Three times married to Yama

Chapter 7 Searching for the Corpse

The necks of the four members of the Tian family were indeed black, with a faint bluish tinge...

"Aunt Hui, I didn't see any blue color. I only saw that their wounds were black," I replied softly, like a startled rabbit.

My answer stunned Aunt Hui. She stared at me in disbelief, her voice rising several octaves, "Can't you see the bluish ghostly aura at the wound?"

I shook my head. "I can't see it."

"Aunt Hui, this place is too scary, I... I can't stand it."

I quickly looked around the room, and then, like the others before me, covered my mouth and ran outside.

When the others saw me like this, they all shook their heads, and no one paid any more attention to me.

At this moment, I stood on the outermost edge of the crowd, calmly watching Aunt Hui walk out of the house.

I naturally saw the faint blue tinge around the head she mentioned earlier.

That was definitely ghostly energy; I could always see it.

Now that my father has disappeared, he has left behind such a precious thing as the Hundred Ghosts Record. If they think I am just a weak and ordinary woman without my father's abilities, then why would my father leave something to someone as ordinary as me?

I want to minimize the suspicions that those who covet me may have.

I didn't stay any longer and was about to turn around and go home when the police arrived. Soon, a cordon was set up outside, preventing the villagers from entering.

I can't stay in the village any longer. Although Qin Zhi and I exchanged birth dates and times, our appearances haven't changed. Everyone in the village knows me. I'm afraid of the worst-case scenario. What if Yan Jinyue suddenly comes looking for me one day?

I have to go to a strange place where nobody knows me.

Thinking of this, I quickened my pace to get back home. Once I got home, I started packing my luggage. I didn't have much stuff. I could buy clothes anytime. I only needed to bring some of my belongings.

However, there is one more thing I need to do before I leave.

Aunt Hui followed me like a persistent ghost. When she saw me packing my luggage, her eyes widened. "You're leaving?"

"Yes." I nodded. "Such a terrible thing happened in the village, I dare not stay any longer."

I sighed and continued to say to Aunt Hui, "I am very grateful to you for coming to help, but I thought about it all night. Since my father disappeared without a word, he must not want to implicate me, and I do not want to be a burden to him, so I do not plan to look for him. Aunt Hui, you should go back."

"Huh?" Aunt Hui stared at me in disbelief. "You're not looking for your dad anymore?"

I nodded again and said no more.

Now that I know my dad disappeared because he was hiding from a karmic debt, and he even told me not to look for him, what am I still clinging to?

I trust my dad. He said we would meet when the time was right, and so we will meet.

Aunt Hui was even more anxious than I was. "That's your father! You're just going to stop looking for him like that?"

I couldn't be bothered to answer her anymore. Seeing that I was ignoring her, her tone suddenly turned sinister. "Lan Yin, you really are a very filial daughter."

She gave me one last, wistful look before turning and leaving my house.

I didn't look away until her figure disappeared from my sight, and then I took out a small compass from the room.

This compass is not the kind that people usually see. I made it secretly when I was thirteen years old, behind my father's back, and it can only be used by myself.

Previously, at the Tian family's residence, only the heads of the deceased Tian family members were seen, but the bodies were not.

The Tian family used to treat me very well; I can't let them die such a tragic death.

Midnight.

I stood in the courtyard, holding a compass in my hand, facing the Big Dipper.

"The Big Dipper shines brightly; I point to it to find a person's shadow, chasing their soul a thousand miles away, searching for them across ten thousand miles."

"Hurry, hurry, as the law commands!"

After the incantation was finished, the magnetic needle on the compass in his hand began to spin wildly, eventually pointing to a certain direction outside the village.

Because of the tragedy that happened to the Tian family, the villagers turned off their lights and went to bed early after nightfall, and the whole village was very quiet except for the occasional barking of dogs.

It was also shrouded in a chilling, eerie atmosphere.

Dressed in all black, I quickly headed in the direction the compass indicated. The place was in a small grove of trees to the east of Changyue Village.

I searched in the grove until the compass needle stopped turning, and then I stopped.

Looks like this is the place.

When I came out, I brought a shovel with me. After I determined the location, I started digging. After digging a deep pit, a yellow talisman appeared in front of me.

The body of a headless little girl was buried beneath the talisman.

My expression instantly turned cold. If it really was a ghost that killed the Tian family, why would it bury them here?

Even if a ghost buried a person here, it's impossible for them to put up a talisman that could seal the ghost.

Therefore, I am more inclined to believe that someone used ghosts to kill the Tian family members.

I peeled off the talisman, and the surrounding temperature dropped instantly, but it wasn't a big problem for me. I'm not afraid of pain or cold at all.

At this point, I already had some guesses in my mind, and in order to confirm my guesses, I did not dig out the body from the pit immediately.

Instead, I followed the compass to the west outside the village, where there was a patch of wild roses growing naturally. In this patch of wild roses, I dug up another headless corpse belonging to a farmer.

If I'm not mistaken, the bodies of members of the Tian family were buried in all four directions outside Changyue Village.

Someone has surrounded the entire Changyue Village with corpses, forming a soul-trapping array. If this array is not broken, all the villagers of Changyue Village will die soon.

That's incredibly insidious.

I was on my way to the next burial site when a surprised voice came from behind me.

"You've found a second body, little girl! How did you do that?"

As footsteps approached, I turned around to look.

The newcomer was a young woman who looked to be around twenty-four or twenty-five years old. She had short, neat hair and wore a dark green jacket. Her striking, handsome face revealed her suspicion towards me.

Upon seeing the person who approached, I quickly changed my expression, looking at her with some fear.

"Who are you?" I took two steps back, my body trembling slightly.

She laughed. "What an interesting little girl. She's not afraid of corpses, but she gets so scared when she sees me, a living person?"

I looked at her sincerely and said, "A corpse is just a corpse. It's not like it's going to suddenly jump up and hurt me. But the human heart is unpredictable, isn't it, sister?"

The short-haired woman looked at me with a probing gaze. "Then how did you know the Tian family's bodies were buried here?"

I remained calm. "You might not believe it, but I dreamt that the little girl from the Tian family cried to me, saying that it was so cold underground and asked me to dig her out. That's why I decided to give it a try."

"I originally wanted to call the police first, but I felt it was absurd to call the police because of a dream, so I decided to dig around first."

Upon hearing my answer, she sneered, "Do you think I believe that?"
