Zombie World: Starting as an apprentice of the Thunder King

Chapter 25 Five-Year-Old Polygonum multiflorum

After leaving Jufulou Restaurant, the two went to the east end of town to find Butcher Zhao.

Zhao the butcher's shop was in an alley. Several pork patties hung at the entrance, surrounded by a swarm of flies, and a foul stench wafted from afar.

Lin Bei pinched his nose and walked in: "Uncle Zhao, I heard you killed a black dog a couple of days ago?"

Butcher Zhao was a burly man with broad shoulders and a thick waist. He was chopping bones with a cleaver in his hand.

Hearing Lin Bei's words, she looked up and asked, "Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Do you still have any black dogs? I'd like to buy one!"

"Hey, Master Lin, you're buying black dogs too? Fine, take one if you need it!"

After saying that, he went to the back and soon came back carrying an old black dog. Judging by its age, it was probably at least five years old, let alone three!

Lin Bei paid the money, and Shi Shaojian left with the black dog.

"I said, let's just buy a bowl of dog blood, why did we have to buy a whole dog!" Looking at the money Lin Bei paid, Shi Shaojian felt a little heartache. These days, it's not easy to make money as a Taoist priest.

Looking at Shi Shaojian's greedy expression, Lin Bei shook his head and laughed, "You can't say that. This black dog is quite old and has developed a kind of intelligence. Keeping it won't do any harm!"

The two walked and talked, and soon arrived at Wang Laoliu's house in the west of the town!

Wang Laoliu's house is on the very edge of town, a small courtyard enclosed by an earthen wall, where he keeps dozens of chickens.

When Lin Bei knocked on the door and went in, Wang Laoliu was squatting in the yard feeding the chickens.

"Sixth Uncle, I heard you have a rooster that you've raised for several years?" Lin Bei asked directly.

Wang Laoliu stood up. He was a thin old man who squinted at Lin Bei.

"Master Lin, are you talking about that big speckled rooster? We've had it for five years, it's very fierce, it pecks people!"

Lin Bei's eyes lit up; the fiercer the rooster, the better.

"Sixth Uncle, I want to buy it. Name your price!"

Wang Laoliu hesitated for a moment, somewhat reluctant: "I've raised this chicken for five years, I've grown attached to it..."

Lin Bei immediately pulled out two silver dollars: "Sixth Uncle, two dollars, enough for you to buy another bunch of chicks."

Wang Laoliu looked at the two silver dollars, a glint of desire flashing in his eyes. He swallowed hard and took them.

"Fine, take him away then."

Wang Laoliu walked into the chicken coop and pulled out a huge speckled rooster.

This chicken was a whole size bigger than a normal rooster, with a bright red comb, bright eyes, and claws as thick as eagle claws.

It was held in Wang Laoliu's hand, struggling desperately, flapping its wings loudly, and making angry cooing sounds.

Lin Bei was delighted at the sight of it; this chicken was full of energy and its blood must be in good condition.

He took the rooster, thanked Wang Laoliu, and walked back with Shi Shaojian.

"This chicken is huge," Shi Shaojian said, looking at the rooster. "It's almost as big as an eagle."

"A five-year-old rooster has abundant yang energy, and the talisman it draws is 30% more powerful than ordinary blood ink."

Lin Bei held the chicken in one hand, while Shi Shaojian carried the dog's blood and cinnabar. The two hurried back to Qingzhu Mountain.

Shi Jian saw the large speckled rooster in Lin Bei's hand and a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.

"This rooster is good!" Shi Jian took the rooster. "Don't kill it, keep it to crow!"

Lin Bei was taken aback: "Master, that blood ink..."

"Dog blood is enough; rooster blood doesn't need to be this good." Shi Jian threw the rooster into the chicken coop. "Just kill an ordinary rooster."

Lin Bei: "..."

He spent two silver dollars to buy a chicken, but his master wouldn't let him kill it.

Shi Jian grabbed an ordinary rooster from the chicken coop, slit its neck with a knife, and collected a bowl of blood.

They bled some more blood from the black dog. Throughout the whole process, the black dog didn't struggle at all; it just watched helplessly as it was bled out!

After adding the black dog's blood, mix it with the rooster's blood in the correct proportion, add cinnabar and some medicinal herbs, stir well, and steam it in a pot for 15 minutes.

Once the blood ink is made, it is a dark red and shiny color, and has a faint fishy smell.

"Take these and use them!" Shi Jian divided the blood ink into two portions and handed them to Lin Bei and Shi Shaojian.

The two took the blood ink and continued drawing talismans.

With the blood ink, the power of the talismans drawn is much greater than before.

Lin Bei tried a talisman to ward off evil spirits, and the golden light shining on the talisman was almost half as bright as before.

"Great stuff!" Lin Bei exclaimed, then buried himself in his drawing.

For the next few days, the two of them did nothing but practice drawing talismans, except for eating and sleeping.

Lin Bei drew more than forty talismans to ward off evil spirits, more than thirty talismans to suppress demons, and more than one hundred talismans to exorcise evil spirits.

Shi Shaojian also drew quite a few, dozens of demon-suppressing talismans and more than a hundred exorcism talismans. During this time, he tried to draw a talisman to break evil spirits, but before he could finish half of it, the talisman paper was ruined because he did not have enough spiritual power.

Even Shi Shaojian himself almost fainted. From then on, Shi Shaojian became completely obedient.

The two sorted the drawn talismans into categories and carried them with them.

Lin Bei also asked Shi Jian to re-sharpen the Demon-Slaying Sword, polishing the blade until it gleamed and shone coldly in the sunlight.

Shi Shaojian was also cultivating his Bagua Mirror. He had far fewer attack methods than Lin Bei, and his only reliance was this magic weapon.

Both of them were determined to make the weasels come back and teach them a lesson.

Meanwhile, in the deep mountains a hundred miles away, Huang San Niang was recuperating from her injuries.

Its injuries were much more severe than Lin Bei had imagined; Shi Jian's lightning had almost destroyed all the meridians in its body.

Huang Sanniang lay in the cave, her whole body wrapped in herbs, and every movement caused her excruciating pain.

Huang San Niang gritted her teeth, took out a jade box from the deepest part of the cave, opened it, and found a He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum) inside. At the same time, a rich medicinal fragrance filled the cave.

This Polygonum multiflorum plant is as thick as a baby's arm, covered with fibrous roots, and you can vaguely make out a human shape.

The 500-year-old He Shou Wu was Huang San Niang's most treasured possession, originally intended for use when it broke the 1,000-year mark.

But I can't worry about that now.

Huang San Niang stuffed the he shou wu directly into her mouth and swallowed it without even chewing it.

A powerful medicinal force exploded within its body, causing Huang San Niang to shudder and her body to crack open, with a large amount of blood flowing out. She gritted her teeth and guided the medicinal force to repair her damaged meridians.

Wherever the medicine reaches, the broken meridians are reconnected, and the charred skin and flesh on the outside regrow.

This process was extremely painful; Huang San Niang rolled on the ground in agony, letting out piercing screams.

The weasels guarding the cave were terrified when they heard the old man's screams, and none of them dared to go in.

For a full day and night, Huang San Niang endured this inhuman torture.

It didn't emerge from the cave until the next morning.

Its wounds have mostly healed, and its fur has grown back. Although it's not as golden and shiny as before, at least it's not bald anymore.

Five-hundred-year-old He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum) is indeed potent in medicine.

Huang San Niang's blood-red eyes were filled with resentment and venom. She glanced in the direction of Qingzhu Mountain and let out a shrill cry.

"Someone come here!"

Several old weasels ran over and lay prostrate on the ground: "What are your orders, Ancestor?"

"Go to the Hui family and tell Master Hui that I'm healed and can start fighting again."

"yes!"

A gray weasel turned and ran, disappearing into the dense forest.
