Three times married to Yama
Chapter 66: He's slipped away.
Give me a reward?
Yan Jinyue, the way you're acting right now doesn't seem like you're going to give me a reward.
I calmed myself down; I was already tense, but now I felt much calmer.
"If Your Excellency is willing to give me a reward, I will naturally be very happy to accept it," I said to him with a smile.
At this point, I decided to take the initiative. I continued, "I know what Your Excellency wants to ask and what you want to know, but this is my privacy, my private matter. I believe Your Excellency won't ask any more questions, right?"
As I spoke, I held out my hand to Yan Jinyue. "What's the reward?"
My words made Yan Jinyue's already frosty face even colder, but I remained calm. He couldn't possibly strangle me here, could he?
Suddenly, the corners of his lips turned up slightly, and he replied, "Okay, I'll give you the reward you wanted when I get home."
After he finished speaking, he turned and walked out of the bamboo forest, but I immediately called him back.
"Wait a minute," I called out.
Yan Jinyue paused abruptly, his tall figure turned around, and the coldness in his eyes seemed to have faded somewhat as he looked at me.
"What is it?"
I took a few steps forward and walked up to Yan Jinyue. After thinking for a moment, I said to him, "Yan Jinyue, I want to keep our relationship a secret from my master. Let's pretend we don't know each other, okay?"
As soon as I heard those words, I felt the temperature around me drop.
Yan Jinyue's eyes were once again covered with frost, and she glanced at me indifferently.
I looked him straight in the eye, waiting for his answer.
A breeze stirred in the bamboo forest, scattering bamboo leaves in all directions. Yan Jinyue's figure appeared somewhat lonely amidst the fluttering leaves.
He neither agreed nor refused me, but turned around and strode away again.
As soon as he left, the wind in the bamboo forest suddenly stopped, as if the gust of wind had been caused by him.
Yan Jinyue looked a little angry; I hope I'm just overthinking it.
Junior Uncle and Aunt Hui haven't left Biyi Manor yet. For safety's sake, I decided to hurry down the mountain. Although I really wanted to attend Master's birthday banquet, there were too many people and too many eyes to see, so I couldn't stay any longer.
With that in mind, I went back to my master's residence. I put the gift for him in his room and slipped a letter under it. I figured my master wouldn't be upset that I gave it to him ahead of time.
While everyone was attending the birthday banquet, I quietly went down the mountain alone.
I arrived at the foot of the mountain as quickly as possible and finally breathed a sigh of relief. I'm off to the mountain now. I'll come back when there's no one at Biyi Mountain Villa anymore. There were just too many people today, and with Yan Jinyue around, it wasn't good for me to move around.
As for what I will do next, we'll talk about that next time.
I didn't go back to Xihu City immediately. I decided to stay in Yanyun City for a few days before going back, mainly because I didn't want to go back too soon to face Yan Jinyue.
I found a hotel in the city center and checked in, then decided to see if there was anything fun to do around the area.
After sleeping in the hotel for one night, I was woken up again by Xia Zheng's phone call the next day.
Xia Zheng's boisterous voice came from the other end of the phone, "Master! Where are you? Why didn't you tell me you were going out?"
"I'm on a business trip in Yanyun City. What's up?" I asked weakly, yawning.
I don't know if Xia Zheng is my nemesis, because he always wakes me up from my sleep.
Xia Zheng's voice became even more excited when he heard that I was in Yanyun City.
"Master! Why didn't you say so sooner? I'm going to Yanyun City too, we could have gone together!"
Hearing Xia Zheng's words, I woke up a bit more. "What are you doing in Yanyun City?"
"Hehe, my gaming partner asked me to meet up, in Yanyun City," Xia Zheng said shyly.
His words left me stunned. "You've only known each other for less than ten days, right? And you're already meeting? Aren't you afraid of being scammed into eating kidneys?"
"Don't be afraid. With Master here in Yanyun City, who dares to bite my kidneys?"
I,"……"
I still think Xia Zheng's ideas are too naive. The incident with Qingmei didn't teach him a lesson. If he gets fooled again, I wonder if it will teach him a lesson.
"Since you're not afraid, then you two should meet," I said to Xia Zheng.
"Alright, Master, I'll come to Yanyun City to find you right now!"
Looking at the phone after it was disconnected, I lost all sleepiness and got up to get something to eat before heading to the nearest tourist attraction.
But to my utter surprise, I ran into my junior uncle in the hotel lobby. He was all alone; Aunt Hui wasn't with him.
Thinking back to when my junior uncle and Aunt Hui were together at Biyi Manor, I knew they were very likely in cahoots and I absolutely couldn't trust them.
He certainly saw me too, and walked towards me with a strong sense of inquiry in his eyes.
"Lan Yin, what a coincidence, you're here too." Junior Uncle greeted me with a light laugh.
Actually, he must be starting to suspect me at this moment. After all, he saw someone who looked so much like me at Biyi Manor, and I just happened to be in Yanyun City. It would be abnormal if he didn't suspect me.
I cursed myself inwardly. I should have just gone back to West Lake City. What was I doing playing around in Yanyun City?
But when I saw my junior uncle, I still greeted him with a surprised yet polite smile.
"Junior Uncle!" I looked at him with surprise and delight. "What a coincidence! What are you doing here?"
My junior uncle stared intently at me, as if he didn't want to miss a single expression on my face.
"I'm here to celebrate a senior's birthday. What about you?" he asked.
I looked at him and replied calmly, "I came to Yanyun City with my friend to meet an online friend. I really didn't expect to meet Junior Uncle here."
My junior uncle glanced at me and asked, "Where's your friend?"
"He went to meet someone he met online and hasn't come back yet."
"I didn't treat you to a meal last time we met, but I'll definitely treat you well this time. I'll treat you and your friends to dinner tonight, you must come, okay?" The way the junior uncle said this left no room for refusal.
I sneered inwardly. Inviting me and my friends to dinner? They're probably testing whether I really came with friends.
Fortunately, Xia Zheng should arrive tonight, so I readily accepted his invitation to host me.
"Alright, then my friend and I would like to thank Junior Uncle for his hospitality." I said to him with a smile.
"Okay, then we'll contact each other again tonight." After saying that, Junior Uncle went out.
Watching my junior uncle's departing figure, I couldn't help but narrow my eyes. Perhaps he would bring Aunt Hui with him tonight.
Or perhaps the two of them will join forces to interrogate me about the whereabouts of the Hundred Ghosts Record.
But this time I can't run away. Instead of always hiding, I should take the initiative to deal with them.
