Zombie World: Starting as an apprentice of the Thunder King
Chapter 161 The Fox Spirit Steals the Corpse!
In the darkness of the night, Si Mu stood at the front, shaking the Sanqing Bell in his hand, bouncing back and forth.
Behind him stood a row of corpses dressed in Qing Dynasty official robes, each with a yellow talisman pasted on its forehead, hopping and jumping in perfect unison.
Lin Bei and Shi Shaojian followed beside the group, watching the Four Eyes Corpse-Driving Technique.
Shi Shaojian couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Uncle-Master, isn't it tiring to transport corpses like this? Hopping around like that looks exhausting."
Si Mu rolled her eyes at him: "What do you know? This is what you call professional!"
"The art of corpse driving has been passed down for hundreds of years, so there must be a reason for it."
"Besides, times are tough these days, and there are fewer and fewer corpse-driving masters. My skill is unique."
"I make one trip a month, and the money I earn is enough to last me for several months."
Shi Shaojian chuckled: "Uncle-Master, I heard you have a box of small yellow croakers hidden at home, is that true?"
Si Mu's expression changed, and she glared at him: "Who said that? It's a rumor! It's all a rumor!"
Lin Bei smiled silently to the side; he knew that the box of small yellow croakers that Si Mu had was real.
However, this senior uncle always kept it well hidden and never mentioned it to outsiders.
Shi Shaojian was about to say something when Si Mu turned around and glared at him: "If you feel tired, you can come and rush me. It'll be a good opportunity for this humble Taoist to rest."
"No, no, no, I don't understand this..."
"If you don't understand, learn it!"
Si Mu shoved the Three Pure Bells into Shi Shaojian's hand. "Take it and shake it to my rhythm. Don't make it too loud or too soft. Just loud enough for the corpse to hear."
"The rhythm of the bell must be precise; shake it every three steps, and pause every seven steps."
"The corpses follow the sound of the bells; if you disrupt the rhythm, they will follow suit."
Shi Shaojian, holding the Three Pure Ones Bell, was completely stunned: "Uncle-Master, I really don't know how!"
"If you don't know how, then learn! Do you think you're here to eat and stay for free?"
"If you don't work, where will you get your food?"
Shi Shaojian, with a pained expression, tried to follow the method of the Four Eyes, but the rhythm went out of control after only a few shakes, and the corpses behind him tumbled and jumped into a mess.
Si Mu slapped him on the back of the head: "Idiot! I told you to sway every three steps, who told you to sway every five!"
Shi Shaojian sighed, rubbed his head, and continued to transport the corpses.
Si Mu sat on his customer's shoulders, stretching his back comfortably.
Seeing this, Lin Bei also jumped up. With free labor available, who would want to walk?
It's just that the corpse-driving Taoist priest Shi Shaojian in front is having a tough time!
The journey of transporting corpses was longer than expected.
During the day they would find places to rest and avoid the sun, and then continue their journey at night.
Fortunately, Simu knew the area very well, and he knew exactly where to rest and where there were mortuaries where he could stay.
On the fourth night, Lin Bei was so bored that he also tried to learn how to transport corpses.
Lin Bei learned quickly. He tried shaking the Three Pure Bells a few times and chanting a few incantations. The row of corpses behind him actually jumped up and down with him.
Although their movements were a bit uncoordinated, at least they could walk.
"Yo ho!"
Lin Bei got excited, "This is actually quite fun!"
"That's because you have a good foundation."
Si Mu sat there, legs crossed, picking his teeth with a straw in his hand. "If it were someone else, they wouldn't even be able to get in the door in three to five days."
As he said this, he glanced at Shi Shaojian beside him!
Shi Shaojian simply ignored him and jumped onto the corpse's shoulder, enjoying himself comfortably.
On the fifth night, the moon was bright and the stars were few. Si Mu hurried ahead, while Lin Bei and Shi Shaojian sat on the corpse.
The corpse bounced and swayed forward, like it was being carried in a sedan chair.
Four Eyes, ringing a bell ahead, cursed without turning his head: "You two brats, treating my customers like royalty, what kind of behavior is this!"
"Uncle-Master, they're not tired anyway!" Shi Shaojian replied with a grin.
Just then, Lin Bei noticed something unusual at the end of the line out of the corner of his eye.
He turned around abruptly and saw a white figure appear out of nowhere.
They were silently dragging a corpse into the woods by the roadside.
"What kind of demon dares to be so insolent!"
Lin Bei shouted and charged forward like an arrow.
The Demon-Slaying Sword was drawn, a flash of lightning streaking across its blade: "Lightning Flash!"
A bolt of lightning as thick as a wrist shot out from the tip of the sword, striking the ground precisely in front of the white figure and creating a large crater.
The figure screamed in fright at the sudden flash of lightning, released the corpse from its grasp, and turned to run away.
Lin Bei landed and continued on his way, using the Yu Step technique to chase after him: "Still trying to run?"
The white figure moved with incredible speed, traversing the forest as if it were flat ground.
But Lin Bei's Yu Step was faster, and he caught up with Lin Bei in just a few leaps.
Only then did he get a clear look at the figure: a woman in a white dress.
She was slender and had a beautiful face, but her ears didn't look like human ears!
Lin Bei's eyes widened: Holy crap, it's a vixen!
Seeing Lin Bei chasing closely, the fox spirit suddenly turned around and waved her hand, spraying a pink mist towards him.
The mist carried a sweet, cloying fragrance that made one feel dizzy just from smelling it.
"Purification Mantra! Disperse the impurities!"
Lin Bei made a hand seal with his left hand, and a beam of spiritual light shot out from his fingertips, dispelling the pink mist completely.
He accelerated again, holding the Demon-Slaying Sword horizontally in front of him to block the fox spirit's path.
"Why are you running? You stole my things and you think you can just run away?"
The fox spirit was blocked in her way and looked flustered.
Her eyes flickered slightly, revealing a charming smile.
"Young Taoist priest, you're really pursuing me... Why don't we find a place to talk slowly?"
As she spoke, she gave Lin Bei a flirtatious wink, twisted her body, and tore off half of her clothes, revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin.
A strong, seductive aura emanated from her movements.
Lin Bei was stunned for a moment by this sudden honey trap, and almost fell for the foxy charm.
Fortunately, the purple fake core in his dantian suddenly trembled, and a surge of pure yang energy rushed into his mind, stabilizing his mind.
"You audacious fiend, how dare you tempt me!"
Lin Bei unleashed a sword strike, shouting, "Slay the Demon!"
The sword energy pierced the air, forcing the fox spirit to retreat repeatedly.
Only then did he realize that the Taoist priest was not tempted by women, and he immediately transformed into a white light and disappeared into the depths of the dense forest.
Shi Shaojian finally ran over, panting, and asked, "How did it go? Did you catch it?"
"They got away!" Lin Bei chuckled softly.
Four Eyes strolled over leisurely: "This fox spirit only has two or three hundred years of cultivation. With your strength, you could have killed it with that one sword strike. Why did you let it escape?"
Lin Bei smiled and said, "Uncle-Master, don't you find it strange?"
"What's strange?"
"As you just said, this fox only has two or three hundred years of cultivation."
"But she has already transformed into human form, and so completely at that, even her speech is exactly like a human's!"
His eyes lit up: "You mean...?"
Lin Bei looked in the direction the fox had fled and said, "Ordinary demons take five hundred years to transform into human form, but this one only took two or three hundred years."
"This means either it was lucky to eat the Transformation Grass, or there's some treasure in its nest."
Four eyes lit up: "Transformation Grass? That stuff is incredibly valuable!"
"If we could find one or two of them, whether we traded them or refined them into pills, it would at least increase our cultivation level by a few years."
"Let's follow them and see."
Lin Bei sheathed his demon-slaying sword and pointed it in the direction the fox spirit had disappeared. "She can't escape. The entire path is filled with her demonic aura!"
