Zombie World: Starting as an apprentice of the Thunder King

Chapter 105 Can't you be serious for once?

After performing the ritual to deliver all the ghosts from their deaths, Lin Bei withdrew his magic and stood up.

Wang Hu remained kneeling on the ground, tears streaming down his face, and kowtowed three times to Lin Bei: "Daoist Master! Thank you both for saving my life!"

"Don't thank me yet!"

Lin Bei walked over, squatted down, and looked at him: "Tell me, where did your cultivation come from?"

Wang Hu was stunned for a moment, then answered honestly, "Six months ago, I found out about Xiao Cui's death and wanted to fight Xu Feng to the death, but he injured me and I ran away."

"Later, I met a dead Taoist priest in the mountains and found a cultivation manual on his body, so I practiced it."

"What about that cultivation manual?"

Wang Hu pulled a tattered booklet from his pocket and handed it over.

Lin Bei took the book, flipped through a few pages, and frowned.

This is a heretical cultivation method that uses the resentment of vengeful ghosts and spirits to cultivate. Although it allows for rapid progress, it has endless consequences.

"You've cultivated for half a year and haven't completely succumbed to demonic possession yet; you're lucky you're still alive." Lin Bei put the booklet away. "Your cultivation is now ruined."

"Crippled?" Wang Hu's face turned pale. "Daoist Master... I..."

"You're practicing evil magic. If you continue, the resentment will only corrupt your mind, and you'll go insane sooner or later." Lin Bei looked at him. "Your wife wants you to live a good life. You don't want her to worry about you even in the underworld, do you?"

Wang Hu remained silent for a long time before finally nodding emphatically: "I will listen to the Taoist priest."

Lin Bei slapped his dantian with his palm, unleashing his magical power to completely shatter the meager evil cultivation within him.

Wang Hu groaned and slumped to the ground, his face pale, but his eyes became much clearer.

"Thank you for your help, Daoist Master."

Lin Bei stood up and glanced around the dark room: "You can't stay here. Bury your wife properly and live a good life."

"If you wish to cultivate the Tao, I suggest you... practice the methods of Buddhism!"

Wang Hu kowtowed three times, staggered to his feet, and carrying the empty wine jar, walked out of the dark room step by step.

Lin Bei and Shi Shaojian watched his figure disappear into the night without saying a word.

After a long pause, Shi Shaojian let out a breath: "That son of a bitch Xu Feng deserves to die a hundred times over."

"That's right, but... Senior brother, your wooden stake technique is amazing! I already told you to let me handle this!"

"Hehe, I can't just stand by and watch!" Shi Shaojian said with a sly smile.

"Let's go back to sleep." Lin Bei rolled her eyes at him and patted his shoulder. "We still have to travel tomorrow."

The two climbed over the wall of the Xu residence and hurried back to the inn in the darkness.

As Shi Shaojian walked along the road, he kept muttering, "Do you think Wang Hu will be able to live a decent life from now on?"

"Or perhaps he'll listen to you and practice Buddhism!"

"Who knows? He practiced some unorthodox methods. Buddhism can purify his mind!" Lin Bei smiled. "As long as he has such thoughts in his heart, he won't collapse."

Shi Shaojian thought for a moment and nodded: "That's right, people always need something to look forward to in life."

The two pushed open the door of the inn and went back to their respective rooms.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the two brothers packed up and left the inn.

Before the morning mist had even dissipated, the townspeople had already begun their busy day. Steam rose from the breakfast stalls, and the aroma of steamed buns and mantou wafted down half the street.

Lin Bei bought a few meat buns and walked out of town while munching on them. Shi Shaojian followed behind, also holding two buns in his hand, eating with his mouth full of oil.

"Junior brother, which way should we go?"

"I've inquired about the south. Master Simu's dojo is in Guangdong. If you follow the official road, it will take about seven or eight days to get there."

The two left the town and headed south along the main road.

The two walked for several days without incident!

That day, the sun was high overhead, making the ground scorching hot. There were a few crooked trees by the roadside. Lin Bei stopped to rest under a big tree, took out a water pouch from his spatial stone, took a couple of sips, and then tossed it to Shi Shaojian.

"Senior brother, what else do you think we might encounter along the way?"

Shi Shaojian took the water pouch and took a big gulp: "Anything is fine as long as I don't run into someone I can't beat. Last time, Xu Feng's mess wasn't difficult to deal with, but it still took a whole night to get through it."

"Your requirements are quite low." Lin Bei smiled, put away the water pouch, and said, "Let's go, let's travel as much as we can while it's still early."

The two continued on their way, passing through farmland and villages, until evening when it suddenly got dark.

The sky was filled with dark clouds, giving off a gloomy feeling!

"Junior brother, is it going to rain?" Shi Shaojian tugged at his shirt.

Lin Bei looked up at the sky and frowned: "Something's not right, it's going to rain."

Shi Shaojian was taken aback for a moment, then laughed and said, "Junior brother, don't make a fuss. It's not like it's going to rain, it's going to snow!"

Lin Bei's face twitched slightly. What the hell is this snowing? Can't you think about other things?

"Senior brother, can you be a little more reliable? I sense a corpse aura drifting over from that direction." Lin Bei pointed in a direction.

"Uh...corpse aura? How come I keep running into demons and monsters everywhere I go?" Shi Shaojian didn't doubt Lin Nei's words and maintained his belief. There was nothing he could do; the other person was strong, had a high level of cultivation, and, more importantly, had a wide range of knowledge!

Lin Bei rolled his eyes at him, then strode quickly toward the direction from which the corpse energy was coming.

After passing through a grove of low trees, a mass grave came into view. Crooked mounds of earth were scattered among the weeds, and some of the graves had collapsed, revealing the decaying coffin lids inside, but the bodies inside were nowhere to be seen.

In the center of the mass grave, a relatively new mound was shaking violently, with fresh soil falling off the top of the mound and cracks spreading from the top to the bottom.

"Wow! Junior brother, this guy turned into a zombie right after he died?"

"They're being way too impatient!" Shi Shaojian exclaimed from the side.

Lin Bei's eyes bulged, then he laughed and scolded, "Can't you be serious for once? Your words are so harsh; what if the person has an emergency? It's not good to keep it bottled up!"

boom!

With a muffled thud, the grave mound exploded, and a zombie dressed in funeral clothes sprang straight out of the ground, making a shallow crater when it landed.

Lin Bei looked closely and realized it was just a black zombie!

Roar!

After the black zombie jumped out, it roared and stared intently at Lin Bei and his companion, its eyes filled with rage!

"Wow, that's quite a powerful shout!" Shi Shaojian exclaimed excitedly. "Junior brother, let's have a go!"

"Alright, let's go!"

Lin Bei dashed forward, his right hand shooting out a punch aimed at the black zombie's chest.

"Thunderbolt!"

Lightning crackled on his fist as he slammed it into the black zombie's chest with a dull thud. The black zombie was forced back three steps, leaving a charred patch on its chest and a large amount of corpse energy escaping outwards!

Roar!

The black zombie let out an angry growl, and its bluish-black claws lashed out at Lin Bei's face with incredible speed.

"Golden light appeared swiftly, enveloping my body!"

Lin Bei shouted loudly, and a golden light shield appeared on his body, allowing him to withstand the claw attack. At the same time, he pulled a corpse-suppressing talisman from the spatial stone with his left hand and stuck it on the black zombie's forehead with a snap.

The corpse-suppressing talisman glowed with golden light, and the black zombie suddenly froze in place.

"Let me do it, let me do it!"

Shi Shaojian hurriedly shouted, then formed hand seals and chanted an incantation: "True Qi of Yi Wood, gather in my palms. The stance is like a dragon and elephant, shattering the earth and piercing the sky!"

The ground shook, and two wooden stakes, each as thick as a bowl, burst from the ground beneath the black zombie's feet, flanking it from the left and right.
