Chapter 338 Odin Kills the Hotel
Two 9mm rounds hit Apollo's chest armor, and a third entered above his collarbone. The sniper then vaulted off the third-floor railing.
Four people were killed. Odin's watch trembled. Fifty percent of the battle was lost. Organization's ironclad rule: cut off the tail immediately.
He pressed the directional explosive button embedded in the load-bearing wall. A roar came from inside the wall, and the factory building, its load-bearing structure destroyed, began to collapse inward. Debris and sheet metal rained down from the ceiling.
Jiang Yan rushed towards the direction where Lu Yuan and Old Wang were, shouting, "Retreat! Retreat!"
Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, Odin, along with his last two trusted men, slipped into the pre-surveyed entrance to the underground sewage river. The iron gate closed, and they vanished into the underground pipe network.
......
At the edge of the ruins, Old Wang was being carried away by two special police officers. Jiang Yan ran to Lu Yuan's side and saw that his left arm was still dripping blood, which had soaked through the entire sleeve.
Just as she was about to call for a medic, Lu Yuan tore off a tattered cloth from the table and tightened it around his wound, then looked up at her.
"Odin has run away."
"I know the underground sewage channel has been blocked."
"We can't stop it. Since he scouted this route beforehand, there must be more than one exit." Lu Yuan stood up.
"The top international team suffered such a huge loss; Odin is not a rule-abiding person."
Jiang Yan's hand stopped at her waist: "What do you mean?"
"He'll turn around and bite the spot I care about most." Lu Yuan was already walking out. "Take Old Wang back to the safe house. I have to go back immediately."
......
On the 23rd floor of the hotel, at the temporary residence of Yuanhan Studio, Lu Yuan sped back, having just finished bandaging his wound.
Then a loud crash came from downstairs, the sound of glass being smashed by metal, mixed with the roar of an engine.
This was followed by a burst of gunfire, and the corridor alarms screamed wildly.
Lu Yuan bit the end of the gauze with his teeth and tore it off. He looked up at the surveillance camera and saw an unlicensed SUV stuck in a pile of broken glass in the lobby, with flames sticking out of the window.
Two security personnel from License International fell behind a pillar, shot in the leg.
Odin has gone mad. The ironclad rule of assassins is to flee immediately if the first strike fails, but Odin has no way out. He returns with 60% of his troops as casualties, and all that awaits him is the Scavenger's Iron Chair.
Rather than waiting to die, it's better to take the target and everyone around him with you.
Lu Yuan strode out of the office. In the corridor, Su Qinghan was already standing at the door, Lin Wanwan was supporting Xiao Ju, Zhao Xiaoman was carrying Lao Liu's airline case, and Sister Meng was holding her phone, not knowing who to call.
"Come with me."
Lu Yuan pushed everyone towards the end of the corridor. There was a heavy metal door there, which he had Xu Ke International install with a hydraulic lock and independent oxygen supply, turning it into a shelter.
He pushed Su Qinghan, Lin Wanwan, Xiao Ju, Zhao Xiaoman, and Sister Meng in one by one.
Su Qinghan stood on the inside of the threshold and looked back at him.
Lu Yuan reached out and smoothed the edge of the gauze on her forehead that still had stitches, then pressed the gate lock button.
The hydraulic explosion-proof door closed with a "click," severing all external access.
Lu Yuan turned around. At the end of the corridor, the elevator indicator light was jumping up from the third floor. Gunshots came from the stairwell, getting closer and closer.
......
The elevator arrived quickly, and with a "ding," the metal doors slid open, revealing an empty car.
Lu Yuan didn't turn his head; he stared in another direction—the fire door of the stairwell.
Sure enough, the fire door was kicked open from the inside, and three dark figures filed in. Odin was in the center, flanked by two remaining assault operatives on his left and right, their short thrusts shoulder-width apart, the beams of their tactical flashlights sweeping across the corridor.
Lu Yuan stood at the end of the corridor, looked down at his left arm, and saw that the blood seeping from the gauze had stained the cuff of his windbreaker black and red.
He reached down to his waist with his right hand and found that he still had eleven rounds left in the short assault rifle he had brought back from the shipyard.
Lu Yuan kicked over the fire equipment box at the corner of the corridor. The red metal sheet fell to the ground, barely covering the area below the knees.
He crouched down, the muzzle of his gun protruding from the side of the container, aimed at the corridor entrance thirty meters away.
Odin stopped, he spotted Lu Yuan, raised his left hand, and made a gesture.
The front-line assault soldier pulled an M67 fragmentation grenade from his tactical vest, pulled the pin, and then flicked his wrist. The metal grenade traced an arc in the air and landed precisely one meter behind the fire box.
Lu Yuan quickly rolled to the side, his entire body rolling out from behind the box. His back scraped against the corridor carpet, and his right hand steadied the muzzle of his gun as he rolled. A grenade exploded behind him.
The steel ball pierced the fire extinguisher box and embedded itself in the wall, causing a piece of plasterboard to fall from the corridor ceiling. The blast wave propelled him half a meter, his eardrums ringing.
Lu Yuan pulled the trigger during the last half-turn of his roll, hitting the fire hose connector on the right side of the corridor directly. The connector shattered, and a high-pressure jet of water sprayed down from the ceiling, splashing water mist half a meter high onto the carpet.
The corridor turned into a water curtain cave, with water pooling on the floor and mist permeating the air. Thermal imaging became useless due to the interference of the water vapor.
Odin's tactical goggles were covered in water droplets. He wiped his face. "Triangular thrust. Armor-piercing round."
He knew this tactic all too well: using environmental advantages to compensate for firepower disadvantages—the Joker's old trick. But armor-piercing rounds weren't afraid of water spray or walls; the bullets would just dig out the people behind the cover for him.
The three men changed their ammunition, pressing it forward in a triangular formation.
A dense hail of bullets rained down from three angles simultaneously, striking the load-bearing wall behind which Lu Yuan was hiding. Armor-piercing shells embedded themselves in the concrete, raising a cloud of gravel and dust on the inside.
A piece of gravel struck Lu Yuan's gunshot wound on his left forearm, causing him to see white for a moment from the pain. Blood welled up from under the gauze, dripping from his fingertips into the puddles on the ground, spreading into a pale red patch.
The barrage of fire continued relentlessly. Three guns were reloaded in quick succession, with no gaps in between. Lu Yuan was pinned to the corner; if his head or the gun barrel protruded even slightly beyond the wall, he would be torn to shreds.
This is the “Gods”.
The most expensive tactical squad in the European underworld, every member of which has survived the meat grinders of Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
Odin wasn't the kind of fool who thought he was invincible just because he had a good gun. His triangular crossfire suppression was completely devoid of any unnecessary movements, like a precisely operating machine.
In the control room on the first floor, the security guard on duty stared at the surveillance screen. The corridor on the 23rd floor was completely unrecognizable.
The wall plaster was smashed, water pipes were spraying water, and half of the light bulbs were blown out, the rest flickering. In the center of the image, the man in black was huddled behind a corner, with layers of concrete peeling away beside him.
Three fully armed men advanced toward him, the muzzle flashes of their guns clearly visible in the mist.
In the corridor, Odin advanced while suppressing his firepower. His footsteps splattered through the puddles. Fifteen meters to go. Five more meters, and he could shove the grenade right into that corner.
Lu Yuan leaned against the wall, breathing shallowly, his right hand gripping a short rifle; there were six rounds left in the magazine.
His gaze fell on the backup high-voltage distribution box, two meters above his head, whose outer shell was half-shattered by shrapnel.
The three-phase 380V industrial power supply box was deformed, and a section of the copper-colored cross-section of the internal insulation support was exposed.
