Zombie World: Starting as an apprentice of the Thunder King

Chapter 49 Lin Bei: Little 2, this Daoist master wants to have a big meal!

Lin Bei's expression immediately turned serious. A cultivator's premonition never appears without reason, especially for a powerful person like Madana, whose perception is many times stronger than his.

"Sister Na, is something wrong?" Lin Bei asked in a low voice.

Madanna shook her head, turning her gaze away from the north of the city and continuing forward. "I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just felt a strange, eerie aura over there, which vanished in a flash."

"A demonic aura?"

"It's somewhat similar, but not quite the same!" Madonna frowned. "Let's go, take a look around first, and then decide."

The two strolled around the town. Ye Family Town was indeed bustling, more lively than the several county towns they had passed through before.

The shops on both sides of the main street are lined up one after another, selling all kinds of things.

The street was bustling with people, and shouts of vendors rose and fell. Lin Bei walked up to a stall selling candied hawthorns, bought a skewer, took a bite, and found it to be sweet and sour, which tasted pretty good.

"Sister Na, want a skewer?"

Madonna glanced at him and shook her head. "You eat it yourself."

Lin Bei took another bite and mumbled, "This town seems pretty normal, nothing seems out of the ordinary."

Madana didn't speak, but glanced again towards the north of the city.

Lin Bei noticed her movement and followed her gaze.

In the north of the city, there is a cluster of old houses with blue bricks and gray tiles. They look quite old. The largest house in the cluster has two flagpoles standing in front of it, which looks like the ancestral home of a wealthy family.

"Is that the Ye family's ancestral home over there? The vendor mentioned earlier that Master Ye should live there," Lin Bei said while eating.

Madana hummed in agreement and looked away. "It's getting late, let's talk about it when we get back!"

On the way back, the two looked around carefully but still found nothing. The people on the street were all normal, some doing business, some chatting, and no one showed any abnormality.

But it was precisely in this peaceful atmosphere that Madonna felt increasingly uneasy.

She clearly sensed the demonic aura, though only for a moment, but she couldn't be mistaken. However, when she probed again, the aura seemed to have evaporated, leaving not a trace.

"Let's go back to the inn." Madana turned and walked towards the inn!

Lin Bei swallowed the last bite of the candied hawthorn and followed behind her.

Back at the inn, it was already dark. Lin Bei went straight to the lobby, plopped down, and picked up the menu to order.

"It's been so long since I've had a proper meal!"

"Waiter, bring me all your restaurant's signature dishes: braised pork, sweet and sour fish, roast chicken, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, three-delicacy soup, and a pot of good wine."

The waiter smiled broadly as he wrote it down and then turned to go to the kitchen.

Madana sat opposite Lin Bei, looking at him with surprise.

"It's not a holiday, why are you making so many dishes?"

Lin Bei laughed heartily, poured a cup of tea for Ma Dana, then poured one for himself, and drank it down in one gulp!

"Sister Na, you have no idea. I've been either killing ghosts or fighting zombies for so long since I came out of the mountains, or lying in bed healing my wounds. Now that we've finally come to a relatively peaceful town, we definitely have to have a big meal."

"Your pills are effective, but they're not food; they're tasteless."

"So, you're the one suffering?"

Madana smiled irritably, picked up her teacup, and took a sip.

She discovered that Lin Bei, despite his seemingly carefree and unreliable demeanor, was actually meticulous and daring.

A cultivator with only the Daoist level who dares to venture out is destined to die if he encounters a slightly more powerful opponent.

His master was both highly skilled and daring, letting his disciple with a pure Yang Dao body wander around without fear of being devoured by demons and monsters.

"Aren't you afraid you'll run into something powerful again tonight?" Madonna asked.

Lin Bei patted the demon-slaying sword at his waist, then patted his bundle. "What's there to be afraid of? With Sister Na here, any demons or monsters will have to steer clear."

Madonna rolled her eyes at him. "Stop flattering me!"

He was secretly pleased, though, because few people joked and laughed freely in front of him; most jokes were driven by ulterior motives.

The dishes were served quickly, filling the table with a wonderful aroma that made Lin Bei's mouth water!

Lin Bei grabbed his chopsticks and started eating, stuffing a piece of braised pork into his mouth and chewing until his mouth was full of oil.

"Mmm, delicious! Sister Na, please have some too, don't be shy!"

Madana picked up a piece of green vegetable with her chopsticks, chewed it slowly, and ate very little. She only tasted a bite or two of each dish before putting down her chopsticks, and the rest went into Lin Bei's stomach.

Lin Bei devoured most of the dishes on the table by himself, downed two jugs of wine, and then let out a satisfied burp.

Then he picked up a toothpick, crossed his legs, and picked his teeth, looking just like a young master from a warlord's family.

Madana looked at him and shook her head with a smile.

"With the way you eat, don't go out and say you know me."

Lin Bei chuckled: "Why would I pretend in front of Sister Na?"

Madana ignored him, stood up, and went upstairs.

"Go to bed early, we have to keep traveling tomorrow!"

"Okay, goodnight, Sister Na!"

Lin Bei downed the last glass of wine, wiped his mouth, and staggered upstairs.

As night deepened, the town fell completely silent.

The pale moonlight shone on the street, adding to the feeling of desolation.

The night watchman, carrying a lantern and striking his clapper, weakly called out, "The weather is dry, be careful with fire!"

"Clang! Clang! Clang!"

In the inn, Madana sat on the bed, meditating with her eyes closed, her mind preoccupied with the events of the day.

Why did that demonic aura disappear in a flash? Was it intentionally concealed, or was it a coincidence?

She thought about it for a long time, but something felt off. In this area, besides disciples from various sects, there were also shamanic practitioners!

These shamanic practitioners usually deal with the Five Great Immortals, but the demonic aura today doesn't seem to belong to the Five Great Immortals; it seems to carry an eerie quality...

Madana opened her eyes, stood up, and walked to the window.

She opened the window and looked out; the street was deserted, not a soul in sight.

She turned to look in the north of the city; her intuition told her that something was wrong there.

Madonna flashed out of the window and landed silently on the street.

She wore a black Taoist robe, blending into the night like a shadow. With her toes barely touching the ground, she floated lightly towards the north of the city.

In the next room, Lin Bei was meditating and cultivating. Since breaking through to the Daoist realm, his cultivation level had increased extremely slowly, only about a dozen strands a day.

The meridians within his body were nurtured by the power of thunder, making them extremely resilient!

Suddenly, he sensed movement in the next room. Before he could think further, Madonna's presence vanished in a flash, disappearing into the next room!
