Three times married to Yama
Chapter 1 The Wedding Robbery
"Daughter, Dad has snatched a husband for you! Do you like him?"
On my twentieth birthday, my dad brought me some earth-shattering news.
He robbed me of a marriage, and the wedding date was set for the fifteenth of July, the Ghost Festival.
And the person I'm going to marry isn't a person either.
Because when I was born, my body was ice cold and my face was bluish, and I had almost no heartbeat. In my father's words, I was like a dead person barely alive, and I could die at any moment.
The marriage he arranged for me was my only chance to survive.
My name is Lan Yin, and the story begins twenty years ago.
A few days before I was born, my father suddenly bought a large amount of black cloth and soaked it in black dog blood. After the black cloth dried completely, he used it to cover the area around my house tightly and airtight, and no one was allowed to enter or leave except for him and my mother.
His actions attracted the attention of the villagers, but the strong smell of blood made people pinch their noses and leave while cursing.
They all say my dad has gone mad. Having a baby is a joyous occasion; they've seen people drape a red cloth over a house, but never one wrapped in black.
My dad didn't explain, but he would check the black cloth every day to see if it was torn, and he checked it more frequently as my mom's due date approached.
Seven days later, my mother's water broke. My father, not trusting anyone, went to fetch a midwife himself. But on his way back, he saw a wandering Taoist priest standing in front of our house.
Upon seeing my father, the Taoist priest raised his long eyebrows and sternly rebuked him, "The most yang things obstruct the yin, fellow Taoist, do not remain stubbornly deluded!"
My mother screamed from inside the house. My father's eyes turned red when he heard it. He quickly sent the midwife inside, then turned around and came out to pin the old Taoist priest to the ground and beat him severely!
My dad knocked out one of Lao Dao's teeth, so I could only vaguely hear him saying things like "stillborn," "deceiving the heavens," and "committing a sin."
But my dad wouldn't listen. He said that even if I were on the verge of death, he would pull me back.
Seeing that my father was still stubborn, the old Taoist priest covered his leaky teeth and left without looking back, only saying "Take care of yourself".
No sooner had the old Taoist left than shadowy figures appeared all around my house, densely packed like a tide, surging towards it.
They let out howls that sounded like both human voices and wild beasts, and a chilling wind seemed about to tear off the black cloth covering my house.
My dad's face darkened. He moved a stool to the front door, sat down, and held a peach wood sword horizontally in front of him. He roared angrily, "Let's see who dares to step through this door tonight! Anyone who wants their soul to be annihilated can come and get it!"
As more and more "figures" surrounded us, my mother's screams grew louder and louder. Those figures tried to break into my house, but were repeatedly blocked by the black cloth.
As dawn broke and the roosters in the village crowed louder and louder, the "figures" surrounding my house finally retreated reluctantly.
My mother gave birth to me around this time. When I was born, I seemed to be almost dead. My body was ice cold, my face was bluish, and I had no heartbeat.
The midwife said regretfully, "This child has been confined in the womb for too long, I'm afraid he won't survive. You... well, my condolences..."
My dad remained silent, holding me tightly and refusing to let go, while my mom lay on the bed with tears in her eyes, looking at my dad with resentment.
She's blaming my dad.
That night, my maternal grandfather came to pick up my mother, and my father did not stop him, letting my grandfather beat him until his face was bruised and swollen.
"The child is dead, let her be laid to rest as soon as possible." Grandpa couldn't bear it in the end.
My dad hugged me tightly silently, and he stubbornly said, "My daughter, she can live."
My grandfather also thought he was crazy, shook his head, and left with my mother.
After my mother left, my father locked himself in his room for three days and three nights, and no one knows what he did in there.
Three days later, at dawn, as the first rays of sunlight shone down, the sound of a baby crying finally came from inside the house.
I survived.
My dad was as happy as a child, and the villagers were amazed, but no one dared to ask him anything.
However, although I am alive, I am still different from normal people. I can't feel pain, my heartbeat is abnormally slow, my skin is as pale as paper, and my whole person exudes a gloomy aura.
In the villagers' words, the Lan family's daughter was like a female ghost.
Despite this, my dad has always doted on me. He gave me whatever I wanted, and he never remarried. He raised me all by himself, acting as both father and mother.
But my health didn't improve; I was still barely alive, and it even got worse. Fortunately, my dad has been taking good care of me all these years, and nothing serious has happened.
The turning point came on my twentieth birthday when my dad suddenly made a surprising statement: he said he had stolen a husband from me.
I was shocked. "Dad, are you kidding me? Who would want to marry me looking like this?"
I am well aware of my physical condition; no normal person would marry me.
"So you have to fight for it." My dad didn't see anything wrong with it. "Dad will fight for you the best."
"and……"
My dad became completely mysterious. "He can keep you alive, and maybe he can even make you live like a normal person."
Is this for real?
I immediately became curious, "Who is he?"
My dad smiled mysteriously but didn't answer me. He just said he would take me to see someone that evening.
I thought my dad would take me to meet that mysterious husband, but I didn't expect him to just take me to another village.
Yongfeng Village.
He led me to the home of a family surnamed Qin at the end of the village. A girl about my age opened the door.
I know her. Her name is Qin Zhi. We were classmates when we were in elementary school.
I remember her as a very cheerful person, but now her brows are shrouded in sorrow.
"My parents went to prepare for the wedding and haven't come back yet. Please come in quickly," Qin Zhi said timidly.
Going to prepare for the wedding? To prepare for Qin Zhi's wedding? Although I was puzzled, I still followed my father inside.
Qin Zhi led us to her room, which was decorated in a festive manner, clearly a wedding room.
I looked around the room, when I heard Qin Zhi whisper to my father, "Uncle Lan, was everything you said before true? Can I really not have to get married?"
My dad nodded firmly, "Of course, if you don't want to get married, I'll have someone else marry in your place."
"But, but who would want to marry that, that kind of thing?" Qin Zhi was somewhat skeptical.
My dad pulled me over from the side, pointing at me and saying confidently, "My daughter is willing!"
I was completely dazed when I heard my dad lean close to my ear and whisper, "Daughter, you will marry in place of Qin Zhi in three days."
