't paid Zhao Jingjing's salary yet.

He immediately took out his phone, intending to transfer 100 yuan.

But then he changed his mind and returned the medical expenses he had previously received, giving a total of six hundred.

Zhao Jingjing sent a thank you emoji to the boss and readily paid the bill.

Then they asked what time I would start work tomorrow.

"This girl, she's gotten addicted to working?" Chen Huan chuckled.

He then replied, "See you by the river at six tomorrow morning."

The other party responded with an "OK" gesture.

We were chatting when we suddenly heard a very urgent braking sound from outside.

Then came a burst of extremely violent cursing, "Li Chunlan, you don't actually think that our matter is over, do you?"

"Where's the kid who beat me up that day? Hand him over right now, or you're in big trouble!"

Chen Huan immediately ran out.

Two bread trucks and a pickup truck were parked at the entrance of the yard, completely blocking their house.

There were a lot of people standing around the car, probably more than a dozen.

The leader, with one hand wrapped in bandages and a bruised and swollen face, was threatening Li Chunlan at that moment.

Li Chunlan was so frightened that her face turned pale and she couldn't speak. Fortunately, Zhao Liping and Miao Cuihua were there to support her, otherwise she probably would have fallen to the ground.

"Zhang Mazi, come at me if you dare!" Chen Huan had already run to the door while he was speaking.

He then reached out and blocked the three women behind him.

He turned around and said, "Go back inside, don't worry about anything, and don't call the police."

Zhang Mazi glared fiercely at Chen Huan, snorted, and said, "You're quite sensible, aren't you? You know that if you call the police, I'll retaliate even more viciously, right?"

Chen Huan grinned. "No, I'm afraid that if the police come, I won't be able to beat them up properly."

"You bastards, you've got some nerve."
