Three times married to Yama
Chapter 37 The Child Who Asked for Things in a Dream
My words made Sister Jiang's face turn pale instantly. She tried to speak, but her mouth trembled as soon as she opened it.
"Let's talk inside," Sister Jiang said, pointing to the building not far away.
"Okay." I nodded.
Sister Jiang led the way, while Yan Jinyue and I walked behind. As we walked, I looked around at the terrain and environment.
When I arrived at Sister Jiang's house, I found that her house was actually very clean, without any ghostly or eerie atmosphere; it looked perfectly normal.
I leaned closer to Yan Jinyue and whispered, "Lord, have you noticed anything amiss here?"
Yan Jinyue glanced around and replied, "The surroundings are clean, there are no ghosts."
It seems he and I share the same view, which means the problem likely occurred in a person.
When we arrived at Sister Jiang's house, she finally told us what had happened to her.
The incident happened about a month ago. Ms. Jiang kept dreaming about a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy. In the dream, the boy was naked and initially followed her silently. Later, she dreamed about the boy every night, and he started talking to her.
When they first spoke to her, Sister Jiang was terrified.
Sister Jiang said, trembling, "He said... he said he wanted a set of clothes and asked me to burn them for him at midnight the next day. But at the time, I just thought it was a strange dream and didn't take it to heart. But that night, I dreamed of him again."
"He was very angry. He said I didn't do what he said and he was going to punish me. The next day, my child's homeroom teacher called and said that my child had an accident at school and had broken his finger."
"I thought to myself, could this be the work of the child in my dream? If so, what is that child in my dream?"
"However, I didn't dream about that child for several days afterward, so I thought that my child's injury might just be a coincidence. But several days later, I dreamed about him again. This time, he said he wanted a paper kitten and asked me to burn it for him. I didn't do it, and the next day my child broke his leg again."
"I started to believe it, so after I dreamed of him again, I burned a paper cat as he told me to. Later, he kept asking me for things in my dreams, sometimes clothes, sometimes other small things, but if I didn't do as he said, something would definitely happen to my child the next day."
At this point, Sister Jiang sighed heavily. She looked up at me and said, "Yesterday I went to the store to buy a paper phone for the child in my dream. Luckily I managed to buy one, otherwise my child would have been hurt again."
Looking at the flush on Sister Jiang's face, I asked, "Did you dream about him again last night? And what he asked of you was really unreasonable?"
My words startled Sister Jiang. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at me. "Master Yin, you truly are a professional ghost hunter! How could you know this!"
I nodded calmly. Actually, it was just my guess. According to Sister Jiang's description, the child in her dream would ask her for things, and if she didn't get what she wanted, the child would hurt her.
Paper offerings are actually quite easy to buy, and Sister Jiang has tried her best to provide them, so she was just unlucky before.
But things are different now. She is now facing a death calamity, which proves that the child in her dream wanted something that Sister Jiang could not buy.
"What does the child in your dream want?" I asked.
Sister Jiang's expression turned frightened, and her voice became very soft, "He, he said he wants a child, alive, alive."
My expression hardened. That thing actually wanted a living child?
No wonder Sister Jiang couldn't buy it. This is a child, a living child. Putting aside the fact that human trafficking is illegal, who knows what the child in the dream would want a living child for?
I said seriously to Sister Jiang, "I will help you resolve this matter, but it will take some time. However, you must listen to me while I am handling this, and do not do anything impulsive or illegal."
Sister Jiang should know what I'm referring to. Hearing me say that, she quickly nodded and said, "I will definitely listen to you. I have no other choice. I asked some people to come and take a look before, but they all said that everything is normal here. There is nothing strange about me, neither in my house nor on my body."
"Sometimes I wonder if I have a mental problem, but the harm done to my child is real. I've already arranged for him to take a leave of absence from school. I'm really afraid that something else might happen at school."
"Thank goodness, thank goodness I met you, Master A-Yin. You gave me hope."
I never make promises beforehand, but faced with Sister Jiang's desperate and unwavering trust, I could only say, "Don't worry, Sister Jiang, I will do my best."
Sister Jiang nodded vigorously. Next, I suggested that we walk around every corner of her house, with a focus on her children.
There really wasn't much in her house, so I went to see Sister Jiang's child last.
He was a fourteen or fifteen-year-old boy in his third year of junior high school, but he had dropped out of school and stayed home because he kept getting injured for no reason. When I saw him, he was playing games and didn't even know that Yan Jinyue and I had entered the room.
Sister Jiang's son looked perfectly normal; he didn't have any ghostly aura or any other strange presence.
"Jiahao, stop playing around and get up to call for help." Sister Jiang walked over and gently patted Jiahao's shoulder.
Jiahao then looked up at us standing in the doorway, his face full of confusion. "Mom, I don't know them. How should I greet them?"
"Those are Master Yin and Mr. Yan," Sister Jiang said to Jiahao.
I said directly, "Just call us brother or sister. We have some questions for you, and we hope you can answer them truthfully, okay?"
After I finished speaking, I gave Jiahao a kind and gentle smile.
Jiahao was slightly taken aback, then quickly nodded, looking a little shy with his head down.
I asked Sister Jiang to go out first, and we'll talk to Jiahao alone.
"Jiahao, you've been getting injured a lot lately. Have you noticed anything wrong with you?" I asked directly.
He scratched his head and thought for a moment, "I just feel like I've been really unlucky lately. Nothing I do goes smoothly. I even broke my leg by falling on flat ground. But I don't know if it's just my imagination, but when I fell that time, I felt like someone pushed me from behind."
It seems it wasn't a hallucination; something did indeed push him.
"Have you ever met any strange people?" I asked again.
