I chose one of four options at the start, and I chose the number one clan in Lingnan.

Chapter 2 If you can't even protect your ancestors' graves, what kind of Lin family are yo

My second great-uncle struck the bluestone slab heavily with his cane, producing a dull thud.

"What a tragedy! If our ancestral graves are destroyed, how will we face our ancestors after we die!" The second uncle cried, tears streaming down his face, his hands gripping his knees.

An old man with a goatee stepped forward and said in a low voice, "Grandpa, Second Brother, if you ask me, we should just bear with it."

Behind Zhao Laosi is the Zhao Group in the provincial capital, a multi-billion dollar enterprise. How can we, from this poor, remote village, compete with them?

Another middle-aged man with a beer belly chimed in.

"Yes, Grandfather, I heard that Zhao Laosi has spoken up this time. As long as we agree to relocate the grave, he is willing to give us three million in compensation."

Let's take this money and give everyone some living expenses. With the rest, we can find a piece of wasteland to bury our ancestors' ashes. Isn't that another way to survive?

"Bullshit!" Lin Fei struggled to his feet and pointed at the beer-bellied man, cursing loudly.

"Lin Facai! You're willing to throw away your grandfather's ashes for a few stinking bucks?!"

Zhao Laosi and his gang drove an excavator and ran over it, shattering the urn completely. Where are you going to collect the ashes now?!

Lin Facai shrank back: "Wasn't I just thinking of everyone? There are over three hundred strong men with iron bars, are we just going to go up there and die?"

Lin Ting stood on the steps, watching the group of elders arguing amongst themselves.

These old fogies, when bullied to the point of no return, don't think about fighting back; instead, they try to settle things with three million. Their backbone has gone weak.

Lin Ting turned around and walked to the small square table next to the armchair.

He picked up the two shiny walnuts on the table, turned around and walked over to Lin Facai.

Lin Facai looked up at Lin Ting: "Grandpa, you have to give us some advice..."

"Snapped!"

Lin Ting raised his right hand and smashed the two walnuts in his hand directly onto Lin Facai's forehead.

The walnut was incredibly hard, and the blow landed squarely on Lin Facai's forehead. Two gashes appeared on his forehead, and blood flowed down his nose.

"Ouch!" Lin Facai clutched his head and squatted on the ground.

The courtyard fell silent instantly.

The second uncle opened his mouth but dared not utter a sound, and hundreds of elders were so frightened that they all took a step back.

Lin Ting took a muddy iron rod from Lin Fei's hand, weighed it in his hand, and then stuck the tip of the iron rod into the bluestone slab.

"Three million? You've sold out your ancestors." Lin Ting scanned the room.

"They're defecating on your ancestors' faces, and you're complaining the shit isn't hot enough, wanting to catch it in a bowl and eat it!"

Lin Facai covered his forehead and cried out, "Grandpa, we really can't beat them! Da Biao and the others are still locked up in the police station."

"The Lin family has 100,000 men, yet they can't defeat 300 wild dogs?" Lin Ting pointed at the plaque on the ancestral hall with an iron rod.

"The first rule of the Lin family: The descendants of the Lin family must have integrity that surpasses the heavens."

"If you can't even protect your ancestors' graves, what's the point of hanging up the Lin family name sign? Chop up the sign and burn it for firewood, everyone go home and farm!"

Lin Ting threw the iron rod to Lin Fei.

"Fei-zai, grab your gear and come with me to the back mountain." Lin Ting strode towards the gate.

Lin Fei picked up the iron rod, wiped the blood off his face, and quickly followed Lin Ting.

My second great-uncle, leaning on his cane, gritted his teeth and shouted, "Great-grandfather was right! What kind of person are we if we can't even protect our ancestral graves! I'll just throw these old bones of mine down the mountain today!"

My second great-uncle followed behind with faltering steps.

Dozens of old men gritted their teeth and followed. The rest stood in the courtyard, looking at each other, ultimately not daring to move.

The back mountain of Tazhai Town.

The area is overgrown with weeds as tall as a person, and the hillsides are covered with graves left by generations of the Lin family, with most of the graves having blue stone tombstones in front of them.

Eight large yellow excavators were parked halfway up the mountain, their exhaust pipes belching thick black smoke and their engines emitting a deep, rumbling sound.

The excavator's massive steel bucket hung in mid-air, with rows of graves below.

More than 300 burly men wearing black vests and with tattoos on their arms stood in front of the excavator.

They stood in a row, carrying baseball bats, shovels, and machetes.

In the middle of an open space.

A bald man wearing a floral shirt and a large gold chain is standing on a collapsed, wordless tombstone.

He is Zhao Laosi.

Zhao Laosi had a thick cigar dangling from his mouth and a briefcase tucked under his left hand.

He looked at Lin Ting and dozens of elderly, weak, sick and disabled people who had rushed over, and burst into laughter.

"Oh, I thought the Lin family might send some tough guys." Zhao Laosi exhaled a smoke ring and flicked the cigar ash onto the tombstone at his feet.

"So, a pretty boy showed up, leading a bunch of half-buried old fogies?"

Lin Fei rushed forward, iron bar in hand: "Zhao Laosi! Get your foot off my grandfather's tombstone!"

Old Zhao stomped on the tombstone twice provocatively: "What's wrong? You little brat, didn't you get enough of a beating just now?"

"If you take one more step forward, I'll have both your legs broken and buried with your grandfather!"

Several burly men in black vests raised their machetes and took two steps forward.

Lin Ting walked to the front.

He looked at the excavators covering the hillside and the group of thugs.

"Who sent you?" Lin Ting asked.

"Who the hell do you think you are, asking me questions?" Zhao Laosi pulled a document out of his briefcase and waved it in his hand.

"Look carefully, this is the land development contract approved by the town. This back mountain is now under the management of our Zhao Group."

"You bunch of penniless bastards, get the graves moved right now! This hillside must be leveled by tonight!"

The second uncle, brandishing his cane, shouted, "This is our Lin family's private land! You're forcing us to buy it! We're going to sue you!"

Zhao Laosi laughed.

He stuffed the documents back into his bag, threw the cigar on the ground, and crushed it with the tip of his leather shoe.

"Go ahead and sue us. See who in town dares to interfere with the Zhao Group's affairs. You old fool, you don't know what's good for you. If you don't want three million, then don't take a single penny."

Zhao Laosi raised his hand and waved to the excavator driver behind him.

"Stop wasting time talking to them. Let's get to work! First, raze those dozen or so old graves in front of us to the ground! Let's see who dares to stop us!"

The tracks of eight excavators began to turn, and the huge steel buckets swept through the air, aiming at the ancestral graves ahead.

The soil flew everywhere, and a large patch of weeds was flattened.

Lin Ting looked at the excavator's robotic arm that was raised high, but did not take a single step back.

Lin Fei and the others rushed forward in a hurry, only to be kicked to the ground by two burly men.

The second uncle was so anxious that he stomped his feet, but was pushed and shoved by several other men in black vests and fell into a mud pit.

This mountain is filled with barbarity and violence.
