Three times married to Yama

Chapter 90 I lied to you

"I understand," Pei Jian replied.

He stared at Pan Yi's retreating figure in the distance, his gaze hardening.

"Xiaoyi, don't blame me. Just think of it as doing it for the children. You came into our family for the children's sake, didn't you? You won't blame me, right?"

He muttered to himself, as if he were talking to himself.

Pan Yi couldn't raise enough money, and the next day, the little girl's other arm appeared outside the door.

She hugged her arms and cried her heart out, but there was nothing she could do.

Along with the arm came another letter, which invited Pan Yi to the woods outside the city, threatening to kill her if she refused.

Desperate to save her daughter, Pan Yi has no other thoughts on her mind. Even though she knows something is wrong, she will still go for her daughter's sake.

She immediately went to the woods mentioned in the letter, and Pei Jian hurriedly followed behind her.

In a grove of trees outside the city, a little girl was hanging high up in a tree, while a masked man stood below the tree carrying a bow and arrow.

Pan Yi saw this scene as soon as she arrived: her daughter was hanging from a tree, her arms were bleeding, and she had already fainted.

The man carrying a bow and arrows was looking in the direction she came from. Upon seeing her, he shouted, "If you don't hand over a thousand dollars today, all the arrows in this quiver will appear on your daughter."

Pan Yi knelt down before the masked man and kowtowed repeatedly, not stopping even when her head was bleeding.

"Please, please let my daughter go! I really can't come up with a thousand yuan. I'll give you all my money, please have mercy and let her go!"

"Or you can make me do anything, I'll be your slave, I can give you all the money I earn for the rest of my life, all I want is my daughter!"

As Pan Yi spoke, she kowtowed. A mother would accept anything for her daughter; all she wanted was for her daughter to come back.

But the masked man didn't seem to give Pan Yi that chance. He sneered and said in an icy tone, "I'm sorry, without money I'll have to kill her. I only care about money."

As he spoke, he raised his bow, drew the bowstring, and aimed an arrow at the little girl in the tree.

"You are a terrible mother. You can't earn money or raise any money. You killed your daughter. If you had money, your daughter wouldn't have died."

"You are a sinner."

After saying that, the masked man released his bow and shot an arrow at the little girl who was hanging, which swiftly and accurately pierced her body.

"No!!!"

Pan Yi watched with bloodshot eyes as her daughter's small body was pierced by a long arrow. As if afraid that the little girl wasn't completely dead, the masked man fired several more arrows. The little girl's body was riddled with thorns, and she no longer had any life.

"No! Yiyi, my Yiyi!"

She ran frantically to the tree, warm blood dripping onto her. Pan Yi cried and screamed, trying to climb the tree to rescue her daughter, but she didn't notice another figure approaching from behind.

Pei Jian's hand holding the wooden stick trembled, but his steps were unusually firm. He walked behind Pan Yi, hesitated for only a moment, and then raised the wooden stick and smashed it hard on Pan Yi's head.

Pan Yi fell to the ground instantly. She was stunned and hadn't even reacted when the wooden stick hit her on the head again.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

While apologizing incessantly, Pei Jian smashed Pan Yi's head until it was a bloody mess.

In the end, Pan Yi stopped breathing; she died in her most desperate moment, when she was most obsessed with money.

Pei Jian gave all the money he had to the masked man, who he had hired to put on an act.

The masked man took the money and left, and Mo Xun's figure slowly emerged from the depths of the woods.

"Master Mo Xun, is it alright now?" Pei Jian raised his face to look at Mo Xun, whose face was still stained with blood.

Mo Xun glanced at Pan Yi on the ground, then looked up at the little girl hanging there, and nodded in satisfaction.

"With a strong sense of resentment and a deep-seated obsession, it is excellent material for refining a Yin Wealth Ghost."

Pei Jian breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good."

Mo Xun suddenly turned his gaze to Pei Jian and smiled, "Actually, there's something I lied to you about."

Pei Jian's heart tightened again. "What?"

Mo Xun said, "Actually, there are no requirements regarding the birth date and time for refining Yin Wealth Ghosts. Any soul with a deep resentment towards money can be used."

"Then why did you lie to me, Master?" Pei Jian asked in shock.

Mo Xun looked at Pei Jian and said, "I just wanted to see what choices people would make and to what extent they would go for their own desires. You certainly didn't disappoint me. Humans are creatures that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals."

"But since I promised you, I will naturally do it. I've taken their bodies with me. You can wait to get rich and live a life of wealth and luxury."

Mo Xun's words left Pei Jian momentarily stunned, but by the time he came to his senses, Mo Xun, Pan Yi's body on the ground, and the little girl's body in the tree had all vanished.

On the fourth day after returning from the woods outside the city, Mo Xun gave Pei Jian a stone statue with the body of an animal but the face of a human, instructing him to bury it in a secluded place and offer it with fresh blood every month.

The day after Pei Jian followed the instructions, a boss suddenly took a liking to his skills and was willing to hire him at a high price, or even invest in him to start his own business. From then on, the gears of fate began to turn.

……

Old Master Pei was Pei Jian's third son. At that time, he already had memories, but they were not deep.

When Pei Jian grew old, he felt guilty and began to tell his descendants about the Yin Cai Gui (a type of ghostly wealth).

"You beasts! You Pei family members are truly beasts!" Xia Zheng shouted angrily, almost losing his composure.

I glanced at him, and he finally calmed himself down, but Old Master Pei's expression was very unfriendly.

After hearing what Grandpa Pei said, my mother's face turned ashen, and her eyes became red.

As a mother, she deeply sympathized with the innocent Pan Yi.

Master Lu looked at Old Master Pei thoughtfully.

"Those things were done by my father, they have nothing to do with the Pei family now. They are innocent, please save them!" When Old Master Pei said this, he seemed to have aged several years.

In the quiet night, my mocking laughter rang out as I looked around at the Pei family mansion, which resembled an ancient palace in its opulence.

"What are you laughing at?" Old Master Pei looked at me, his tone somewhat displeased.

I looked at him, my tone calm yet tinged with sarcasm, "The descendants of the Pei family are the beneficiaries; how can they be considered innocent?"

"All the money you've spent on food, clothing, and daily necessities over the years, all the extravagance you've amassed, and the booming success of your business—isn't it all because of these ghostly fortunes?"

"Also, has your Pei family donated any money to charity?"

When I asked him a question, Grandpa Pei lowered his head and did not answer, so it seems he did not donate.

But regarding what I said earlier, Old Master Pei still couldn't help but struggle to say, "The Pei family is full of talented people nowadays. Even without the Yin Cai Gui (a type of ghost), our Pei family still has a place in the business world."

"Really?" I looked at him. "Then let's see what happens to your Pei family without the Yin Cai Ghost."
