Don't mess with that necromancer; his summoned creatures level up on their own!
Chapter 7: If you lose the bet, you'll become a servant!
Lu Zhixing glanced at her indifferently: "You talk too much nonsense."
Gasps of astonishment filled the air.
Someone has already started secretly recording.
Su Youran's eyes narrowed dangerously, her lips moved as if she was about to say something—
"Quiet!"
The homeroom teacher, Ms. Zhou, called out from the direction of the teaching building, "Everyone, assemble on the playground and line up to head to the training field. Today is the professional skills test, so hurry up!"
Su Youran swallowed back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
Lu Zhixing didn't look at her and turned to walk towards the playground.
The training ground is located behind the teaching building. It is a separate building with thick, sturdy, gray-white walls and a barrier on top.
A huge screen hangs above the gate, which is usually used to display test data.
The students filed in and lined up in the open space in the center of the training field.
Lu Zhixing stood in the middle of the line, surrounded by his classmates. Some deliberately kept their distance from him, while others secretly watched him.
Some people were also glancing back and forth between him and Su Youran behind him out of the corner of their eyes.
Teacher Zhou stood at the front of the training field, next to a two-meter-tall human-shaped wooden puppet.
This is a standard training puppet that can withstand attacks of different levels and accurately calculates the damage value of a single attack through feedback from the crystal core.
"Today's test is simple. I set the puppet's defense level between Lv.1 and Lv.5."
In other words, your attacks will be simulated by the puppets to deal actual damage to monsters of levels 1 to 5. Come one by one, and use your strongest attacks.
She paused, her gaze sweeping across the entire room.
"Don't hold back, and don't try to show off. The puppet will tell you the real numbers."
The first one to go on stage was a round-faced boy. Lu Zhixing remembered that his name was Wang Hao, and he had awakened to be a D-level Iron Fist Fighter.
Wang Hao walked up to the puppet, took a deep breath, assumed a horse stance, and then shouted loudly, punching the puppet in the chest.
A muffled thud.
"Wang Hao, damage value: 87."
Wang Hao scratched his head and walked back, somewhat dissatisfied.
The second contestant was a tall girl who had awakened the C-rank Wind Blade Assassin.
She didn't even walk up to the puppet; she stopped five steps away and with a flick of her right hand, a wind blade almost invisible to the naked eye shot out from her fingertips.
"Zhao Qing, damage value: 112."
A low gasp of surprise rippled through the crowd.
A C-rank Wind Blade Assassin with 112 damage points is considered top-tier in the class.
The testing continues. The third, the fourth, the fifth.
The damage values range from tens to just over a hundred, basically matching their respective levels and classes.
No one was particularly amazing, and no one was particularly bad.
Su Youran walked from the back of the line to Lu Zhixing's side without anyone noticing.
She looked at the students taking the test in front of her, and lowered her voice so that only two people could hear her.
"Lu Zhixing".
"Um."
"Want to make a bet?"
Lu Zhixing turned his head and glanced at her.
"What are we betting on?" Lu Zhixing asked.
"Same as before," Su Youran said with a smile.
"If I win, you promise me one thing; if you win, I promise you one thing."
"Before, the bets were all about small things, like the loser treating the other person to dinner or running errands to buy milk tea."
Su Youran turned her head and met Lu Zhixing's gaze directly.
"This time, let's go big."
Lu Zhixing looked into her eyes and suddenly understood.
She felt confident of victory.
The gap between an S-rank psychic and an F-rank summoner cannot be bridged by the word "effort".
Su Youran has been ridiculously competitive since she was a child. After losing for more than ten years, she finally got the chance to turn the tables and become the master of her own destiny. How could she be satisfied with a small bet of a meal and a cup of milk tea?
She wants to win back everything she lost before.
"What are we betting on?" Lu Zhixing asked.
Su Youran's eyes lit up, as if she had been waiting for these words for a very long time before they finally came out of the other person's mouth.
She took a deep breath, trying to make her tone sound calm and assertive, but a hint of barely concealed excitement still crept into her voice.
"If you lose this test, you'll come to my house and serve me as a servant for a month. You'll be responsible for serving me tea and water, taking care of my food, clothing, and shelter, and you're not allowed to disobey my orders."
Lu Zhixing raised his eyebrows.
Su Youran thought he would hesitate, back down, or even become angry and embarrassed.
She had already rehearsed what she was going to say in her mind—"What, you're scared now? Weren't you pretty arrogant just now?"
But Lu Zhixing just smiled.
"And what if you lose?" he asked.
Su Youran replied without hesitation, "If we lose, we'll switch roles. I'll be your servant for a month, serving you tea and water, doing your laundry and making your bed, and being available whenever you call."
She paused for a moment, then said, "Of course, there have to be bottom lines. I won't agree to excessive demands."
Lu Zhixing nodded: "Hesitate."
Su Youran's heart skipped a beat.
She tried hard not to burst out laughing, and had already begun uncontrollably imagining what it would be like a month from now—
At Su Youran's command, Lu Zhixing dressed as a maid.
She wore a black and white lace dress, a white apron tied around her waist, a fluffy cat ear headband, and a matching lace wristband.
His hair will be styled into a neat hairstyle, and may even be tied with a bow.
Standing in the hall of the Su family villa, she held a silver tray with her favorite fruit and flower tea on it.
She sat on the sofa, legs crossed, looking down at him.
"Zhixing, the tea has gone cold."
Lu Zhixing would walk over respectfully, bend down, place the teapot on the coffee table, and pour another cup.
What will his expression be like? Frustrated? Resentful?
Or is it the kind that infuriates her the most, where someone loses miserably but still pretends to be indifferent?
No matter what it is, it will make her feel comfortable and at ease.
And then—and then comes the main event.
She would make Lu Zhixing kneel properly on both knees, with his hands on the ground, and then she would stretch out her feet, take off her shoes and socks, revealing her smooth soles, and place them in front of him.
"Knowledge and action, lick it."
Just imagining this scene made Su Youran feel like her heart was going to jump out of her throat.
Her face was burning, her ears were burning, even the base of her neck was burning.
For more than a decade, ever since she lost her first competition with Lu Zhixing in elementary school, she had been waiting for this moment.
Every time she cried under the covers after losing a match, she thought about the same question—
On what grounds?
Why is it that Su Youran is just as good as him in every way, yet always falls short by just a little bit?
Why did Lu Zhixing win so easily, barely even smiling, as if winning against her was a matter of course?
Why should she always be "Su Youran who lost to Lu Zhixing"?
Now, the scales have finally tipped.
An S-rank versus an F-rank, a Nine Heavens Phoenix versus a necromancer—she couldn't even begin to imagine why she would lose.
This time, she's going to win.
And you have to win him completely, so that he can't hold his head up in front of her.
Maid outfit, cat ears, licking the soles of feet.
She wanted to repay him all the grievances and resentments she had accumulated over the past ten years in one go.
Su Youran finally couldn't help but curl up her lips.
"Su Youran".
"..."
"Su Youran!"
"Huh?" She suddenly came to her senses.
Lu Zhixing stood in front of her, looking at her with a completely bewildered expression.
"You've been spacing out since just now? And grinning like an idiot."
Su Youran's face flushed red. She quickly put her hand down, straightened her back, and coughed twice.
"Nothing, just thinking about something."
"What are you thinking about?"
"What's it to you?"
At the front of the training field, Teacher Zhou patted the puppet's chest.
"Next up—Su Youran."
Su Youran took a deep breath, packed away all the messy images in her mind and stuffed them into a corner, then glanced at Lu Zhixing one last time.
"Don't forget the bet." She said this and turned to walk towards the puppet.
Not far away, someone in the crowd was whispering, "Did Su Youran blush just now?"
"Impossible! You must be mistaken."
"I wasn't mistaken, her ears were red when she was talking to Lu Zhixing."
"What were they talking about? Why is Su Youran just standing there grinning like an idiot after they finished talking?"
"I don't know, but it's definitely not good news."
In the center of the training field, Su Youran stood in front of the puppet and raised her right hand.
Su Youran walked to the puppet and stood still, which only made the discussion in the training ground louder.
"How many enemies do you think Su Youran can fight?"
"An S-rank psychic, a Nine Heavens Phoenix, with an elemental affinity of S, must have at least two hundred, right?"
"Two hundred? You underestimate S-rank too much. Last year, that S-rank warrior from No. 3 Middle School scored three hundred and thirty on the first day of the test."
"They're different. That one is a strength-based type, while Su Youran is a psychic. Psychics are all-rounders, so strength tests don't give them an advantage in the long run."
The buzzing of voices was like a swarm of flies hovering over the training ground.
Su Youran raised her right hand.
She didn't gather her strength, didn't prepare, and didn't even make any unnecessary movements.
As he raised his right hand, a visible wind blade condensed in his palm.
"go."
The wind blade flew out of his hand, drawing a perfect arc in the air, and accurately struck the center of the puppet's chest.
"boom--"
The entire room fell silent.
Everyone stared at the psionic crystal core on the puppet's chest.
数字在跳动——100、200、300、400——还在跳。450、480、500。
It stopped at 500.
"Damage value: 500." Teacher Zhou's voice changed when he announced this number.
The training ground erupted in chaos.
Five hundred?! I didn't see that wrong, did I?!
"She's only been awakened for a day! And she already dealt 500 damage in just one day? My brother, a C-rank warrior, trained for two years and six months and his highest damage was only 480!"
"Is this the terror of S-class? S-class elemental affinity is no joke..."
"And did you notice? She's using wind blades! She mastered a basic skill on her very first day of awakening! This isn't just a matter of level; it's a talent blunder!"
Su Youran withdrew her hand, turned around expressionlessly, and walked back towards the group.
As she passed by Lu Zhixing, she didn't stop, but the corners of her mouth turned up.
Teacher Zhou took a deep breath, wrote down Su Youran's score on the test sheet, then looked up, glanced at the list, and landed on the next name.
"The next one—Lu Zhixing."
The entire room fell silent instantly.
Su Youran slowed her pace, stopped at the edge of the line, and turned around.
Her eyes sparkled, and the smile on her lips was undisguised.
Lu Zhixing stood still.
It wasn't that he didn't want to move, it was that he couldn't, because as soon as he opened his career panel, he discovered a problem that was enough to make his heart stop beating.
